14/05/2026: Popped into danollas yesterday as had a good appetite and I decided to try the “ best fish and chips” in castlebar going by what i have heard .. I opted for the large cod and chips and was disappointed with the quality and portion size on the plate and left there feeling hard done by and not even full up . At € 17.00 for this substandard meal I can only say I will not be returning if I’m ever in the vicinity again and I’m even more perflexed to wonder who awarded them this award , won’t be reccomending to others

19/05/2026: While looking for dinner (it was already very late that evening), we stopped by the hotel. Even though the kitchen was already closed, they made us two delicious sandwiches. We had some top-notch Guinness to go with them. The bartender was very friendly!

19/06/2025: The pints are the creamiest I’ve ever tasted and the long hallways are decorated with history. Some really nice characters in there early doors. British lad named Nathan surely knows his away around the pool table, him and his pal Mark gave us a right licking!

29/05/2026: The Bridge Coffee. Probably the best tasting coffee in Ballina! Smooth & aromatic, not acidic at all 💯 Lovely staff, always nice, willing to listen to bespoke orders. Atmospheric setting by the river, unmatched in town🎣🌊

18/09/2025: What a gem of a place, we’d been to the Deli the day before and bought some granola and flour, and had a take out coffee, so we were really looking forward to a late breakfast at Café Rua. First impressions were a fantastic welcome and real friendly people, nothing sham or pretend here. What a great menu, absolutely something for all tastes and dietary requirements. The chorizo, spinach and sautéed potatoes, topped with 2 perfectly poached eggs and accompanied with chilli relish was excellent. Real fresh orange juice was delightful, and the coffee? Epic! What a fabulous way to spend time being looked after in one of the best cafés I’ve visited.

27/03/2026: We went to the Gateway today for a family birthday. The sevice was slow but food was reasonable even though vegetables arrived when meal was nearly eaten. The main problem was with the service and attitude of staff. We asked for a jug of water before meal and asked two different girls on four different occasions without water arriving. When it did arrive the jug and glasses were slammed on table. We will not be back
