The best restaurants in Kildare

10/11/2025: Great to see a restaurant of this standard in Kildare. With the Hangman’s closed, we’ve been short of somewhere special locally, and O’Dooles has definitely stepped up. It’s a proper night-out spot – not just a pub meal. We had a group of 15 last night and everything was excellent. Service was friendly and attentive without being over the top, the atmosphere was relaxed, and the place is spotless. The wine list is well chosen and fairly priced, drinks looked great, and the food was full of flavour across all courses. We also had a coeliac with us and the kitchen handled it perfectly – clear communication, careful preparation, and a gluten-free starter made fresh, which was very much appreciated. It’s great to have somewhere like this on our doorstep in Kildare. Highly recommended and we’ll definitely be back.

07/11/2025: We had a really lovely experience in O'Dooles restaurant for my brother’s birthday. The staff were fantastic and the food was amazing from start to finish. Great cocktail menu and lovely bar area for a pre dinner drink. Margarita was fab. The prawn starter was delish and the chickpea fritter to start was exceptional. Everyone enjoyed the main courses the Seabass for me was perfect and so flavorsome and my brother was very happy with the Veal chop. Desserts were great and the Cheeseboard - we are all still thinking about it! Great atmosphere in the restaurant. We can’t wait to go back. Thanks again to all the team at O’Dooles!

14/11/2025: The place is lovely, I like how they have seasonal decorations, it really brightens up the village. The coffee and pastry’s are lovely and the staff are very welcoming and lovely to chat with. I like getting my coffee, they have a lot of range and you can ask for more. Glad they are getting to celebrate their 6th year opening here’s hoping for another successful six years.

03/06/2026: Stunning hotel grounds and setup.. Room was filthy with pubic hairs in bathroom, stains on the bed! Spa jacuzzi was broken, pool water freezing, water dripping from the roof and the place was dirty… Really not good enough.. Management don’t reply back to emails and really couldn’t care less about customer feedback… Not good enough for the price charged

03/06/2026: My wife and I had the pleasure of hosting 150 people for our daughter's wedding earlier this May. Everything was perfect, even the weather. We had The ceremony outdoors on the lawn, drinks in the manor house and courtyard, and then the reception in a marquee on the back lawn. It was absolutely exquisite. The only thing better than the venue were the people who worked at the Carton House. The wedding could not have been more perfect and we thank everyone for all their hard work. David

10/06/2026: Me and my friends ( girls in our 20s) went out to celebrate in Town leixlip. While the food and cocktail were of a good standard. The service was absolutely appalling. We waited 35 minutes for a drinks ordered by their online option, the restaurant had 11 tables present at the time.We had to flag the waitress down for menus, then proceeded to wait 30+ minutes after receiving the menus to order food and drink. When we requested the bill our waitress handed us our bill and proceeded to watch TikTok( was audible to the customers) until we flagged her down again. Despite this, the cocktails were lovely and the bartender was lovely and very apologetic about the wait times. Overall I would not recommend this restaurant as the food and drink did not override the overall APPALLING service.

31/05/2026: We ordered the spicy margaritas, but there was nothing spicy about them. There were only a few tiny pieces of chili, barely noticeable. It tasted more like lemonade with tequila than an actual margarita. Very disappointing, especially if you’re expecting a proper spicy margarita

16/01/2026: Food was good. Group of 5 couples so in total we paid a large bill. When we came to pay the owner refused to allow us to pay separately as couples. We won't be going back there again!

16/06/2026: We found the menu attractive, the restaurant busy on a Monday night and the staff very pleasant. Unfortunately, we did nt eat there but got up and left. We explained our reason to the polite staff. Rustic were charging 10 euro for a single measure of ordinary Jameson and adding in a coke it would come to just under 15 euro. My husband on principle felt he could not support such extortionate price.

09/06/2026: Beautiful cafe in a wonderful setting... we had coffee, cakes and our dog had her very own puppacino all while sitting under the trees. Lovely staff also - highly recommended!

29/03/2026: I sometimes get a flat white with oat milk in these kind of forest-walk places, and often I'm underwhelmed. But this place was surprisingly good!

30/04/2026: Genuinely best pub in maynooth. Jamie and Rebecca are the best, they make you feel so welcome . Food and drinks are spectacular ! Everyone needs to come. Guinness class.

19/09/2025: Honestly the best bar ive been in in my life, friendly staff and super accommodating, never have i been to another bar like this. Caoimhe does some of the best cocktails ive had, and i do drink cocktails from all over the land. They also have some of the best Guinness too, and doesnt put you out of pocket.

20/04/2026: What a delight! Both the Café itself and the food. It was a pleasure to visit again, the food was excellent, the staff were amazing and the Sunday lunch was a treat for a tired passer by. With options for changes of the meals to make them suitable for various diets, large portions and accompanied with excellent coffee, this place is well worth a trip on its own.
