25/05/2025: Difficult! Saltees is a hotel/motel with a restaurant. The food is delicious and of good quality, the service is good, and the staff is friendly.
But: The restaurant atmosphere is unworthy of a high-class hotel. The seating seems cheap, the ambiance lacks motivation, and the bar is a permanent fixture—including drunk and rowdy guests. Furthermore, there's a pool table right next to the restaurant tables, within easy reach of the cues.
It's a real shame.
03/11/2024: We went to Saltee Coast Hotel retsurant for food only so can't comment on accommodation. But the hotel seems very well maintained. It is slightly away from overcrowded Kilmore Quay, which was exactly what we were looking for. We went there bit late for lunch after exploring saltee island. We were welcomed warmly and served with really tasty fish n chips. I have to say this was a really tasty fish n chips I had in long time. Highly recommend this place.

Definetly not the cheapest, but I would go again!
27/08/2024: Had the cajun chicken today which was absolutely gorgeous. The fresh fruit and seeds were a lovely touch. Was on my own but sat up at a counter and ended up having a good chat with 2 strangers. Very enjoyable experience. Will return.

05/07/2025: I can only rate the local summer market. I have never been to the pub itself. Bar the chipper which I wouldn't recommend unfortunately.
The market is every Wednesday 10am-1pm. Mostly crafts but there were a few food stalls absent the day we went. Lovely to see local produce and businesses showcase their stock. It's small, friendly and there's the usual mobile coffee van. Decent enough coffee, hot chocolate option for kids. Bit pricey for very small hot chocolates. You can sit in the Orphan Girl outdoor seating. Plenty of places to sit, it wasn't busy when we went.
Plenty of parking.
Overall - nice way to spend an hour.

08/03/2025: Really disappointing as have enjoyed the food when visiting in person. However, the takeaway/delivery service is horrific. Waiting close to two hours for an order for two people. Tried calling for 30 minutes to see how much longer and the phone was consistently engaged. A delay in delivery is one thing but not being able to get through and speak to someone is another. Definitely do not recommend for takeaway with delivery.

14/02/2025: It's pretty much your average "coffee shop" with a moderate coffee choice, some baked goods, and pre-made cold sandwiches. The coffee was ok, as was the sandwich. So long as you don't hope for it being "awesome" you won't be disappointed.
