The best restaurants in Limerick

20/06/2025: Extremely Disappointing, Treated Like We Didn’t Exist As a local and long-time regular at MJ Finnegans, I was genuinely shocked by the poor treatment we received. We arrived around 6:30 PM on a Friday, with the restaurant nearly empty inside. We stood there for over 10 minutes, clearly seen by staff who simply chose to ignore us. Eventually, we asked a server outside about getting a table and were bluntly told, “We’re not taking any more food orders.” No apology, no explanation. Meanwhile, other tables outside were still being served, and two reserved tables, not yet occupied, were clearly waiting on food. To make matters worse, we overheard another customer say they’d been waiting over an hour for a single main course. This wasn’t about being busy. It was pure disinterest and a lack of basic hospitality. As a loyal customer, I was left feeling unwelcome and insulted. Won’t be back.

10/06/2025: Horrible experience here Friday 6th of June. 30 of us booked from cork weeks in advance via email for 9.30pm. 2 of our group had arrived and tables were set up with our name all set for a great evening. Me and 2 more of our group were the next to arrive and the bouncers immediately said “not tonight lads” before we had opened our mouths. I repeatedly explained we had paid 100€ booking deposit and had many emails booking our event. The bouncers repeatedly tapped the sign on the door saying management can refuse the right to entry to anyone. I calmly and repeatedly asked for a reason and I got none. They didn’t say too drunk, they just didn’t give a reason. The event was booked for the beginning of my stag. I was wearing normal going out clothes but I had a rainbow captains armband on my arm for a bit of a laugh for the stag. Unless there is some sort of homophobic element to being turned away, we could not fathom a reason. I asked for a manager and one man appeared and did the same tapping of the sign the previous bouncer had done. I once again explained that my booking deposit was taken of 100€, I explained that we had bookings and emails. 2 members of our group already inside had sent pictures of the tables with our names on them and he would not give me a reason for refusal. When I asked the manager for his name as I said I would be emailing he said his name was “Jerry flannery” to which the other 2 bouncers laughed hard at indicating that he was not Jerry Flannery the owner of the pub. A quick google search showed his real name is Will Morgan. I will admit after travelling for 2 hours and having my event ruined I passed a comment about their parents being proud of 3 men in their 40s turning away a pre booked party for 40 in an otherwise empty pub. I also mentioned I would be sending an email and doing a review to which Will just laughed and once again tapped the sign. Absolutely disgusting and disgraceful carry on from the bouncers and “management”. I hope the real Jerry sees this and realises his management and bouncers have a great laugh of turning away €1,500 worth of spending that the group of 30 of us spent down the road at Charlie Chaplins down the road who were happy to take us and save the night with no trouble at all. Feel free to check in with Eddie in Charlie Chaplins the bouncer who has much more accommodating with our stag group despite us not having booked at all or paid a deposit.

08/06/2025: Nice bar in limerick city ,cosy atmosphere but very busy especially at weekends.

21/06/2025: A great little "local" pub, where everyone knew each other. I was welcomed as one of the locals and even invited to join the conversation. I only stopped for one but it was well worth it.

02/07/2025: I’ve been visiting Greenhills in Limerick quite often, and every time, the experience has been top-notch. I would especially like to give a big shout-out to Stephen, the bartender, who consistently goes above and beyond. Stephen’s friendly attitude, and genuine hospitality really make us feel comfortable. Whether it’s remembering your usual drink or just having a great chat across the bar counter, he makes everyone feel welcome. Highly recommend stopping by Greenhills and if Stephen’s on duty, you are in for a great time. Cheers!

24/06/2025: A very busy hotel. Quickly seated and orders taken, drinks brought. We were a party of 3, and food was outstanding, each having something different. So good in fact we went back for lunch 2day. Same varied menu and each of us again went for something different. Again outstanding. Huge parking available. Deserves its 5 stars for food and service.

09/05/2025: Stani was so accommodating to my last minute request for a cake. 1 week before. We emailed a few times and she took the order. Arrived to collect on a Sunday and it was amazingly done. Loads of detail on the cake. We expected this to be a chocolate biscuit cake ( as i hadnt specified a preferance and that is the norm usually) but when we cut in we were delighted to see a 4 layer chocolate sponge and chocolate buttercream icing. The cake was delicious and everyone enjoyed it so much at the celebration. It was well presented and

13/06/2025: Thanks very much for the no fuss value for money service today. Super range of mens clothing for all age groups and taste. Only found out today that most people call "Trousers" "Pants". The trousers must be an East Cork thing!! Thanks again and best wishes for the future.

10/06/2025: Party of 4 travelers. Stopped in for a quick lunch. My wife had risotto and I had a spinach strudel. Both were far higher in quality than the price would have implied. The staff was super friendly. Strongly recommended! Can't go wrong...

02/05/2025: Lovely café with A 1 coffee, sweet treats and toasted sandwiches. Staff are very friendly There are outdoor tables for 4 people and a bar in the window. Would be even nicer if there was more seating options and an option for ceramic cups and plates, rather than disposable

14/04/2025: Gluten free Purchased a gluten free cajon chicken bap today. Coeliacs find it so so hard to “grab a sandwich” both in Limerick and nationwide. It is one of the very few places that have this option and recognise gluten free for a quick bite. The bap was amazing and I’m already excited to try the Caprese one. 5 stars!!

01/05/2025: Fish was disgusting. Was a frozen fish half cooked. Couldn't eat it. One bag of our chips were all bits, not full chips, major decline in food here.
