The best restaurants in Dublin

19/11/2025: I had a great experience at Jay Kays Café. The food was excellent—everything I tried was delicious, from the French toast and avocado toast to the eggs Benedict with pulled beef sandwich. The hot chocolate was also wonderful and comforting. The only thing that didn’t quite suit my taste was the Irish coffee, which was a bit too strong for me, but that comes down to personal preference more than anything else. The café has a lovely ambience as well, making it a pleasant spot to relax and enjoy a meal. Overall, I really enjoyed my visit and would happily return to try more from their menu.

01/03/2026: Terrible customer service! We came in yesterday waited 20 minutes for a server to take our order at the table. When I went up to ask for a menu, the girl said that the bigger menu was for upstairs only, due to peak times which was understandable. She rang upstairs and asked if there was a table for two, to which she said to me that it would be five minutes. We were kept waiting. Twenty more minutes passed and another server, this time with black hair and a beard came to take our order. We asked could we go upstairs. He said "But here is better!" I replied that we wanted to avail from the bigger menu. He shrugged his shoulders and said okay. When I asked him how long it would be until we could go upstairs, he said, "I don't know. Maybe twenty or thirty minutes." We decided that we had enough, so we left to go to a better place with better service. We were not going to wait more than an hour to get food nevermind noone coming to take our drinks order either. I know that it was busy but staff should not have promised us a table then completely ignore and forget about us. I work in the hospitality trade so I know how it goes but this experience was completely unacceptable for a so-called award-winning restaurant. I have had a good experience in the past but I cannot ever come back to this place again if this is what you call customer service irrespective of peak times.

22/12/2025: We are big fans of Garys in Dalkey - so happy to report the same delicious pizzas, super staff (as always Gary Balage Sonny ) and a fun night all round. Yummy GF pizza as well the same as Dalkey which is why we go there best GF pizza there is ! Ruth Dave and of course Joe

12/12/2025: This could be a lovely local spot however unfortunately its atmosphere seems to be ruined by the staff. Our first visit, we were treated rudely by the manager throughout the night which we tried to dismiss. More recently, not only were we berated again, she was also vocally treating her workers awfully in front of the whole restraunt. Both were disturbing experiences - do not recommend

02/02/2026: Classy pub, with the traditional storefront, hardware and perfume bottles that used to be for sale. "Just going to the hardware store to buy a couple of nails and an Eau de Cologne", that old tradition. Heineken 0.0 on tap, that's pretty rare, and cool.

23/12/2025: Mayne's is a perfect local pub, and I loved going there during the six months that I lived in Donnybrook. It was a shame that they had to close the kitchen at the end of the summer, but it was necessary given that it was losing money. Most importantly, I was relieved that the pub has stayed open and continues to be an anchor of the neighborhood, with great pints and a very low-key atmosphere, as well as comfortable seating. The staff -- Alan, Fiona, Rodrigo, and Maria -- are friendly and extremely good at their jobs. They always made me feel welcome, and I'll miss going in for my usual.

24/09/2025: Two Mugs have lovely coffee and plenty of snacks and treats to go with it. Great buzzing atmosphere around the place and the staff are very friendly and good craic.

23/02/2026: Reviewing based on both visits to this venue. The first one (in 2024) was fab with a true speakeasy vibe and some lovely cocktails. However, I was turned away this evening from my booking which I had rearranged for an earlier time (40mins early) due to a change in our dinner reservation. This was agreed with the venue but we were turned away when we arrived (after organising our trip back to suit the last minute changes). It was a shame we didn't get to drink here again and felt let down by the comms not landing for us to be seated and had no choice but to cancel rather than wait. We would perhaps go back next time we visit Dublin due to the venue.

20/02/2026: I would love to come and review this place incredibly highly but unfortunately I cannot. The initial experience and communication before booking was extremely helpful and left me very excited and hopeful, however the real life experience was more than disappointing. Walking in was so much fun and I was ready for a fun encounter. The minute we sat down our waitress was instantly rude and cold. Giving dirty looks to us, those looks could not be misconstrued. I gave the benefit of the doubt however the rest of my table continued to notice considerable rudeness. My boyfriend was almost cross examined about his drink choice by the same server. Furthermore when we asked for water another from our table was met with a finger in the face and general attitude. This trip was specifically for a surprise for our boyfriend’s joint birthday and there was pre warning to this, there was no recognition to this, or even a simple happy birthday. We spoke to another member of staff about our experience and she was beyond kind, beyond attentive. I just wish she was our waitress for the whole experience. I would like to preface this by saying I appreciate you cannot be on your A game all the time, but it does take more energy to be that UNKIND to people than it does to make general pleasantries.

17/03/2026: This is certainly one of the best pubs in Dublin. The team are brilliant and they serve a perfect Carlsberg 👌 and an even better Guinness🍀 Spotlessly clean traditional pub deffo worth the hype 💕🍀

04/03/2026: Great spot for a pint. Staff are always welcome and friendly. However always expect a crowd and to maybe stand. But will be worth it.

05/11/2025: I visited Chequer Lane by Jamie Oliver in Dublin for dinner, and the food was superb and amongst the best that I had during my time in the city. While there wasn't a dedicated gluten-free menu provided, my server talked me through the options and all the staff members had great knowledge of what I could and couldn't eat, I opted for the steak, which was served with a fresh garlic butter, the steak was delicious, had so much flavour and was cooked perfectly, and didn't even need any extra sauce, the fries again were so good, they were fresh, tasty and all the flavours had delivered. My only disappointment was in my cocktail - it was overloaded with ice and was almost like a slush. The other members of my party were also pleased with their food. The vibes inside the restaurant were really nice too - it felt premium yet with a modern twist so it didn't feel pretentious and you wouldn't feel out of place coming in after spending the day sightseeing around Dublin, it was that perfect combination. I'd return to Dublin alone for that steak!

15/03/2026: Hi myself Sherin, I would like to share a wonderful experience with everyone which I have experienced in Ruchi. Last Monday on 09th march around 9 pm, after my duty, I ordered food from Ruchi through Deliveroo app. And around 10pm, I received a call from Deliveroo person and said that he is waiting outside my apartment, when I went down I couldn’t find anyone, so I called him and asked where he is? He said he is just outside the apartment and later on I understood that he is waiting in some other place. So he decided to go back without delivering food to me. And he just send me photo showing he left the food on the floor, where he was a while ago. I ordered around 60€ food and it just got wasted, I tried to call him, but nobody was answering. I was really upset and contacted the Ruchi restaurant and informed them what had happened. But they very politely said that they can’t do anything right now, because the food has been delivered from their restaurant and they are really helpless. I really got mad, because I was after my duty, I didn’t cook anything, very tired, my kids also hungry, my husband is also not back from duty. So I that situation I got very angry to one who answered my call and I cut it. Later on after 5 minutes I got a call from Ruchi and he told me that, he is the owner of the restaurant, unfortunately I don’t know his name, he is going to prepare a new set of food of which I have ordered earlier even though the kitchen is closed. I refused but he convinced me and said that, relax I know u are tired, ur kids also hungry, please give him sometime he will bring food to my home. Around 20 minutes later he rang me and said, he is just outside my apartment. When I went down he just handed over the food, and very politely refused to take money from me. On that moment I felt like someone my close family member is taking care of me when I am hungry. I’m thankful to the entire Ruchi team. Thank you so much for the care and warmth you sharing.

10/03/2026: Had a lovely meal in Ruchii, had some amazing food and lovely owner who explained all of the Thali dishes to us both can’t recommend that Non-Veg Thali more.

10/08/2025: An unpretentious vegan Lebanese restaurant with a casual, fast-food-style atmosphere, but excellent food. I'm a huge fan of baba ganoush, and I have to say the one I've ever had in a restaurant is the best, and that alone is worth five stars. The other dishes I ordered were also excellent, and the staff was young and friendly. They don't serve alcohol.

07/08/2025: Great vegan options. The falafel sandwiches are amazing and taste superb, some of the best I've had,unfortunately the bread wasn't quite as good. Would still wholeheartedly recommend this place for any vegan.

07/03/2026: We came upon this little restaurant by accident. We were looking for a tuna and Irish cheddar toasted. None of the pubs or restaurants had them. But this one did! And it was amazing. We each had one with one order of fries. We had one Guinness, one coffee, and the BEST chocolate cake ever warmed with whipped cream. And it was under 50 euros! Amazing the best.
