15/11/2025: The worst expirience with restaurant in clonmel...I had reservation 18.30 we waiting for table over 40 min and nothing finally we change reataurant...I understand they were busy but why did they take our resrvation a few day beforehand.... I'm generally very disappointed as it is also my birthday, I wish they gave us a call to warn us about how full they were so we could plan ahead, overall its ridiculous that we waited so long for a table we reserved days beforehand that we didn't even get as we ended up leaving😡😡😡

09/10/2025: Food was fantastic, cooked to perfection, staff are friendly happy and helpful , cost is very very reasonable, my work takes me from pub to pub and carrolls is at the top. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

05/12/2025: I am dissapointed after my dining experience last night with my friends. I ordered the duck. The dish itself was presented beautifully on the plate with the crispy skin and garnishes. I thought it was a bit on the pink side but thought maybe it might have been the beetroot dye that had rubbed off it slightly. I started on my fries though and had a small bite of duck. The waitress did come ask us how everything was after about 2 or 3 minutes in which at that point we were mainly enaged in conversation and hadn't eaten much yet so we said everything was okay. I then tucked into my dish but the duck was very hard to cut and very chewy. It was too pink for my liking and I ended up leaving it there. Typically Irish and not wanting to be fussy, I didn't say anything until the waiter came over approximately 10 minutes later at this point, when he saw I'd left my plate fairly full with the duck. I explained what was wrong and he said he'd speak to the chef. On his return he told me that the chef said the duck was perfect and that is how they cook it there. He said the chef also tasted it and said there was nothing wrong with it. To add more weight to his point of view, he told me that the chef was also the owner. He then said he was sorry for my experience and I should have said something earlier (fair enough) I said that I disagreed with it being perfect and that customer feedback was important but it seemed to be dismissed. I want to point out that I was not looking for a free meal or a discount. And at no point did the waiter offer anything at all either as a goodwill gesture. For me, the issue was them not acknowledging that there was a problem. Thats what I couldn't understand. I felt awkward and annoyed at myself for not voicing my dissatisfaction "2 minutes into the meal" With hindsight, despite the chef/owner disagreeing with me, it was really just put back on me that I was wrong and didn't know how duck should be cooked.( *Duck is one of my favourite dishes that I order at least twice a month when dining out) The bill came and we paid the full amount and left a tip for the waitress that served us too. But from a customer service point, I really am disappointed and I will not eat here again.

02/12/2025: Very friendly staff and an authentic atmosphere. The oysters were plump and excellent (although they seemed a bit pricey at €3.50 each). The fish and chips... The fish was very good but completely mushy. The batter was soaked in oil like a sponge. It was really unpleasant. I'm giving the food 3 stars because the batter was awful, but the fish was good, the blue cheese sauce was excellent, and the fries were cooked twice (but still not exceptional). It's also a shame about the starter; we would have needed more bread to enjoy the sauce on the prawns (Buffalo Tiger Prawn, don't expect anything crispy), which was really good!

29/10/2025: I ordered a burger and my girlfriend the full Irish. The burger was poor but if it was just that I wouldn't be leaving a review. Every item of her meal was wrong in some way. Even the toast was ruined as it was so hard it hurt her mouth. I thought she might be exaggerating so had some too, and my mouth still hurts an hour later.

23/10/2025: Food was delicious but €17 for a full breakfast and then coffee as extra. It's 2 sausages 2 rashers pudding and an egg. C'mon.

29/09/2025: TACOS!!!!!!!!!! Finally ! real, edible tacos in Limerick! I’ve been seriously disappointed with the Mexican food scene here for a long time. Had tacos from a food truck before and those tacos were terrible, clearly tailored to local tastes rather than authentic flavors. But this new spot at Sambros total game changer. Proper tacos with good quality meat, fresh ingredients, and actual flavor. You can taste the authenticity in every bite. So glad to see Limerick finally getting it right when it comes to Mexican food. Highly recommend!

12/11/2025: Food was outstanding, as a vegan I was very pleasantly surprised by how good all the vegan options tasted. I had the paella, the aubergines, the cauliflower, the pasteis. All was amazing. Oh and dessert, they have vegan pastéis de nata, it was just perfect, nice and warm. 10/10.

28/10/2025: Nice place and service was acceptable but we weren’t impressed with food at all. Ordered 6 tapas items from the menu. Got 1 duck casserole style dish that was piping hot (but cold dish - microwave..?) and the other 5 weren’t even that warm. Not sure if we had an off night based on other reviews but food wasn’t good at all.

30/08/2025: Charming, old-school rooms and a historic lobby (check out the tiles on the floor). Highly recommend if you like unique, hotels that are just scruffy enough to be interesting.

05/05/2025: This place takes you back in time. The woodwork is spectacular, and the hosts are great. And the atmosphere is golden.. highly recommend this place

22/04/2025: Ashling Hotel was a very reliable place for good traditional food. Not anymore. Had a meal there on Easter Saturday. The food was pretty mediocre. A pretty poor attempt at nouvelle cuisine. It would be better if the chef stuck with traditional menus.

29/08/2025: Liene made us very welcome and did not rush us to order. A lovely and welcoming atmosphere with really comfortable chairs with high backs which I love. Portions are very generous and the wine list is very affordable with a good selection. This has become my "go to" place of choice to eat and relax in Listowel.

11/12/2025: Just came back from The Santa experience. I hadn’t seen much online so wanted to give an honest review so others could see it. When we arrived we were confused as we weren’t in the castle at all but in the back where the golf course is, in the bar/restaurant for there. We were met by a lovely girl dressed as an elf and asked to wait inside where we were offered coffee and tea. Me and my husband got a tea and were waiting maybe 10 minutes after our time as there was a little hold up, no big deal. We then were escorted by another girl dressed as an elf to a shed, she was lovely and had a little chat before being brought to another shed to meet Santa. Santa was so nice and made my daughter feel welcomed as well as another girl dressed as an elf. We got two presents and had some pictures taken with our phones. I did expect a more professional set up with the pictures but whatever. Afterwards we went back to the golf club bar/restaurant and was seated for dinner. We had a lovely dinner, even got a baby bowl for my daughter which was mash, gravy and some carrots. Food was a solid 4/5. My takeaway from the day was that it was very expensive €50 a head, my daughter went free as she’s under 18 months so that’s something. When I booked I did expect it to be in the castle in a lovely room not a garden shed out the back. It wasn’t exactly Santa at the castle vibes they project in promos and website. I don’t think I would go again but the Santa was great and all the staff were so kind and accommodating. If it wasn’t for the staff it would had been terrible. I suggest having a room in the castle for next year as that’s what I was expecting and I’m sure others would too, I wouldn’t mind the dinner in the golf restaurant afterwards then with no issues. It felt thrown together and I didn’t see much different other then the dinner to go to town and see the Santa there, much cheaper too. Thank you to the staff and the Santa you were a credit to the place.

02/12/2025: I’m a Wedding DJ and have played at Waterford Castle quite regularly throughout the last few years. It is very popular for American destination weddings and the venue seems to meet the needs of these destination weddings as there is sufficient rooms on the island between the castle and lodges. There is always a great atmosphere around the castle and I’ve seen many great party’s here. The team are also excellent and everything runs on time.

05/12/2025: Cute spot for a nice coffee and crêpe. The staff is super friendly and it's cosy inside. The ambience is perfect for a meetup with friends, casual coffee or full meal with coworkers. It's well located in the centre of the city.
