The best restaurants in Cork city council

19/10/2025: Came here last night to celebrate my birthday and the staff really went out of their way to make me feel special. You can tell the people who work here really enjoy what they do. Couldn’t have asked for a better evening thanks so much to every at Luigi Malones.

10/10/2025: For beer, order the Murphy, a Cork-only beer. It has a really smooth head and a great flavor. For food, I ordered BBQ Baby Pork Ribs and Shrimp Fajitas, which perfectly suited my Korean palate. The pork ribs were a bit bland, so I asked for some BBQ sauce to dip them in, and it was perfect. The restaurant is spacious, comfortable, and friendly.

12/10/2025: What a hidden gem! We were on a girls weekend away in Cork and this dinner was a highlight. Valerie was so sweet and accommodating, and the atmosphere in the place was amazing. Would highly recommend!

10/10/2025: The food was delicious, the service friendly, and the wine list quite good, but the indoor area had a strong cooking and oily smell. It lingered on our clothes, and we had to wash them all when we got back to the hotel.

03/11/2025: 03/11/2025 at 14:15. Ordered a hot chocolate and a kinder mocha. Server barely even looked at us as she gave us the drinks, while continuing to chat to a coworker. Gave us the wrong drinks, wouldn’t have been as bad if she wasn’t so rude.

23/08/2025: A truly welcoming bar! The staff is friendly and very professional, always attentive to customer needs; the atmosphere is clean and meticulously maintained. Ideal for both a quick break and a relaxing moment. Highly recommended!

21/09/2025: 5 star 100 percent. Excellent service and food was just amazing . We arrived with no booking but this wasn't a problem and was swiftly brought to a table . Our food arrived shortly after ordering and it was just amazing , portions were large and cooked perfectly. I would highly recommend visiting this place . We will definitely be back next time we are in the area . Well done to everyone working at The Model Farm 👏👏

10/10/2025: Great soft serve. The oat based option is fantastic. The dark chocolate sauce and fruit topping make it all vegan. But the vegan options could be better shown on the menu.

20/09/2025: We visited Swoon for the first time today roughly around 5pm. Behind the counter was the most pleasant server by the name of Matthew. Very smiley and happy, overall just a complete breath of fresh air! Lovely to see.

20/10/2025: I really like coughlans (great pints) but I have to say something about the gig venue. We were at Luka Bloom yesterday and the set up was bad. Great to see Luka but I had to leave halfway through. First of all there were too many chairs in the small space (seated gig). It was also boiling. This meant that we were jammed in a sweat box with no room to move. After a short time sweat was pumping off us and not being able to move meant I was in agony. To top it off the chairs weren’t linked so anyone could push their chair back, pinning the person behind them. I know they won’t do it (as they’d lose money) but a fix would be to get rid of a line of chairs. This would give everyone some room. Also link the chairs so people can’t move them. When I couldn’t take it any more and finally dragged myself out of our row (couldn’t do it without literally stepping on people’s feet) I had to take a minute to calm down in the outside area. I’ve been going to gigs all my life and never had this experience. I hope they take these points on board.

03/11/2025: I tried this restaurant on the advice of a dear friend. It was exceptional. The food was the most authentic I have ever experienced, full of flavour and nicely presented. The staff were plesant and attentive. I will certainly be visiting this restaurant again and recommend that you don't hesitate.

05/11/2025: Ordered a coffee and a sausage roll, but after waiting 25 minutes, I still hadn't gotten the sausage roll. I then had to join the very slow moving queue to reorder the item which I had already paid for. When I finally reached the top of the queue, I was met with attitude from the person behind the counter, and was offered no apology. I then had a lukewarm microwaved sausage roll and a cold coffee for which I paid over €8.

05/11/2025: Excellent coffee with beans from all over the world, from Ethiopia to Colombia. If you're looking for a great speciality coffee, this is the place for you. If you want to have a coffee, read a good book or write, this is also a great place. A coffee shop for everyone in Cork.

02/12/2025: Went in on Sunday past and was greeted by a nice young lad behind the bar. Place looked ideal for what I wanted which was to watch the football. I Ordered a cup of tea as it was before 12.30 and chicken fillet burger. The food was the worst I’ve had in a long time. I ate about a quarter of it and stopped and wasn’t asked why by a different older server when he lifted the plate. Just asked if if I was finished. I had said please no tomato and I had doorstep size chunks on the plate, I asked for garlic mayo for the chips and it was all smothered over the burger and was way too much, the chips also very mid, the bap was solid as a rock and the coleslaw was clearly put into the ramekin the day before with no cover in the fridge as it had a skin on it. I left 20 minutes into the game as I was starving. If you’re hungry don’t even entertain this place for a second in my opinion

03/11/2025: Has become one of my favourite spots for pizza and a pint. Staff are always sound. The pizza and pint offer is great.

28/10/2025: Came in for food and drinks with a group of friends who are all 19 and 20 years old at 8pm on a quiet Tuesday night.We ordered the pizza and pint deal.Bar staff (two blonde girls) were shockingly rude, they laughed in our faces and said that they were over 20s and suggested we try a “fizzy drink” instead. Then they charged us for miwadi , safe to say we will not be returning or recommending Tom Barry’s to anyone soon.

19/10/2025: I know this place is called The Grumpy Baker but I didn’t realize that was referring to your experience. Absolutely never leave reviews but our experience was so ridiculous I had to say something. My friends and I stopped in for a quick bite to eat. Two of us had tea we had just grabbed from the market but the rest did not. We all ordered a ton of food and coffee. The place was only slightly busy and had plenty of tables open but they all had reserved signs on them. When we asked if we were staying, we mentioned the signs and were told that they only put reserved signs to literally deter people from sitting down because of how busy they get. Red flag number one. Secondly they charge you more for eating there as opposed to take away. Which is just weird. I don’t know if that’s common in Ireland but it certainly isn’t in the States. Red flag number two. When we told the girl we’d eat in, a different staff member mentioned we couldn’t stay with tea from somewhere else. Which we very easily agreed too and said that’s fine we’d take away. The blonde girl taking our order (which I’ve seen other reviews talking about how rude she was) then continued to bring it up after we calmly agreed to leave saying that it’s disrespectful to their business for us to have brought it in. Even after these comments, we completely understood and said it’s fine we’ll take away. We then proceeded to move over to wait for our food only to stand there watching at the very least 6 other people come and go with their food. Almost the entire place was cleared out and we still hadn’t received our order. At that point I was almost positive the blonde girl serving us was doing this on purpose because she walked past us several times and refused to look at us. It seemed that she was more interested in being on her phone and chatting to her coworkers than asking us why we were still waiting. After who only knows how long, a completely separate staff member who was incredibly kind asked us what we were missing. Once we told him our order, he got us out right away, which means that girl just didn’t get our order ready since we watched this employee put our order in the oven. It was so wild. All in all this was a horrible experience and the name of the business says it all. The food wasn’t bad but it definitely wasn’t good enough for us to ever deal with that again. For the rest of our trip, our group could not stop talking about how insane our experience there was. Will not recommend.

28/11/2025: We couldn't have chosen a better place, with a welcoming atmosphere and live music. The staff were very friendly and the food was excellent. We'll definitely be back when we return to Cork!
