The best restaurants in Mayo

11/10/2025: We wanted to have seafood while in Mayo but were worried about gluten free options. Talbots had a seperate menu for celiac/gluten free food and thr staff was very understanding. The staff went above and beyond to make sure I got food prepared as I liked while my husband got regular food. We got the seafood chowder with gluten free bread, the seafood platter (gluten free except we opted to have the battered cod on a seperate plate bc my husband wanted fried fish with the gluten batter). We also had the gluten free brownie, which came with ice cream. The food was beyond good and the brownie was warm and soft, not dry like a lot of gluten free things can be. I highly recomend coming here whether ur celiac or not. But if you are gluten intolerant rest assured you can eat here safely while enjoying your meal!

15/10/2025: Nice place, great food. Good service. Really enjoyed the starter, the main course and the desert. . I don't recommend the coffee. The coffee was weak and cold.

16/10/2025: We had originally booked for six, but one of our guests couldn’t make it. Despite the change, the Owner was incredibly accommodating. We dined in the hotel restaurant and had a meal for five, all different dishes and every single dish was excellent! Even if you’re not staying at the hotel, I would highly recommend a visit to their restaurant but book ahead. Overall we had a great weekend on the island and the Achilles Cliff House Hotel was definitely a contributing factor.

30/09/2025: Couldn’t fault our stay in the Achill Cliff house. Bedrooms were big and spacious, beautiful views, lovely and clean. Breakfast was amazing, tried everything throughout our stay. Would recommend the smoked salmon, delicious and the portions were huge ! The hotel itself is located in a very handy spot for the Achill Golf Club, or the beach. Would definitely stay here again. Staff were lovely and very welcoming.

16/09/2025: Review from last trip: we loved this palce when we came as a family. The servers were so sweet and attentive compared to a lot of places we tried. I hope they reopen!! Food was good, prices were great. Sept 14, 2024.

04/12/2025: Amazing food. We got the steak sandwich and beef stroganoff, both of which were the nicest I’ve had. Great service too and a nice calm atmosphere.

01/12/2025: Salmon dinner was good, hot, and a large portion. Not sure it was local. Dispointed oysters were not on the menu but overall nice location, good service, and nice atmosphere.

25/08/2025: This supermarket chain is present in almost every small Irish town. It offers a wide variety of products, including dairy products, fresh bread, and cold cuts. Service is fast and good, with polite and attentive staff. If you don't want to go through the checkout, you can opt for the express checkouts, which are a great option for those in a hurry and need convenience. However, the best thing about this Ballyhaunis store is that it closes a little later than in other towns. It closes at 9:00 p.m.

08/11/2025: Wow! An amazing hotel and 10/10 hospitality from the staff. Traveling with a baby can be nerve wracking but the staff at the hotel did everything to make our stay comfortable and kid friendly. Will definitely be back.

06/11/2025: One star off for instant coffee sachets in the room and a tin pot of coffee at breakfast I.e no decent coffee to be had. Otherwise decent hotel.

07/07/2025: Was staying in Ballinrobe and fancied and Indian. Went by reviews on here and Google and said we would chance dining-in. I'm glad we did! Fairly certain they are used to take away business as service was a bit chaotic but the food surpassed all expectations. Food was very tasty - can't go wrong with butter chicken and pilau rice! It was also very reasonable. Would definitely recommend!

09/09/2025: This is a favorite spot for our family we go regularly. Margaret and the staff are efficient and very friendly. They do lovely gluten free food and bake their own gluten free bread too. It can be really busy at time but that's because it's a great spot to eat and good value, family friendly too.

23/08/2025: A brilliant cafe. The service is perfect. The food is decently priced and of the best quality. Would always recommend.

15/07/2025: Lovely traditional Irish pub. Doesn't seem extraordinary from the outside but there's a lovely, cosy atmosphere inside. There were several pensioners playing cards at the table beside us, which was lovely to see. Service was quick and friendly. I also really liked how all the spirits had clear, individual prices on the shelves... and the Guinness was top notch. Would highly recommend this pub to anyone visiting Ballina.

22/08/2025: This was the best place I have ever been too. The craic was fantastic, music 🎶 unreal and wow what an atmosphere. Thanks to Emma and the staff who looked after 9 of us so well and we were a mad bunch of ladies. We will definitely return. It's a great place to find and very hard to leave. Actually we didn't want to leave !!!! 🥰🥰🥰🥰

20/05/2025: I have never been to a better bar. Absolutely fantastic staff. So welcoming and warm. Drinks are fantastic. The most Irish bar in Mayo, absolutely brilliant. Genuine owners and staff, if you travel to Westport, you cant miss this pub! Amazing.

03/08/2025: -a truly fantastic breakfast&coffee but the real stars of the show are the staff. Wonderful special mother daughter team who made us feel so welcome. Would happily eat breakfast here everyday for the rest of time. Class

27/06/2025: Very charming café, super friendly and welcoming staff who let us bring our dog inside. Delicious sandwiches, especially the tuna melt! 👌

21/09/2025: I was very happy to discover this book shop and café. We had great coffee and tasty scones upstairs.
