22/02/2026: Very disappointed overall.Took my son for a special occasion.Very loud on arrival from people at bar counter asked to move but staff member said the group were leaving ( which they did ) .We ordered 2 starters both small ,tasty enough. .However it was the 2 main courses that were so disappointing I ordered the hake ,brocolini and mash and my son ordered the featherblade of beef ,both portions were small ,the broccoli was 2 pieces of tenderstem.My sons beef was small he was starving after it. .With one non alcoholic wine meal came to 92 euro ..I dont mind paying for something if Its filling and good value but we both left hungry .My son went home for a bowl of cereal.Overall very disappointing experience.Wish I had seen previous persons review ( Sarah ) bfore I booked.We had similar experiences.

15/02/2026: Overall a very mid experience for a fine dining restaurant, when paying such high price for the food you'd expect just a bit more than one mushroom and one broccoli, the chips were not even crispy and more soggy unfortunately, seasoned well beef however too much blood on the beef, , plating was just so basic, the vibe was an interesting experience just way too dark

18/03/2026: Cask was lovely and has an array of fun custom cocktails to choose from, including your standard drink options. I sat at the bar and enjoyed a fantastic monty python themed mezcal drink ("Your mother was a hamster and your father smelt of elderberries") and pork belly with lentil stew that I could've happily eaten over and over again! The bar staff was super nice and helpful, and one bartender took the time to recommend different drinks and explain what each was and how they were unique. Overall it was a wonderful experience and I'd gladly go again! The only downside, which might be unique to being solo and sitting at the bar, was that it was a little challenging to get attention of a staff member to both order and pay.

21/03/2026: Wonderful Restaurant Exceptional service by Mr. Álvaro, fantastic SUGGESTIONS. BRILLIANT professionalism, sensitivity in making the right choices. Thank you to Mr. Álvaro. French onion soup, Creamy burrata, Confit duck leg, Angus cheek based on Burgundy sauce, Roast beef rib. Everything was wonderful.

05/04/2026: Amazing food here always and fantastic service .. Highly recommend the Brook Inn. Nice touch on Easter Sunday with free eggs for the kiddies !!

31/03/2026: We had a fabulous experience at Isaac's restaurant last night. Our food was delicious and excellent value for money. Although the restaurant was extremely busy with a very large group food was delivered promptly and our server Conor was extremely helpful and attentive. We'll definitely return

28/02/2026: Crab crumble, poor and overpriced at 17 euros, not very much Crab at all However the monkfish scampi were very good and much better value, wine expensive as it is everywhere, although the monthly wine okay

20/02/2026: Went here tonight for some food , big mistake and even bigger let down , I got a chicken burger and chips , there was no taste whatsoever in the burger it was terrible and the chips were all burnt so badly that they were completely unbeatable , a member of staff asked was everything OK, i showed her the chips and she fully agreed with me and apologised straight away , I would definitely have got nicer food in supermacs fast food takeaway , I basically paid €20 for an apology , first and definitely last time going here , Cork is full of really nice places to eat I just happened to pick one of the worst places to waste my hard earned money and time , please for your own sake dont make the stupid mistake I made by going here....

22/12/2025: Was there last night for a birthday meal in the booth. gave 5 stars for the room but only used the restaurant. Have stayed in the hotel before so I know it’s great. The Mabel Crawford Bistro is beautiful, fantastic food and even better staff. 10/10 can’t wait to go back

12/03/2026: I had the unique culinary experience of dining at this pub restaurant recently, and I must say it was unforgettable—although not for the reasons the establishment might hope. Let’s start with the chips, which deserve special recognition. They achieved a texture I previously thought impossible: simultaneously soggy and rock‑hard. Eating them felt less like dining and more like an archaeological dig. I suspect some of them may have been present since the pub first opened. Naturally, we mentioned this to the staff, who kindly solved the issue by bringing us… more of the same chips. It was a bold move. Not everyone would have the confidence to double down on mediocrity like that. The venue itself has a certain “vintage” atmosphere, if by vintage you mean dim, tired, and faintly reminiscent of a bus station waiting room that lost hope sometime in the late 1980s. One could almost admire the commitment to preserving such a thoroughly dingy aesthetic. And then there was the bill. For reasons that remain a mystery to both economics and gastronomy, the prices suggested we had just enjoyed a fine dining experience rather than a plate of what can only be described as aggressively disappointing food. All in all, if you’ve ever wondered what happens when high prices meet low expectations and somehow still manage to disappoint, this pub restaurant provides a fascinating case study.

27/02/2026: I was in there on Thursday for dinner with a great friend and the turkey dinner oh my God was off the charts in terms of quality. My goodness..I will go back there and recommend my friends and others to go there. What a feed.

29/10/2025: Good atmosphere! The resident cocktail maker was not present but the fella behind the bar did his best and produced some top quality cocktails for us. Staff are incredibly sound.

08/03/2026: The door staff last tonight seemed irritated with everyone arriving. The security man was abrupt and not very welcoming at all. It made the whole experience start off on the wrong foot

08/03/2026: The experience with the door security was extremely unpleasant and completely unprofessional. The bouncer got angry because he claimed I didn’t say hello, even though I did — he just didn’t hear it. Instead of handling the situation calmly, he reacted with attitude and started arguing, which felt totally unnecessary. It’s surprising that management allows this kind of behaviour at the entrance because it gives a terrible first impression. After reading other reviews, it’s clear that the door security is a recurring complaint from many customers. Between the poor attitude at the door, average unfriendly service from staff and limited food options and drinks, the place feels poorly managed. Management really needs to address the behaviour of their security team because it’s damaging the reputation of the pub. But maybe 🤔 they don't care....
