21/01/2025: Ireland is greatly lacking in places where you can get a decent pie. First time at the Black Market so decided to try these guys. I had the Beef & Beamish pie meal (side of mash with some slaw & salad). The pie was delicious and the mash was smooth and creamy. Service was fast and I liked that the packaging was recyclable. A little pricey for what it is but will definitely go back.

13/05/2025: We booked foxglove for a hen party & was honestly the hi-light of the entire night! Tara was such good craic, such a pleasure to deal with & totally got the vibe! No ask was too much! Would reccomend whole heartedly to anyone ❤️

18/08/2024: The best pizza in Ireland. These folks know what they’re doing. Super friendly too. We asked for a Garlic Cheese Pizza bread which isn’t something that was on the menu and they made it fresh with raw garlic and suggested adding a bit of olive oil too. It was 12 out of 10!! Thanks folks!

25/08/2025: Another day, another cruffin. I absolutely love this place and I would eat anything that comes out of their oven. Special mention to any kind of cruffin and almond croissants. Their coffee is delicious too! Overall a must visit in Cork!

24/08/2025: I'm a regular at The Grumpy Bakers and big big fan. I always recommend them to friends visiting Cork, they're just the best. - Their coffee? Gorgeous. Really good speciality coffee, 10/10 great choice of beans. - Baked goods? Fabulous. Always changing in rotation so when you're curious about something new, you need to commit and get it before it sells out and/or is replaced with something equally tempting. I was inspired to finally post a review after I risked it all on a cherry cruffin this morning and floated out of my chair in ecstasy on my first bite. - Staff? S e x y. Really helpful, knowledgeable about their goods and sources, and just overall super lovely even when they're swamped with customers at their busiest hours. I'll be in for another one of their enormous quality sandwiches and a coffee soon for sure. Thank you guys!

09/08/2025: Nice atmosphere, authentic background music, complimentary bites of bread offered on arrival. Great selection on the menu, we stayed with the Italian selection and had pizza & pasta, both delicious. Service was outstanding, lovely guys running this place, natural, welcoming & funny. Overall a lovely evening. Will definitely return.

25/08/2025: Popped in with my wife on a Saturday evening and wow was it busy!!! A great sign for a place right? First, the food. The menu is very interesting with an excellent selection. I had pickled muscles for start, and the rump for main. The pickled muscles were tasty, but somewhat lacking the actual flavour of being pickled. The Rump was a touch overdone and not served with a side which was surprising. My wife had fried oysters to start, and steak tartar for main. I see in other comments that the owner has defended the cost while talking about challenging prices in the business. I would see this as fair, however, it would stand to reason that serving a steak in sauce and nothing else with it is a somewhat sad looking plate. If other business are managing a little something on the side, it may be worth taking a look at how the dish is presented here. The atmosphere was busy, however downside of this was that it would be easier to hold a conversation next to a screaming toddler than here due to the mighty background noise. This is not really the fault of the restaurant as it is the size that it is, just be aware that you may need to perfect your lip reading before arriving. The staff were lovely and very helpful so a big thanks to them! Would I come back? No, too loud but that is just a me problem.

18/08/2025: Wonderful , high quality, beautifully presented & tasty dishes in a relaxed setting.. 3 chose Duck leg - I had Rump steak. Duck parfait starter & others had Otsters in hot sauce. Delicious chips & veg. Decadent flourless chocolate slice - YUM. 2 bottles of Wine. €250 including Tip.

21/07/2025: We always really enjoy breakfast and lunch here. Great coffee and choice of food. On this occasion we had our little baby with us. I was very disappointed to find out that they are not entirely baby friendly… there was no changing facility.. no changing table and while they have high chairs no where to comfortably or safely change babies. I had to sit on the closed toilet and balance the baby. Staff recommended I go across to the SuperValu. There is plenty of room to attach a changing table to the wall. One girl apologized I felt the others really could not see my point. Very disappointed in 2025 that this is acceptable.
