The best restaurants in Donegal

16/12/2025: Fantastic location with an easy walk into the town. Plenty of parking. The spacious twin room had an ensuite. Shared kitchen, that was very clean. Would definitely book again.

03/09/2024: Went for a family reunion with my cousins from Donegal. Had a great night with good food and great company. The staff were very helpful and couldn't have done more for us. The choice on the menu was great and there were some very good Sri Lankan Curries. The dessert menu had good choices too. We had a few drinks after the dinner and weren't rushed. Great night all round.

12/01/2026: We asked for a bacon pizza and were not aware that whatever the heck they use isn't actual bacon. It's a disgusting rancid taste fake that completely ruined our dinner. I rang the shop and the man wouldn't answer me what product was that and what it was made of. Upon asking if that was some sort of halal replacement why not let the customer know and decide. I told them I'm allergic to a lot of things so I would like to know what I had just taken a bite of as I can easily get sick and still was refused an answer other than look on the website to which I had to explain to the man it says bacon as in pork it doesn't say what kind of nasty thing was it that they added to our pizza. So he said he was going to ask headquarters for an answer and call me tomorrow the 13th of January. I will for sure be following up with this as I feel deceived and they could not provide an answer to what the ingredient was and where it came from and as far as I'm concerned this is a HACCP breach. If I do feel ill I'll be seeking legal advice. If anyone has had the same experience do email the apache service for complaints and make sure you have a paper trail of this.

10/07/2025: We stopped at this lovely spot on our little road trip around the Atlantic way, it was a brilliant find. It looked so interesting from outside. The purple building with the craft stall, and sign with frieda kahla. We had two dogs with us and we were allowed to sit outside with them. We were welcomed by the lovely owner, who promptly told us there were fresh scones out of the oven and she had made apple and plum cake fresh that day. We were surprised the menu was vegetarian, but it was not a problem. The food was absolutely delicious!! I got the cheese and onion panini and it had mustard and relish and was so delicious. The cake was phenomenal! I also had a mocha. And it was the best I’d had this whole week! The stall out the front sells the owners crafts, there is lovely adult and children’s clothes. I got a dress for my niece and an apron for myself. I can’t wait to go back on our yearly visit to Downings!
