14/12/2024: Amazing food and hospitality at Orso. The food was delicious with an inventive menu - a fusion of Lebanese style food with local Irish produce. Standout dishes were the specials - burnt aubergine and a tomato chowder style fish main. Cocktails were divine too and kept flowing thanks to Gabie’s service - thank you for a 10/10 meal and evening 😊

09/12/2024: The food is amazing. I had lamb, it took a while, but the waiting was completely worth it!!!!

17/12/2024: The White Horse 🐎 is a fantastic restaurant. I had a perfectly cooked Angus beef burger. It was juicy, flavorful, and satisfying. I'm getting hungry just thinking about it. The staff are polite and I will recommend this place while visiting Ballincollig and nearby areas.

16/12/2024: It was a good experience. This is a great brunch in town. Our dishes, the open chicken sandwich, the Irish Benedict, and the chocolate and cranberry French toast were delicious. I highly recommend this place if you want to be sure of a really good option for lunch or brunch in Cork. The value for money was suitable.

16/11/2024: I cannot recommend this place enough! We randomly came across it for breakfast on a very rainy day. Luckily we were able to get a table without a reservation! Even though the place was very busy the staff was warm, welcoming and attentive. The mushroom toastie was absolutely and my partner had the french toast. Absolutely amazing! It was such a nice experience we came back the next day for breakfast. The only point of critique is the portions were so big we did not have room for dessert. The prices were fair as well. When I return I will definitely be returning! I cannot stress enough how amazing the staff was. Thank you for a lovely breakfast and atmosphere!

01/11/2024: Fabulous place, great atmosphere. Had the steak which was cooked to perfection, bottle of Argentinian Malbec , followed by the orange cake. Great service too.

10/11/2024: Didn't have food there however great option for pints and cocktails. Staff friendly and efficient, although run off their feet, its a busy spot. Old world charm adds to the atmosphere.

15/12/2024: Food is delicious! I got the soup of the day, which happened to be a lovely carrot and turnip with cream. It had great consistency and the cream perfectly contrasted with the textured topping. The pan fried hake is always my go to, and it has never disappointed. Today, it was served with a tangy chickpea salad which paired beautifully with the milder and less overpowering flesh of the hake. Topped with a spinach and lime sauce, this was phenomenal. For dessert, I recommend the affogato. The expresso with vanilla ice cream is a great way to freshen up, especially after a heavy meal. Only lost points are for not offering tap water unless specifically requested. You will be charged an extra five euro for water otherwise, which seems a bit deceptive. Nevertheless, staff are always very accommodating and friendly. The starter bread itself is also one of my favourites on its own and is baked on site. Would definitely recommend! Edit: raised my rating to 5 stars as Jacobs really does stand out from everywhere else I've dined at in the last weeks!

30/11/2024: We have been big fans of Jacobs for many years but the service and food has been slipping for about 18months now. The food was very disappointing,especially their non meat options which they used to excel in. The only main option they have for both vegetarians and vegans for the festive season is chickpeas in a bowl of lettuce, it was a pathetic excuse for a main course. The food is expensive but the quality just isn't there anymore and the portion size isn't good enough, a half a black pudding if you order that as a starter is insulting for the prices being charged. Our server was rude on more than one occasion during our dinner and responded she was busy everytime we made a request such as an extra side dish when it was clear the vegetarian main was such a poor offering. Overall it was unfortuantely the last straw for us after a series of poor visitis.

15/11/2024: Nice atmosfeer, very good bar. But only gluten free beer is Peroni. This could be better when I compare to other bars in Cork. Edit: last time, they also served a 9 White Deer Stag gluten free beer. Good addition!

17/12/2024: Soulful Italian food unlike any other around. What sets it apart is how they are able to get out so much flavor out of the select few ingredients in each recipe without being bland. The Truffle Garlic Bread among starters is a must try. Among the mains, I would personally recommend the Ravioli which has a subtle sweetness or opt for one of the specials. I miss the vegan Tiramisu from the dessert menu. Staff are courteous and explain the changing menu. Only complaint would be that the chairs can be a bit uncomfortable. Lastly don't forget to book in advance!

08/12/2024: UPDATE: After two years, I need to provide an update. We visited Sonflour at least four times since then, and the food has improved significantly. However, I must mention that the service can be quite disappointing. Each visit felt rushed and lacking warmth. For instance, during our last visit (last night), the waitress asked if we wanted dessert, which we declined. Within two minutes, she returned with the bill and slapped it on the table. We hadn’t requested it and might have wanted coffee or tea; we were there for only 45 minutes, not two hours. And this is just one example among others. We are not picky when it comes to service; we understand that it’s a very difficult profession. However, certain things are unacceptable. This type of service feels more like a café or lunch spot than a proper dinner restaurant. I wonder if this is due to a lack of management. We might come back, but only for lunch. —————— Great restaurant and staff, lovely and cozy atmosphere. The food and wine were amazing. Definitely a plus that the menu is full vegan/vegetarian, well done guys. (The only improvement I’d suggest would be to have slightly bigger portions. It’s not a huge issue but could be a nice improvement 🙂) We’ll definitely come back soon!

23/11/2024: Went there for a nice evening with miss, it was lovely. The crew serving us were very friendly and professional. Food is great, tasty and great portion. Like many other comments, the focaccia is unreal. Good selection of wine, for every taste. Definitely would go back and recommend, but you need to book in advance 😁
