The best restaurants in Mayo

20/11/2025: Absolutely wonderful place ❤ food was to die for haven't enjoyed a meal like that in ages I had the steak sandwich and it was cooked beautifully 😋 himself had the full breakfast and said it was the nicest he's had in a cafe. Can't wait to eat here again! Next time I'm in Claremorris this will be the first place we stop. 5 star all the way

13/10/2025: I used Araby Cofffee House to cater a private party for 70 people and it was such a success! Ciara was very easy to work with and made it simple. She was realistic when it came to quantities and the cost was very reasonable. I wanted only vegetarian food and it was delicious - people even asked for the recipies! Ciara came at the appointed time with all that was needed (plates etc included) and discreetly set everything up and collected it the next day. I would really recommend and can't wait to eat in the cafe soon!

08/07/2025: Nos alojábamos en el castillo y decidimos cenar allí. Es difícil conseguir reservas incluso para los residentes, por lo que conviene reservar con antelación. Yo pedí trucha del Atlántico y mi compañero pidió solomillo. Pedimos un par de acompañamientos que también nos sirvieron en los platos. Afortunado. Ambos estaban realmente sabrosos. Lamentablemente no hay mucho de cada uno en el plato por el precio.

03/07/2025: Cenamos con amigos en el Dungeon. Nos lo pasamos todos genial. El personal de servicio fue eficiente y amable. Todos nuestros platos estaban deliciosos. Los precios, aunque caros, eran más razonables que los del restaurante George V del piso de arriba.

27/11/2025: This is probably the third time I’ve visited this Supermacs. On the way to, or home from Knock Airport. As soon as I sat down this evening I remembered just how horrible I found the God awful screeching sound of the chairs being scraped on the floor!!! It literally set my teeth on edge and spoiled the entire experience - I was so close to just leaving and eating in my car. I don’t know if the staff have become immune to the sound of nails down a blackboard every two minutes but PLEASE just buy some rubber feet or something!!!

15/11/2025: I’m sorry to say that the Balti wasn’t very good and they forgot my rice on the order. The sauce was very watery, and another family member who ordered the Tandoori received what appeared to be the same chicken prepared the same way, just served with a different sauce, and again waterly ( They were not impressed). It was a real shame, as our expectations were high. Unfortunately, it felt more like a supermarket ready meal than a freshly prepared dish. On a positive note, great nana enjoyed her meal, my sister loved her five spiced chcken with sweet and sour sauce, and the staff were genuinely lovely.

24/10/2025: Nice, quite little pub. Grabbed some scampi on a Wednesday afternoon, man running the place does a good job.

23/08/2025: A charming pub with a lovely musical atmosphere in the village of Killala. We enjoyed a pint of Guinness, accompanied by breaded scampi and a stew floating in carrots. The dishes are simple and not particularly exciting, but there's nothing better in the area, so we considered ourselves lucky to find a table, considering it was a late July evening.

07/09/2025: Usually Ive been here before but this was the first time in a while ive came and it has blown me away. The white wine was gorgeous and it was the best food I’ve had in a while which is why ive written a review this time. Went out for my sisters birthday and the food was top tier. We ordered ribs and wings for the starters and the ribs must have been cooking yesterday with how tender they were and the bbq wings were so flavourful. I had the steak ciabatta and it was gorgeous, not tough and perfectly cooked. Nearly licked the pepper sauce. Our server Honzi was funny and witty and the rest of the staff were lovely. The restaurant was done up and it looks lovely.

18/09/2025: What a gem of a place, we’d been to the Deli the day before and bought some granola and flour, and had a take out coffee, so we were really looking forward to a late breakfast at Café Rua. First impressions were a fantastic welcome and real friendly people, nothing sham or pretend here. What a great menu, absolutely something for all tastes and dietary requirements. The chorizo, spinach and sautéed potatoes, topped with 2 perfectly poached eggs and accompanied with chilli relish was excellent. Real fresh orange juice was delightful, and the coffee? Epic! What a fabulous way to spend time being looked after in one of the best cafés I’ve visited.

12/10/2025: Extremely Disappointing Stay – Not Worth the Price I stayed at Pure Magic Achill Island for 2 nights, and it was the worst accommodation experience I’ve ever had. We chose it based on the good online reviews and clean photos, and paid €270 just for the room. However, upon arrival, I was completely shocked. The room was not clean — there was hair all over the bed, and the bed linen clearly hadn’t been freshly changed. When I complained, I was offered another room with a double bed, single bed, and bunk beds for two of us and it was even worse. The room smelled like an old college hostel and had a tiny bathroom roughly partitioned with hardboard. When I asked for a refund to find another place, they refused, leaving me no choice but to stay in the first room. The shower water didn’t drain properly, the toilet wobbled when sitting on it, and even the towel was jammed into the sink. The whole building was old, dirty, and poorly maintained. Overall, it was a total nightmare. Definitely not worth the money and I do not recommend this place at all.

21/09/2025: Pure Magic is a place close to my heart. I’ve stayed here many times, and it never disappoints. Nestled at the foot of Slievemore Mountain, it’s perfect for a peaceful, tranquil break. The staff are very friendly, helpful, and easy-going. The food is excellent—highlights for me are the lasagne, which is a special, the warming seafood chowder, and the decadent white chocolate crème brûlée. Breakfast is just as good, with perfectly poached eggs and a great balance of healthy bites and hearty indulgence. Keel Beach is a short cycle or drive away, perfect for a morning dip in the Atlantic. From the property, you can also enjoy walks to an impressive megalithic site and the Deserted Famine Village—great hikes without being too strenuous. I can’t recommend this place enough.

03/09/2025: Atmosphere and service of restaurant was very nice. The server was courteous and friendly. Reason for my 3 star rating is my ribeye steak was inedible, very tough, fatty, chewy. A far cry from the “marbling that melts into the meat resulting in a juicy steak” as advertised. I was expecting a fine cut of steak. Tried real hard to eat it, but after half the steak was so tough and chewy and having to take the meat out of my mouth, I gave up. The side dishes were all quite good and I enjoyed them very much. The peppercorn sauce was also very good…I dipped my chips in it since the steak wasn’t working out. My wife ordered the fillet and it was very good. She gave me a few bites and I wish I had ordered the fillet, not the ribeye. Perhaps it was just a bad cut that night, I don’t know as this was our first visit to Westport and Coveys. They did offer to cook me a new piece of meat, but at this point my wife was nearly done, so I declined.

22/06/2025: Wanted somewhere to eat and a friend recommended lillies and by god we were not disappointed. The lady that served us was the nicest woman ever and so helpful. The food was unreal. The food was 10/10.. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED..

19/06/2025: Lovely spot to jump in for a quick bite staff lovely and friendly brought straight over to a seat. Not a long wait for the food which was lovely. Need to up there advertising around the town because its a place not to be missed for a quick bite
