The best restaurants in Kildare

29/07/2025: This was one of the nicest places we visited lately, a little, tranquil paradise, managed and run by absolutely lovely people. One normally goes there to buy a tree. We talked to and were helped by Anthony, who was very knowledgeable and gave us great advice. We stopped at the Café there for a coffee and a bite to eat and were greeted by Rambo, the duck, who, all by himself, decided to leave the lake and become a bouncer. All day, he spends at the entrance to the coffee shop and inspects every person walking through the door. We are back at home now with a strawberry tree. It is just about to be planted. I can wholeheartedly recommend this centre; a lovely outing with lovely people, beautiful plants, a coffee shop, and a bouncer duck. And we will back for more.

06/12/2025: Was here to celebrate a great and strong man that was retiring. Bless his soul and family. Service was great. Easy to get drinks and food. Opened a tab without any hesitation. The place was packed! Standing room only for quite a while until the crowd thinned out. Great ambiance with some live music to boot.

04/12/2025: After sharing my disappointing experience on the establishment's Instagram page following my 2024 visit to this restaurant, the company's only response was to delete my comment and block me. So, I'm posting a review here where they can't delete it. Basically, I recently left a comment on the bar's Instagram page regarding what I consider a lack of consideration for Quebec/Francophone customers. All they could do was block me and delete my comment. Clearly, they didn't appreciate me calling them out on it 🤣🤣🤣 Honestly, I've never seen anything like it. A company blocking a customer after they complain is probably the worst thing a business can do when receiving a complaint. Deliberately ignoring a complaint instead of listening and potentially taking action to improve their business. For more context, after stumbling upon an Instagram reel from the company, I shared what I consider a lack of respect and consideration for a portion of their clientele. I wrote that in 2024, when I visited, I wasn't served in French, even though the establishment is located in Quebec and caters to a Montreal/Quebec clientele. The server spoke to me only in English the entire time, even though I spoke to her in French. I also pointed out that all of the company's online advertising is exclusively in English, despite targeting a Quebec clientele. I wanted to highlight what is undoubtedly a violation of the linguistic rights of Quebec customers. Because in Quebec, we all have the right to receive service in the province's official language. It's a fundamental right, and I never received service in my language during my visit. When I commented on it, the business chose to ignore and block me, deleting my comment. It would be nice to respect the fundamental right of Quebecers to be served and to have access to all business information in their language. But clearly, this establishment thinks otherwise. I understand it's an Irish pub, so there's an English-speaking aspect, but that's no reason not to serve customers in French when the establishment is located in Quebec. It's a shame to see that even in 2025, too many businesses in Montreal don't respect their Francophone clientele and aren't always able to serve the Quebec population in the province's only official language. On top of that, they impose English on their customers. There's no way I'm going back.

26/06/2025: What a pleasant surprise to find this place. I enjoyed a beautifully presented, tasty, nutritious and colourful plate of food. I had the wagyu burger which was gluten and dairy free and so delicious. The combinations of flavours were next level. The husband and wife owners are friendly and very helpful. Even though they were closing soon, they happily allowed me inside and accommodated me. I'll definitely be back soon!

14/06/2025: I love this place. Only found it for lunch 2 weeks ago and been back twice. Food is high standard/quality and simply delicious. There’s nothing on the menus I’ve seen that I would not eat/try. I just have to make a lot more return visits to get through the choices. Husband and wife run it and are lovely charming people, very friendly. And food is really reasonably priced considering the quality. Complete thumbs up, I’ll be a returning customer for sure. Lovely experience.

17/09/2024: All I can say is Heavenly! We ordered a carrot cake from L'Art du Chocolate for our friend's birthday and it was truly the most divinely gorgeous carrot cake any of us had ever had!! From the smooth chocolate mixed into the icing poured over the delectable cake filling topped with beautiful writing was the best birthday present we could have given her!! Just incredible! Thank you❤️

26/06/2025: Popped into JB Mahoney recently and honestly, what a find. It’s got that rare mix of proper character and a genuinely warm atmosphere that makes you feel like a regular, even if it’s your first visit. The Guinness? Spot on, creamy, smooth, poured with care. You can tell they take pride in it, which is more than you can say for a lot of places. And if you haven’t tried the Algerian, you’re missing out – bold, rich, and absolutely delicious. A proper pint to remember. The bar staff are brilliant, friendly, funny, and somehow manage to keep everything running smoothly even when it's packed. Even, the teachers chap I was speaking to inside. JB Mahoney’s strikes that perfect balance: welcoming, down-to-earth, but with real quality behind the bar. Whether you're in for a quiet one or a few rounds with mates, this place just gets it right.

17/11/2025: Too noisy in there. Difficult to relax and hear each other or have a conversation. Food wasn’t great. The burger didn’t taste fresh. Sauce tasted sour like it was not made fresh. Service from the young waitress was good and she was very polite. A let down because it has so much potential in a town with little competition.

16/11/2025: My daughter was visiting from London and we took her to the Maharajah. She said it was the best curry she had ever had! On our frequent visits to the restaurant we have never been disappointed. Highly recommended.
