05/07/2025: We had the most amazing meal celebrating two family birthdays, the food was excellent and very prompt,the staff where friendly and very attentive, the setting is quirky, quaint and very cosy, highly recommend a visit 😊

02/07/2025: So glad I stumbled onto this place somewhere on social media before going to the area- I absolutely loved this gem of a spot! Cosy atmosphere with the stone walls and artwork, amazing service, great food- the chowder is good (award winning even, but I'm from New England so my standards for chowder are quite high lol) but the goats cheese salad with chicken that I had was the biggest and most delicious salad I've ever had in my life! I also got a couple pastries to go and they were divine. Highly recommend this spot- the service was excellent, food was excellent- you won't be disappointed!

13/05/2025: The girls and I visited The Ubiquitous Restaurant Buncrana on the busy May bank holiday, and it was an absolutely fab experience from start to finish. Despite being quite busy, the atmosphere was great, had an amazing buzz, and the staff couldn’t have been better, they were very attentive, friendly, and super welcoming. The food was to die for, very well done, really good quality, generous portions, plus such good value for money. The cocktails were easily the best I’ve had in town. Really excited to go back for literally any occasion I can—highly recommended!

06/07/2025: We arrived here on Sunday without a reservation. We were very lucky because we finally got a seat, but it might be worth booking in advance. The place is very pleasant, the staff was constantly working on the service, it seemed that they were paying close attention to everything. The food was divine (OMG), and plentiful. Many small additional dishes made the dinner even more enjoyable. I would gladly come back here 🥰

19/07/2025: Disappointed as didn't live up to the hype. Booked DBB based on online and friend's reviews. pub garden was lovely, really good guinness. Dinner was average but well presented will give some benefit of doubt as the weather was really hot and probably hard to make certain items well e.g brioche, choux pastry. The oysters were ruined with a sweet chilli sauce that tasted like a well known bottled brand, fish accompments didn't have a lot of flavour, best part of the meal was the rose sorbet with dessert. Very disappointed with the wine list, range was ok but prices where significantly higher than the menu online e.g. €60 not €49! Room was fine although the water temporarily ran out. Breakfast was fine, didn't mind it being continental only, cheese portions were a little meagre and the trio of cold meats were straight from a supermarket packet selection (I did question the chorizo style one for breakfast but that's personal preference). Would go back for a drink but probably not food.

17/06/2025: Anyone traveling in this part of Ireland should definitely eat here. It's not more expensive than most pubs in the area, but the quality is significantly higher. A genuine fish restaurant with great dishes, but everything, as is typical for Ireland, is very relaxed and informal. Reservations seem to be absolutely necessary, though.

12/06/2025: Great meal out (pre-booked!) for a family birthday. The staff were very attentive and all very polite. There were clean plates all round (we ordered the trout, steak, chicken and monk fish, plus starters and dessert). It was a nice touch for the staff to sing happy birthday to one of our family members, with a lit candle in their dessert. Recommend and would happily return if we visit Killybegs again.

08/07/2025: Lovely place to stop off for lunch, very friendly staff and great service, had it done up very well, the food was very fresh and their soup was homemade and very tasty, will definitely recommend and stop there again, thank you.

20/06/2025: A typical pub. Great fish and chips. Perfect pints. A turf fire would have been nicer. Also some trad music. We were there at 6:30 PM on a Friday night 6/6/25. Made a rez (a must). They made us get up from our table as soon as we finished our meal. That ruined our craic and we left shortly thereafter.

17/07/2025: Excellent food. Seafood delight - we had seafood chowder, prawns & seafood linguine. Food was amazing, service was excellent.

16/07/2025: I can’t recommend the pizza here at all. We ordered three different pizzas and each of them had the same issue of the base being undercooked. For a restaurant that advertises itself as a seafood/steak/pizza restaurant 1/3 of the menu should be avoided based on this experience. I can’t speak to the rest of the food and hopefully the other things are better. The outdoor seating has great views of a car park and the post-modern, architectural wonder that is Aldi.

14/07/2025: Got the seafood box with chips which had 2 pieces of fried fish, 3 breaded shrimp and some calamari rings. Both the battered and breaded fish were fried perfectly and it's hard to choose which I liked better. The chips were light, crispy and lovely! And can't go wrong with the garlic mayo, nice creamy garlic to contrast the fresh lemon. Weather cooperated and it was a beautiful day to sit in the patio behind the shack.

11/07/2025: We patronised the restaurant only (not the hotel). It was our only nearby option at that time of evening. Im not sure the name of the room we were seated in, but there was absolutely no atmosphere. Tables were awkward and uncomfortable. Then the food we got was appalling. Complete lack of seasoning in the most basic of dishes. Texture was also very off. I will say the staff were generally pleasant.

06/07/2025: We returned for our second night in a row. As on the first the food was exquisite 😋😋. We ordered the same starters as last night. The seafood chowder was delicious. Tonight we had carbonara and my wife roast chicken, chips and salad. The food was piping hot and exactly what you want. The staff are so helpful and pleasant and listen very carefully to your order. There was a high turnover of guests but nobody was "rushed" from their table and we will definitely return when we are out this direction. Thank you to everyone at Lizzie's Diner. You made our meals a big part of our holiday and your prices were very sensible.👌👌👌
