01/09/2025: Fantastic full irish breakfast! We were dying on our way home from Electric Picnic, stopped in here for some breakfast, walked out like whole new women. 10/10 recommend and the staff are lovely!

29/08/2025: I had hoped for the break to coincide with our wedding anniversary. Unfortunately, a family situation altered that plan. So when we got the opportunity. We booked at short notice. I mentioned 'candidly' to Aggie about our anniversary and she pulled out a few stops for us to help make the stay more meaningful and special. Our room was upgraded with a welcome gift waiting for us. Thank you Aggie and all the staff. The rooms and all aspects about the hotel was clean and fresh. Food, drinks and service was always very good. We would have no problem recommending this hotel in the future

16/06/2025: Slightly misunderstood, I was expecting Hotpot to feature on the menu so was a bit disappointed when there was none. .
The sandwiches and salad are pretty good though and the chips are tasty. Also, importantly, the chips were hot.
The soup was tasty but slightly over seasoned to my taste. Normally I don’t use salt, so even a little bit makes a strong hit for me.
There were a couple of families eating at nearby tables and the kids were well catered for and the servers were very good with the young ones.
Service was good, efficient & friendly.
Price wise it was pretty reasonable too.

We had Carvery lunch and it's our favourite. Staff very friendly and professional. Food Delicious 😋

11/05/2025: The food was good, it all went very very sour when we were about to leave, my wife and daughter went outside to wait for me to settle the bill. Then the waiter ran out through the door and accused then of trying to skip paying and me standing in que to pay. I did not get any kind of apology for the error they made. My family were very embarrassed. I was very disappointed with their lack of professionalism and would never darken their door again. My recommendations are not good for this cafe.

14/08/2025: I think this is my favourite coffee in Portlaoise. Creamy and smooth coffee.
Friendly staff, they welcome dogs - even has a water bowl outside for the furry pets - and the kids always have delicious options to choose from.
Love the vibe.

03/08/2025: Located in a historic building, the hotel offers spacious and comfortable rooms. The furnishings are obviously antique, but this adds to the place's charm. The hotel has a highly recommended restaurant serving excellent Irish cuisine.
