31/07/2025: Wow, how to begin. The versatility, the charm, the service, Peggy’s Bar and Restaurant truly has it all. There’s a reason it’s often dubbed “The Swiss Army Knife of Restaurants” by those in the local area. Truly worth a visit, your tastebuds will never forgive you if you don’t!

07/09/2025: Great hotel with great views and wonderful staff. The beds were very comfy with lots of pillows. The shower had low pressure and the bathroom smelt a bit damp. The breakfast was a bit disappointing, the cooked breakfast was very salty, we only got one small teapot between 2 and the buffet was limited. Would still recommend this hotel.

01/09/2025: We were passing through from Dublin to Connemara and were pleasantly surprised. The check-in staff were very welcoming and friendly, and despite our late arrival, we were able to have dinner in our room. Unfortunately, the very young man at breakfast was completely overwhelmed with our usual requests. Breakfast was nevertheless delicious and plentiful. We highly recommend the hotel. The rooms are spacious and beautifully furnished. The beds are great. It seems to be a local hotspot. One photo is from the breakfast room, the other from the balcony the following morning.

18/08/2025: Gallery Cafe & Restaurant in Gort is an absolute gem! They serve delicious coffee and amazing desserts, and the food is truly top quality. The atmosphere is warm and charming, making it a perfect spot to relax. I highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Gort – definitely worth a stop

31/08/2025: Really a great place 🏠. I was here with my family (we are an italian family of 7 💀 on tours in Ireland) and arrived at Cong in the evening. With no reservation there was a table for us ✌️. Owner and staff really kind and always smiling. The food was excellent, in particular the meat (I took the tomahawk 🍖). Very good also the desserts. The walls are decorated with pictures of the film "a quiet man".

15/08/2025: We were a group of 9 for lunch on Wednesday. The food was lovely everyone enjoyed it. One thing that did really bother me was when the gentleman took our order. 3 of us asked for water meaning tap water but each time he said still or sparkling. I asked directly for tap water and he made a face and all but said no. Something about it not being good. As far as I'm aware if you buy alcohol at any establishment in Ireland and ask for tap water then you are legally entitled to have it, no excuses. We did buy alcohol by the way. There were 9 of us, money was going to be made. Also parties of 5 or more could not pay separately, I mean come on. That's a complete first for me. We were paying cash, maybe it should be made clear about incurring card cost but otherwise if paying cash then fine. A nice spot in Gort but surprisingly quiet. Please supply the water if asked. You'll still make your money, these things do make a difference especially if there is a chance of people coming back.

14/08/2025: My family and I were staying here, so we decided to come here for lunch, and we loved it. The dishes were delicious and the portions were generous. We ordered roast beef, salmon and cod, sea bass, and a crispy chicken burger. Everything was delicious, the staff was charming, and the rooms were spacious and clean.

30/08/2025: We recently had our wedding here in Blackthorn restaurant. I would highly recommend this restaurant for their food and service. We had 96 guests seated on our day and I couldn't have asked for a better setting or food. Our guests were raving about the food. The only complaint they had was that there was too much! ( between the horderves and mate night snacks) We have been getting compliments all week, ' the best food I have ever had at a wedding', ' I will go to this restaurant again', ' I will recommend this place to my brother for his wedding', 'what type of meat was that cut again? The meat just fell apart when i touched it'. We opted for this restaurant as opposed to a big function room style wedding exactly for this reason so we are SO happy with the way the day went from start to finish! We worked with the managers Patrick and Fergal who couldn't do enough for us- who helped us in choosing our food and wines and the format of the day. All of the staff were fantastic.They were brilliant to work with and so helpful- the people and staff make a place for us, this is another reason we chose this venue. Nathan, the chef, although I never actually met him, did an amazing job. No ask was too much for the team and the day went perfectly. I would highly recommend dining here, holding an event here or getting married here. You will not be disappointed. A lot of our guests that stayed in the hotel commented on how friendly all of the staff were so I would like to highlight that too. Thank you again!

25/08/2025: Excellent food and terrific service! Fergal was very accommodating, happy and knowledgeable. The scallop starter and dry aged prime rib to share were fantastic! We really enjoyed our evening at Blackthorn!

26/08/2025: Best breakfast we have had in Ireland! Lovely cafe, very welcoming and friendly to both 2 and 4 legged guests. The breakfast was delicious and so big we don’t need to eat for the rest of the day. Really super cafe and highly recommended.

10/06/2025: I got a takeout lunch and was impressed by the friendly helpful server, how quickly it arrived and how delicious it was. It was just over €11. It’s just what I liked, not too much bread and a great balance of protein to vegetables. The soup was full of goodness and flavour (I bet they used a good stock).

28/08/2025: Loved stopping off here for lunch on our drive around Connemara! We had soup of the day, the chowder and shared the cod goujons special. The chowder was particularly amazing!!!

20/08/2025: Food was Really nice though the fish batter was a bit soggy. All servers were friendly except one. Was quite unprofessional and rude. But overall was a nice experience.

21/07/2025: Beautiful hotel. Spacious room, lovely setting. Easy check in. Friendly staff. Super clean, even the tv remote was in a plastic protector!! Used the leisure centre which was relaxing. Evening meal was gorgeous. Lovely spacious areas to sit and relax on all floors. Can not fault our stay.

21/07/2025: Beautiful hotel! The room was comfortable and clean, the staff was welcoming and very hospitable, and the food at the on-site restaurant was great. It is a bit isolated, but if you're staying for a night or two, it's absolutely perfect. Plus, many of the rooms have a balcony - a very nice touch!

01/08/2025: What a wonderful experience! The pork I ordered was just perfect; the really large portion cooked just how I like it. My partner had the carrots. I tasted one (or 2 or 3) and they were delicious. A lively spot with an incredible view and friendly, obliging staff. I'll be back one day!

20/07/2025: I've been going to Pádraicín's for years, but this was my first time in about 12 months. Beyond disappointing. This place has gone downhill big time. Firstly, wrong order arrived so we'd to wait for one of the dishes. The food was only mediocre and not like previous meals - it is sadly far, far below previous standards. They must have a new chef or kitchen team or new management or something, because something drastic has happened. Then, we were left 25 minutes after finishing our meals before anyone came to collect our plates and we had to actually go and seek out the staff and ask them to clear our table and ask them for desert menus. They never asked us if we'd like tea or coffee and again we had to seek out staff for this. The food isn't cheap and previously I never minded paying that bit more as it was so good. As someone who has been coming here for decades, I won't be back. I would avoid here in the future.

19/07/2025: Went here for the 1st time in a long time. Was really disappointed in the the drop in quality. Chowder very thick and a small portion. Battered fish was more batter than fish. Nothing was terrible but for the prices it left a sour taste.
