24/07/2025: Outstanding Indian food,had the Madras with lamb, rice and garlic naan. Lamb was very tender. If in Trim overnight definitely go!

14/07/2025: I ended up here after watching an episode of Derry Girls with a friend in which Gerry said he was from Navan. Anyway, we took the car and ended up in Navan. We went in and started ordering beers. The place is awesome, good food, even better atmosphere. It's a miracle we even got back to the hotel.

08/12/2024: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ i can’t recommend The Blackwater in Kells enough! Not only is the food and atmosphere top-notch, but the staff go above and beyond. Trish, in particular, was incredible—so kind, caring, and thoughtful. She even went out of her way to drop us home, which was beyond generous. It’s rare to find such amazing hospitality these days. We’ll definitely be back—thank you, Trish, for making our experience unforgettable!

10/06/2025: Very rude staff, waited like 15 minutes for menu, then we wanted to take menu, he told us to sit down like shouting nearly. slow service, extra 5 euro just because I did not want rice, and wanted mashed potato instead… 👎 No need to say, it is also over priced for a restaurant in the middle of nowhere.

08/07/2025: I'm sorry to say but the Carvey on a Sunday is not as good as last year, I am a regular guest to the Glenside on Sunday's with my Family and up until recently it has always been very good, especially the very tender Roast beef, but for the last 3 visits we have been very disappointed with the quality of the food. I Don't know if it's a change of Staff or a change of meat supplier but the quality is different, first time the Beef was over cooked and dry, 2nd time, Beef was very fatty and our meals were cold and the lady said she can Heat it up in the Microwave, and the 3th time was last Sunday when I had Very fatty, over cooked,dry and cold Beef and my partners was the same, our friend had the Baked ham and she could not eat it because it was too Salty and cold ,Also the lady on the next table sent her meal back because it was cold and they heated her lunch in the microwave. The waiting staff was the only good thing I could say about the Glenside

15/07/2025: The food was good. The service was abhorrent. We made a reservation for 7:15 (three people) and got seated right away after a table of four. A table of two got seated after us and then a table of five or so after that. They were fairly busy and seemed to have a big wedding party group in the back going. We were sat down with menus and the lady who sat us rushingly said what the soup of the day was and that someone would be by to grab our orders and bring water. We waited. And waited. And waited. The tables that were sat around us were seen, had there wine orders taken, had their food orders taken, had received there wine and then there starters all before any server came to us with water or to get any type of order from us. I had to wave down a waitress who was skirting by us after bringing starters to a table in front of us ( the table of four who sat down right before us) I told her we weren’t sure who are waiter was but wanted to put in a wine order. She looked a bit annoyed or frazzled? But took our order. The waitress who might have been the manager because she wore a different outfit than the other waitresses was the one serving the other tables around us but not us. About 10 mins later ( 50 mins after we were sat) we got our drinks and put in our food order. (All the other tables that were sat around us were already eating there starters). We then waited. And waited. And waited. At this point we had been sitting for an hour and a half. Had drank all the water they gave us, and all the water I had in a separate water bottle and still no food or drink refills. I had waved down the waitress and asked for her to refill the water and she never did (twice that happened, three times I asked and only once did she fill it). At about 8:45 we finally got are starters. (Many of the other tables that came in at the same time as us and after us had already ate and left). Then at 9:15 ish we got our main course. The waitress brought out my steak and my other friends main course but not the Caesar salads another friend ordered. We waited 10 mins and eventually had to ask where the salad was and then they brought it out. *I want to emphasize that this entire time, the other tables were being waited on constantly without them having to wave a waitress down for service. But my table wasn’t being waited upon unless we got someone’s attention and even then, they seemed annoyed at helping us. * Finally the waitress who was dressed differently than the rest and waiting all the tables around us came over after I was looking for help for the millionth time. She boxed up our food for us but also seemed unhappy to help us. We then waited for the check, which I had to go up and ask for. The waitress brought it to us and just said someone would be by to check us out. We waited again, just sitting there staring around and no one was coming so I had to wave the same waitress down about 10 mins later to get checked out. In total we were there for over two and a half hours (7:15 - 9:55) Only spent maybe 25 mins of that eating and the rest just waiting. I wouldn’t be as upset if it seemed like everyone there was waiting but we were the only ones not being waited on, not being checked on, nothing. It very much seemed like we were purposefully being ignored. Again I would say the food was okay. My biggest complaints was with my starters. I ordered the mussels and the soup of the day. The waitress brought it over and dropped a piece of the bread for my mussels on the ground, said she would bring me another but never did, that bread just sat on the ground all evening. And to top it all off, they didn’t bring me a spoon for my soup. So I got to eat it with a mussel shell. If I could give them negative stars for service I would. I am overwhelming disappointed in it especially considering the price range of the food with the service one would expect and in contrast in what a wonderful time everyone around us was having because they were getting adequate service.

12/07/2025: We had a lovely evening at Flambé, where Carolann’s team were so friendly and welcoming. We shared the Mussels starter and had Sea Bass and Goats Cheese Salad as mains. There was a new Rosé on the menu at a very reasonable price, a bottle of which perfectly suited the warm summer evening on the small patio overlooking the castle. Apple Crumble dessert rounded off the evening. It was our first visit to Trim and to Flambé and we were so lucky with our choice of dinner venue. Great music selection as well! I wish the whole team well for future success of the business.

04/07/2025: I have been coming here for a long time and the reason I keep returning is because of the staff , and in particular, Trisha and Caroline. If I had a restaurant they would be the first two I would approach and hire because the welcome we get every time we enter the restaurant is amazing. We are very well looked after, due to their attentiveness, and I would like to leave this review because I feel they do not get the praise they deserve , would highly recommend due to the amazing service. Amazing work guys , keep it up.

22/06/2025: Probably the best Chinese restaurant in Navan. Very popular and busy. Very attentive staff. Option of eating on the ground floor or upstairs. White tablecloths. Food was tasty, but our curried chicken was only luke warm. The mixed platter as a starter was very nice. Nice choice of desserts, which is unusual for a Chinese restaurant. Plenty of options on the food and wine menus. We liked the French merlot @ 30 euro a bottle. The place was very busy when we were there, but very well managed. It is wise to book.

21/07/2025: We ate at The 7 Arches last Saturday evening. Fabulous Duck for both of us and 2 very good Margaritas for me. (He was driving) Our 2nd time eating here and we will definitely be back

22/06/2025: The chips were green in colour and the cod portion was under cooked very disappointed after paying 26 euro for two fish and chips overpriced bad quality food! Stay away!

16/06/2025: Back to normal after Covid, like it never closed, great night out any day of the week, busy at the weekends, some live music to be heard at times too. Visiting Oldcastle, make sure to put it on your list.
