Came In here once to escape the chills of winter, but with nice stools and counters to have your coffee or hot chocolate at, I've come back time and time again.
Great drinks at great prices with the woman who works here always coming across as kind and approachable.
19/11/2023: Excellent coffee in a shop packed with interesting wines and a great range of quality fancy foods. Lovely staff too.

21/09/2023: Nora's Cake Shop in Mountmellick. Cozy café, nicely decorated. Sweet and friendly hostess. But the coffee service was disappointing. The waitress accidentally spilled coffee on the saucer on the way. Both pieces of pastries turned out to be very sweet. 4 stars for the food. 5 stars for the atmosphere. 3 stars for the service.

26/03/2024: The food was absolutely fantastic. A table for 4 enjoyed the tasting menu on Saturday 23/3. Really impressive and a good comparison with Dublin Tasting Menus. Variety, flavours, presentation and absolutely service- all amazing.
Great knowledge on wines from sommelier with great quality without Dublin additional supplement. Not cheap -
However we would say value for money. Well done 👏
09/03/2024: I had the pleasure of dining here yesterday evening with a friend. We were greeted by a lovely lady, who remained so attentive all evening. We began with their new Spring cocktail, and opted for starter, main, dessert over the taster menu. I had the best tasting meal I've ever experienced! Scallops to start followed by venison and chocolate soufflé to finish.
This beautiful restaurant cannot be faulted. Friendly staff that know the menu inside-out, amazingly presented food that tastes even better than it looks! I'm so pleased to have this gem so close to home. I cannot wait to return!

The Castle Arms Hotel

27/03/2024: Attended a recent Darts Night with my grandson in Castle Arms Hotel.
Had previously posted a request in anticipation of making our night more enjoyable.
The owner sought me out in bar/restaurant and went far and beyond in fulfilling my grandson’s wishes.
Thanks to his help it turned out to be a fantastic night and one that will stay with us forever.
A very well run hotel from food and beverages in front bar through to continued professionalism in function room.
I would highly recommend this venue and hope to see you all again soon.

Maldron Hotel Portlaoise
01/04/2024: Outside Old Trafford they have a statue of Sir Matt , outside St James pk they have a statue of Sir Bobby Robson.
Outside the Maldron in Port Laois they should have a Statue of Josh.
Had to change the dates of the stay due to a family bereavement.

Booked a standard room, it's massive really comfy, spotless clean.
Dinner was lovely, Breakfast was unreal great choices and Hotel parking is easy and free.
Thanks for a great stay. Really enjoyed it.
28/03/2024: Great place for the family and I to spend a night away, great restaurant and a fantastic swimming pool. Not too far from portlaoise town where there are many shops, bars and restaurants to choose from. Also a short drive from the hotel is the famous rock of dunamase. These old ruins are in a very strategic position on a high hill over Laois and further a field. Sadly destroyed by Cromwells forces but they tell a tale of a much different time in Ireland

16/12/2023: Nice place in Portlaoise town, reasonable parking, freshly baked stuff, standard coffee with standard rates comparable to big hrands like costa or star bucks. Loved their VEGETABLE ROLLS and delicious scones with yummy jam.
Would advice them to add more vegetarian options in sandwiches as plenty of indian / pakistani fmailies are settling in Portlaoise and this could be a go to place for quick bites
