The best restaurants in Mayo

27/09/2025: We had a wonderful family meal in Coveys. Special mention to Hussane, who was exceptional and looked after us well. Would highly recommend.

03/09/2025: Atmosphere and service of restaurant was very nice. The server was courteous and friendly. Reason for my 3 star rating is my ribeye steak was inedible, very tough, fatty, chewy. A far cry from the “marbling that melts into the meat resulting in a juicy steak” as advertised. I was expecting a fine cut of steak. Tried real hard to eat it, but after half the steak was so tough and chewy and having to take the meat out of my mouth, I gave up. The side dishes were all quite good and I enjoyed them very much. The peppercorn sauce was also very good…I dipped my chips in it since the steak wasn’t working out. My wife ordered the fillet and it was very good. She gave me a few bites and I wish I had ordered the fillet, not the ribeye. Perhaps it was just a bad cut that night, I don’t know as this was our first visit to Westport and Coveys. They did offer to cook me a new piece of meat, but at this point my wife was nearly done, so I declined.

11/11/2025: I've had breakfast here about 5 or 6 times in the last 8 weeks, the breakfast is good except on every occasion they've used stale bread for the toast.

05/11/2025: The food is delicious, roast pork very tender! Lots of choices of the dessert! And mainly the staffs are nice and friendly!

22/06/2025: Wanted somewhere to eat and a friend recommended lillies and by god we were not disappointed. The lady that served us was the nicest woman ever and so helpful. The food was unreal. The food was 10/10.. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED..

19/06/2025: Lovely spot to jump in for a quick bite staff lovely and friendly brought straight over to a seat. Not a long wait for the food which was lovely. Need to up there advertising around the town because its a place not to be missed for a quick bite

06/02/2026: This establishment is a genuine four-star hotel, equipped with excellent facilities and a highly professional staff. The rooms are large and spacious, complemented by clean, modern bathrooms. The presence of an additional room heater is a notable benefit during cold weather. However, the absence of a refrigerator in the room constitutes a disadvantage, given the otherwise commendable features of this charming accommodation.

05/02/2026: Mr.Rory Bowen is a credit to this hotel. As a corporate executive that stays here he is one of the most attentive managers I have ever seen. He even went in and made me a Pizza after the Rugby, the staff are also amazing from start to finish. I was on my way to Sligo and the local petrol station recommended I stay here. As a COO of a company with over 200 staff I would like to say that Rory is 5 stars.

16/10/2025: Gorgeous Bookstore, calming chill music lots of great variety of new and second hand books without being overwhelming. Even have a coffee station. Lots of local themed books to the area which is great.

18/09/2025: Very friendly and knowledgeable owner in a gorgeous shop perfect for a browse and a coffee. The shop is in a beautiful setting in Westport Quay, County Mayo. Well worth a visit

24/08/2025: What a special place! The atmosphere was beautiful, lovely Italian music and gorgeous furniture. The service was excellent! We felt welcomed and they waited for us even if we were late. And the food. ..how lovely it is to find fab real Italian food when you live in Ireland?! Thank you so much. We wish you many years of success!

16/09/2025: Review from last trip: we loved this palce when we came as a family. The servers were so sweet and attentive compared to a lot of places we tried. I hope they reopen!! Food was good, prices were great. Sept 14, 2024.

24/10/2025: Can't resist stopping off here for a coffee when I'm passing through, what a hidden little gem. The taste is in a word 'perfect' (every time). The staff are cheerful and attentive, as soon as you walk in its unmistakable and adds a real personal element. A made to order cappuccino costs €3.50 which I would consider underpriced for what your getting "but shhhhh, don't tell anyone". You'll notice them take a bit more care and time than some of the larger chains and you can definitely taste the difference in your drink. If you have your own coffee machine you can buy a bag of coffee and I can honestly say its the nicest coffee I've found so far and I've tried a lot, branded as 'SUNDAY' it's a medium roasted Aribica/Robusta washed blend and a 1kg bag costs €30 and considering the best tasting supermarket coffee I could fund was Lavazza @ €25 it was well worth the extra €5 but a professional barista will always win when it comes to a taste test. Try it once and prove me wrong, I DARE YA!

14/09/2025: Peter, the owner, helped us out after we missed the return bus after biking from Westport. He called the local taxi for us, and we enjoyed a pint in his cozy bar while we waited.
