The best restaurantsof irish in Galway

26/05/2025: We stayed at the Ardagh Hotel over the weekend and honestly couldn’t recommend it enough. We traveled as a couple with our dog, and were so impressed by how dog-friendly the hotel is—dogs are welcome in most areas as long as they’re on the lead. The room, while on the smaller side, had everything we needed and was comfortable and clean. Breakfast was included in our stay, and it was a lovely cooked breakfast each morning. We also had dinner at the hotel restaurant and it was fantastic—a delicious three-course meal with excellent vegetarian options. The hotel itself is well maintained, with amazing views and a peaceful setting. It’s in a great location too—just under a 10-minute drive from Clifden town. The staff were lovely as well, really friendly and accommodating. Overall, we had such a lovely stay and will definitely be back!

26/05/2025: Great to see the Ardagh open for the season, a favourite of ours. I find the lobster hard to resist, but everything on the menu is great!

17/05/2025: The food in this establishment was absolutely first class..! I cannot stress enough how lush our meals were…! The portion sizes were huge as well…! The service from the girl’s working here were excellent… they were very professional… friendly and very efficient…! They did not stop the full time we were here…! There was a lovely friendly atmosphere within… all of the staff were very busy but very friendly…! The location is absolutely perfect… the waiting time for being seated and for bringing our meals was class… we didn’t wait at all to be seated… the staff who seated us was very helpful as to where they seated us as I am on walking crutches… nothing was a bother to anyone working here…! Brilliant value for money as the portion sizes were huge and all round the food was exceptional…! I would definitely return here again…!

27/04/2025: Can not rave about this place to much. It was one of the most beautiful meals I have ever had. The service was excellent and the food was outstanding.

07/05/2025: I have eaten a few times here and the food has been wonderful. Today lunch was an awful let down for both myself and my friend. She left most of hers and didn't eat it Most of the menu offerd deep fried food. So I chose the crispy halloumi salad as a main course. The salad leaves where hard, crunchy and not appetizing. The halloumi was deep fried. Chicken where cheap chicken lumps. The whole meal was not what I accepted from there previous high quality.🙁

01/05/2025: I had ordered coffee and a burger. The waitress said wait 5-10mins we are busy, it wasn't very busy looking, second time the waiter said forgot your order so will be delay and after long wait I got my coffee he said we won't charge for it, guess what they are so greedy they did charge and had me waiting and so disappointed that I asked if I could get my burger packed and leave. Had gone there to relax for the night but all ruined and we payed and regret. It's just hyped and greedy.

05/05/2025: For our sons communion, we booked Gather Restaurant for catering, we had Lasagne, chicken and la king and lamb stew and potato gratin Salads and cold meat salads. & most delicious dessert. Apple crumble & Lemon Meringue Absolutely everyone commented on the quality of the food and there was no waste, Absolutely nothing. Everyone had 2nds and some even had 3rds! And the next day everything was eaten! I would highly highly recommend Siobhan and her wonderful team for catering. Siobhan even made a special meal for our son for his special day. His favourite fish and chips!

26/04/2025: Lovely place for a treat, the brunch is always super in here. It is a teensy bit expensive maybe, especially the tea/coffees, but the food is so fresh and lovely and the staff are very nice. Thank you!

05/05/2025: Randomly pulled off in Gort on our drive to Galway and had the most delicious meal at Gallery Cafe, it was all of our favorite in all of Ireland. I liked it so much, I went out of my way to go the next week!

25/04/2025: A small group of us just dropped in for a snack while working in Gort. Staff were very attentive and courteous and the food was beautiful and served quickly and even though they were quite busy staff were relaxed and didn't appear to rush us or any other customers. Well worth a visit if you are in the area of Gort.

11/05/2025: Great service and delicious food. While it’s a bit on the pricey side, it’s definitely worth it for the quality and experience. The view is absolutely stunning and adds to the overall charm of the place.

16/05/2025: This was a great stopping off point on our way to the Cliffs. On the water in a sweet little town. The staff were friendly, the place was empty (always a little concerning) but we liked the menu. Not a good choice for those unable to do stairs (to the ladies) but no issue. Our food was excellent. Bread was the best I’ve had so far in IE. f&c were fresh and lightly breaded and crisp. Veg soup was lovely.

10/05/2025: We came here when staying close by and after a day out exploring. We hadn’t booked but they were able to seat us in the bar area. Would recommended the Thai Steamed Seafood Pot. Lovely setting.

05/05/2025: Used to by local but will never darken their door again. Itinerants have taken over this place now and are there most weekends. Avoid for your own safety.

26/04/2025: No comí aquí, solo me alojé en el alojamiento. Fue una decisión de última hora, ya que el precio era mucho más bajo que en cualquier otro lugar en Co Galway. La habitación estaba limpia y cómoda y los tés surtidos. Lo que me decepcionó fue el ruido del exterior. Estaba en la habitación 3 y solo me di cuenta tarde cuando estaba listo para dormir que la ventana no se cerró correctamente. Esta habitación da directamente a la calle principal y por lo que tuve unas tres horas de apenas tráfico. Además, no hay cortinas en la habitación solo una persiana opaca que se ha cortado a medida pero no muy bien. Cuando se tira hacia abajo, hay alrededor de una pulgada o dos a cada lado donde la farola vierte a través. Finalmente, entiendo que esto es Oranmore, pero mi pareja fue capaz de caminar en el alojamiento a las 9 de la noche y venir arriba completamente desapercibido y sin control. Como mujer viajando sola, no me sentí muy segura esa noche.

29/03/2025: Gave this place another chance but still overrated. Service was slow. Fried eggs totally overcooked and halloumi burnt. Waiter was very nice and friendly.

23/03/2025: We stayed here for 2 nights for a wedding. Nice, well maintained hotel with great attentive staff who were always happy to help and answered the phone very quickly. Leisure facilities were good, clean and looked after, you need to wear a swim hat but these can be loaned from leisure reception or brought for 2.50 euro. Only very minor gripes were that the shower in the room was a bit temperamental with the hot and cold and it wasn't that powerful. Also breakfast was pretty average, did the job but nothing to write home about. If it wasn't for these two points then it would have been 5 stars.

19/03/2025: Reception staff very friendly, room was basic but lovely clean plenty towels and tea/coffee biscuits. We booked a time for dinner as we were told it be safer we arrived down and seated very quickly, but it went down hill after that the waiting to order and for food to come was very slow. Very slow to clear table i had bring up glasses myself as i was afraid the child would break one. Bar staff had no interest in being there they were so slow to take order was left waiting at least 5/6 minutes every time one off us went up to order and it wasnt busy 2/3 sitting at bar. From a publican to another they need more training in dealing with customers or new staff hired that want to do the job. Pool facilities were lovely. Overall it was a lovely stay just need new bar staff.
