The Grumpy Bakers
Cork
24/10/2025: Friendly staff, delicious cake, great value, only criticism I could make would be the music is a touch loud?
19/10/2025: I know this place is called The Grumpy Baker but I didn’t realize that was referring to your experience. Absolutely never leave reviews but our experience was so ridiculous I had to say something. My friends and I stopped in for a quick bite to eat. Two of us had tea we had just grabbed from the market but the rest did not. We all ordered a ton of food and coffee. The place was only slightly busy and had plenty of tables open but they all had reserved signs on them. When we asked if we were staying, we mentioned the signs and were told that they only put reserved signs to literally deter people from sitting down because of how busy they get. Red flag number one. Secondly they charge you more for eating there as opposed to take away. Which is just weird. I don’t know if that’s common in Ireland but it certainly isn’t in the States. Red flag number two. When we told the girl we’d eat in, a different staff member mentioned we couldn’t stay with tea from somewhere else. Which we very easily agreed too and said that’s fine we’d take away. The blonde girl taking our order (which I’ve seen other reviews talking about how rude she was) then continued to bring it up after we calmly agreed to leave saying that it’s disrespectful to their business for us to have brought it in. Even after these comments, we completely understood and said it’s fine we’ll take away. We then proceeded to move over to wait for our food only to stand there watching at the very least 6 other people come and go with their food. Almost the entire place was cleared out and we still hadn’t received our order. At that point I was almost positive the blonde girl serving us was doing this on purpose because she walked past us several times and refused to look at us. It seemed that she was more interested in being on her phone and chatting to her coworkers than asking us why we were still waiting. After who only knows how long, a completely separate staff member who was incredibly kind asked us what we were missing. Once we told him our order, he got us out right away, which means that girl just didn’t get our order ready since we watched this employee put our order in the oven. It was so wild. All in all this was a horrible experience and the name of the business says it all. The food wasn’t bad but it definitely wasn’t good enough for us to ever deal with that again. For the rest of our trip, our group could not stop talking about how insane our experience there was. Will not recommend.

Ristorante Rossini
Cork
15/04/2026: I ordered the seafood pasta with a side of garlic bread and unfortunately it was quite disappointing. I had visited a few years ago and ordered the same dish, which was beautifully presented (served in a tinfoil swan) and absolutely delicious, so I was really looking forward to it again.
This time it was a completely different experience. The pasta was covered in a bland tomato sauce and the seafood was overcooked. The garlic bread was also very poor, the bread itself tasted dry and the garlic butter wasn’t fully melted.
It’s a shame as I used to rave about this place, but based on this visit, I wouldn’t be recommending it anymore.
12/04/2026: A top-notch culinary experience, refined dishes featuring excellent ingredients and meticulously presented. Thanks to Chef Achille, who amazed us with bold yet perfectly balanced pairings! Impeccable service, highly recommended!

Bocelli
Cork
13/04/2026: Amazing food served by kind and great waiters. Definitely recommend anyone who wants to eat Italian to go to this restaurant.
06/04/2026: I've had a risotto pollo, Crème Brûlée and an Aperol Spritz.
The risotto portion was reasonable, could have been a bit more creamier when compared to the ones which i've had in other places. The reason being, i was not feeling as full as the other places after a plate of risotto. An extra handful off grated parmesan would have done it. The roti like bread with garlic butter, which came with it was toning down the flavour of the otherwise delicious Risotto(i would avoid it next time). The greens on top gave a nice balance with the bitter texture to the rich dish. The milk chocolate on top of the Crème Brûlée was unnecessary(Just my opinion). It was adding more sweetness on top of the perfectly balance of sweetness of the real dessert. It also made the actual caramelized sugar layer slightly soggy because the milk chocolate was melting on top of it. The next time i go there i am going to personally ask to skip the milk chocolate and to increase the layer of caramelized sugar instead :) .
I definitely left as a happy customer at the end and will definitely return for more.

An Spailpin Fánac
Cork
26/01/2026: There were three very skilled boys playing what sounded very much like pub music, and the atmosphere perfectly complemented that. A girl who was studying Irish dance taught some of the boys; it was a very good experience.

Maryborough Hotel & Spa
Cork
12/04/2026: Had a brilliant experience at the spa. Got a back, neck and shoulder massage, a facial and a scalp massage. My masseuse Lucy was absolutely brilliant would highly recommend. The facilities were so nice and clean. Definitely will go again.
10/04/2026: This hotel in Cork, Ireland is such a beauty!! It used to be a mansion constructed for the Newenham family, wealthy Anglo-Irish landowners. Influential in politics and economic thought in 18th-century in Cork.
The property began as a Georgian country house built around 1710–1715. It officially opened as a hotel in 1997.
The estate was known as Maryborough House. It’s an elegant Georgian Architecture, surrounded by 18 acres of gardens. Back then, it was used for hosting local social gatherings and high-society events.
It was named after Queen Mary I of England (Mary Tudor).
Today, it’s one of Cork’s best examples of a restored Georgian Estate. I have to say, that for being 316 years old, the property smells like a JW Marriott Hotel, no musty or weird old smells anywhere. It’s smells like flowers and everything is new and super clean, zero dust. The carpet throughout the entire property looks like new. The staff?? AMAZING customer service. We have been here 3 days now and have been treated like royalty (literally). We decided to have tea last night in the reception area by the fireplace, and not only they brought the tea from the restaurant, but they moved furniture around so we could have a table for the tea right in front of the fireplace (without having to ask). We also needed something in the room past midnight, not even 2 mins later, delivered.
The upscale/luxury property is known now for being a popular venue for weddings and conferences (one wedding happening today) and although it has been restored, it has maintained its identity as a heritage property, blending old and new.
It has a very nice spa, called ESPA (high end brand). And an Award-winning restaurant (AA Rosette) on site called Bellini, known for upscale Irish cuisine, using local ingredients. We had lunch the day we arrived and dinner the following night, the food and service was OUTSTANDING!!!
3rd from last picture, used to be the owner’s suite. It looks like a ballroom now but it’s where they slept. When I walked in I felt so many good vibes, for some reason….And no, the mansion is not known for being haunted.
Totally recommend this hotel in Ireland!! 🥰
