29/05/2026: Thank you so much to Matthew, Elisabete, Fabio and all the staff at Isabelle’s. At 3 months notice they hosted our wedding and we could not be happier. Matthew was unbelievably helpful and responsive with the planning of our wedding, we were able to give him full control which took a lot of pressure and stress of us with the short notice. On the day, the venue was beautiful. Fabio and the staff were amazing, no one had an empty drink and they were so friendly and helpful. Elisabete was amazing. Her attention to detail and co-ordination of events on the day were seamless! We trusted her so much with the menu and all our guests spoke so highly of her and the team. The food was outstanding. It’s hard to put into words how delicious each serving was. We cannot thank the kitchen staff enough for the significant contribution to the success of our wedding day. Elisabete is so talented at what she does and deserves all the credit in the world. Not only is Isabelles’s an amazing restaurant but to host a wedding of 105 people to the standard that it was, we cannot be happier.
29/05/2026: The place had a decent, classy ambiance, and the cocktails were excellent. I tried the chicken croquettes as a starter, salmon for the main course, and a pecan nut tart for dessert. Everything was very tasty, but the portions felt quite small for the price.

03/05/2026: Great spot, slightly out of the way. Staff were really nice, kids serving us was extremely helpful. Garlic bread and Calimari starter were brilliant. Burger was very very good but the fish and chips was a touch disappointing. The guiness was decent 3.5/5. Good spot to stop if your are looking a good feed.
03/05/2026: This was an excellent place to visit, food was delicious and very good value for money. Staff were professional and courteous . Overall highly recommend for a Sunday lunch visit. parking was ample as well , we will be back

Used to go here for the cocktail but obviously need to find an alternative.

14/06/2026: This is a nice town on the water. Lots of tourists. Stopped here for lunch and asked for the open window table - there’s no view but it was light and bright. We were told there was a reservation for it (at 2:30 in the afternoon). OK.
They seated us and I ordered the mussels and a seafood chowder. The mussels tasted good but they were the tiniest mussels I’ve ever had. The seafood chowder was good but again full of mussels.
One of us had the seafood tacos. They had a minimal amount of seafood.
Overall a mediocre experience - I will not go again. I will find a place with a view next time. 🌊
11/06/2026: Stopped in at the Oar House after leaving another restaurant with a long wait. We were seated immediately. So glad we stopped here. I got the baked hake and it was so delicious! Salmon was excellent as well. We also shared the sticky toffee pudding cheesecake for dessert. So good!!

22/05/2026: Doesn't karaoke sound like a fun activity for Hens and Stags? I thought so. If you thought so too, well...UNO REVERSE. NO SILLY SINGING FOR YOU. FUN ACTIVITY DENIED. Hens and Stags, Massimo does not want your money.
We (a group of 10) tried to drop in for karaoke night as part of a pre-wedding crawl, and we were promptly kicked out because they "don't do hen parties."
I was very confused, and truly thought this was a joke when the bartender told us to kick rocks. We did not enter loudly or obnoxiously, and were not looking for them to "do" anything but trade some pints for euros and endure some off-key songs.
Maybe the folks at Massimo are perfectly nice and have been traumatized to the point of PTSD by screeching packs of bridesmaids. Maybe they actually can't handle more than 10 people at a time. (We would have doubled the clientele at 8pm on a Thursday, had we been allowed to stay.) Maybe they hate joy and want to keep all of their advertised karaoke to themselves.
I don't know. And if you are hens or stags traveling in a pack larger than two or three, neither will you. Because they don't want you there, and they will ask you to leave.
26/04/2026: The worst bar in Galway, never will I enter there again, aggressive bouncers, beer taste pour, avoid this place. Bouncers are agreeive and bad people. Bouncers are very touchy!!!!!

03/05/2026: Got the lunchtime menu, ordered the garlic mushrooms, and the smash burger. I was disappointed- the breading of the mushrooms tasted like they were cooked in bad oil, and the burger, although tasty, was more like a slider rather than a smash patty, also wedges with burger was like warm

It is super small though, meaning you might not find a spot easily
17/05/2026: Tea advertised on wall as €3, but we were charged €3.80. Also a bad smell was coming out of the bathrooms, which wasn’t pleasant as we were seated right outside the bathroom door.
Nice location and decor, but otherwise lacking.
