It’s not the most extraordinary dining experience, but it’s definitely a solid spot if you’re looking for a casual, comfortable place to eat.

13/03/2025: I eat very regularly at Rios. My favourite take away in the town. Staff are very friendly and love to have the catch up. The food and service is always great with ingredients always being fresh. They're always constantly upgrading the takeaway too. There's a great seating area which feels like home if you want a date with a loved one or a chat with Friends. Believe it or not they also have coffee and bars of chocolate which is very unique for the takeaways in the town! Would absolutely recommend.

Very tasty and fresh ingredients used, lovely and friendly staff.

10/02/2025: I just arrived back to Ireland having lived abroad for many years & honestly I haven’t found a restaurant so wonderful & consistent as Brew. From the moment I go into it, I feel at home, from the owner, Tom, the friendly efficient staff & the delicious menu, tastefully presented, would keep one returning. I recommend BREW , I guarantee you will never be disappointed !

06/02/2025: Myself and my two sisters stayed here for a night on a spa break offer, which included a 3 course dinner, breakfast, use of thermal suite and a treatment from a selection of 5. The whole stay was excellent. Food was delicious and the spa was so relaxing. Highly recommend!

We visited Akayu recently as we have not been able to go in recent months .OMG, it’s as good if not better. Absence definitely makes the heart grow fonder. The sushi platter, chilli chicken and duck in hot herb sauce are outstanding.
As always, we received a warm welcome followed by friendly attentive service from Cindy and her team. Highly recommend this restaurant.
Love Akayu. It is our favourite restaurant in Portlaoise. Cindy and her team are excellent and the food is delicious. Highly recommend the sushi platter and also their hot herb sauce is excellent. Top class service and top class food.
20/02/2025: I'm a different foods lover but sushi is a different level in there. If u are around Portlaoise you have to come in,sit down and try menus there .

19/02/2025: Cheese and Ham Toastie was lovely. As already noted by other reviewers - there is practically nothing on the menu for small children. A slice of toast was 2 euro, and burnt. Luckily I had brought a packed lunch just in case. With a focus on fresh produce, it would be nice to see some fruit being offered to kids with option of 'normal' white sliced bread or a freshly baked roll, rather than sourdough.
