04/03/2026: Spent an overnight stop in campervan on a hardsdand with water and electricity.... had evening meal from an extensive menu... Great food and drinks from a friendly staff .... proprietor on hand meeting and greeting...lovely touch... not many place provide same anymore ... would definitely recommend !

12/10/2025: We were staying in Dooagh and happened upon The Valley House. Stayed for a few pints and a chat. Absolutely class place, extremely friendly service. We'll check out the accomodation and food on our next visit.

30/09/2025: What a wonderful find on Achill Island! A hidden Victorian house by the sea. A grand estate with a tiny Irish pub in the back. A must visit! The hostel was very well furnished and a comfortable night’s rest. I was very impressed! Breakfast was very generous and a wholesome stay.

29/12/2025: Stopped off here for some lunch on Saturday 27 December. Lovely cosy bar. Had a southern fried chicken wrap & it was absolutely delicious. Nicest chicken wrap I've had anywhere in a long time! My sister had a goat's cheese salad that equally looked delicious. Will definitely be back.

22/03/2026: Just checked out from a brilliant night’s stay in the Wyatt. The location was ideal, in the heart of Westport. The staff went above and beyond to accommodate us when we discovered we had made an error with our booking. Caoimhin at reception was particularly helpful. The breakfast was delicious, fresh and appetising with a variety of offerings to suit every palate. The rooms were clean, comfortable and well appointed. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the Wyatt Hotel and we’re looking forward to returning.

08/01/2026: Great pint of Smithwicks. Nice bar area with great service. Has a large dining area that I didn't use but it was always busy, so I assume food was great.

02/02/2026: We spent three days in Newport and enjoyed fabulous meals each day at the Grainne Uaile. Such a warm but also very professional atmosphere. The food was outstanding and the welcome from the whole team was amazing. A little gem of a place.

23/10/2025: We ate there last night. I couldn't recommend highly enough. We were a party of 3, we had the 1 Anthony Heffernan Medallion beef, 2. Butter Fried Wild Atlantic Sea Bream Served with Chervil, a Sunflower Seed Orzo, Courgette Ribbons, Green Grapes and a serving of Goatsbridge Trout Caviar Sauce 3. The tastiest lentil nutloaf ive ever tasted.💗👏 Portions sized were perfect. Lovely touch to get the fabulous homemade breads and Houmous tasters while waiting. Also great to see local craft beer on offer.

09/10/2025: I went to the poachers the other day and I must say it was one of the best restaurants I've ever been to, I ordered the filet mignon and I asked for it to be medium rare which they cooked it perfectly, for desert I ordered the vanilla passionfruit cheesecake which was delicious. Highly recommended this to anyone that is thinking of going to the poachers

06/01/2026: Great place to visit. Easy free parking. Service was great, the bar manager Craig went above and beyond. Food was exceptional. And the pints were GOOD. They even have boards games for kids or to destroy your family lol 😂 will definitely visit again, really enjoyed it.

06/01/2026: Along the River Moy. The starter portion of mussels were great, very nice white wine sauce and enough to eat as a main meal. Fish and chips lovely. Personally I would want more seasoning in the batter. We'll cooked chips. Yummy garlic mayo.

16/03/2026: Edin Dzeko .... Had food here recently and it was great, we were a family of 5 without a reservation but it wasn't a problem. We were well looked after, I didn't get his name but he really took care of us

04/02/2026: Had dinner there with my wife and the food was wonderful in taste.. unfortunately the cheapest thing on the plate 🍽 would be mash potato and they didn't give much of it at all . I don't understand why so little potato is giving with a beautiful meal.. I was more than disappointed. The rest of the food was beautiful and plentiful .

02/02/2026: You'll never experience a better bar than this. Great craic had by all before and after Dubs game. Great pints and great wit on both sides of the bar. This is what all Irish pubs should be like. Mick and the lads behind the bar love the craic. Don't be shy, be respectful and think on your feet, and you might even get one on the house. Definitely worth many more return trips. One of the highlights in Castlebar. Cash is 👑

08/11/2025: I was visiting Castlebar from the US and Mick could not have been more welcoming. I also ended up stopping in during the day to ask for directions and a different barman was also extremely hospitable. It's a very positive feel here, not to mention a top notch pint of Guinness. I'll definitely return the next time I'm in the area.
