03/01/2025: I have been visiting Galway for a few years now and I’d been meaning to go to this place for sometime. Never got the chance till recently. My lord, I am kicking myself for missing out till now! Marvelous food, excellent friendly servers and a cool, calming atmosphere that makes you feel welcome. Place is small and can get filled up quick. So ideal to arrive early on any day of the week to ensure decent seating. Food was served fresh and well prepared. I got the deluxe meal Fried chicken served with poached eggs, hollandaise sauce, crispy potatoes and the most glorious pancakes filled with jalapeños. The dish was perfectly well made. Good presentation too Hope to try one more round before I depart. Thanks very much to the staff and cooks here. They deserve all the praise. Prices do reflect the product. Working in the Industry, I get that things unfortunately have increased in price. Here I don’t feel it’s excessive. They serve good quality food and the price is more than fair. Thanks again!

02/01/2025: Visited here for the first time the other day and had the buttermilk chicken bene and it was delicious. Really nice flavours and well balanced. Also had a mocha which was also very nice. The staff were very friendly, and service was good. I look forward to returning.

03/01/2025: After a horrible experience with Deliveroo, where the driver drove off with my lovely handsome burgers for himself, the manager at Handsome Burger was nothing but kind and generous to me when I went into them to investigate it. Anytime I go into Handsome Burger Galway (which is a lot) the staff are friendly and the food is always delicious. It is my favourite restaurant in Galway and all staff especially Ruth and Niamh are a credit to the team. Thank you for the lovely service and I will continue to support in 2025.

12/01/2025: Food & service was excellent. The one issue we had was how cold we were while in there. It was one of the coldest days in Galway but I feel the restaurant should have been heated a bit better.

28/12/2024: We loved everything about it. The food, the ambience, the welcoming staff (very international, e.g, Romanian, Spanish, French). One of us didn‘t like fish but got a very good replacement in those courses containing seafood. Pro tip: order the juice accompaniment in advance if you want no alcohol!

25/12/2024: I can’t even look at the name of the restaurant without feeling ill. My fiancé and I dined here on the night of our engagement to celebrate, only to end up hospitalized hours later with a severe bout of food poisoning, lasting over 72 hours. We emailed the restaurant immediately and 6 days and 3 emails later, still no response from anyone on their behalf. Severe food poisoning from a Michelin star restaurant and no response to an email titled “Food Poisioning” is absolutely unacceptable. Such a shame as it completely spoiled what was an otherwise very special night for us, and pleasant experience at the restaurant - the service and staff were lovely. Unfortunately the fact that we got severely ill from the food and the restaurants lack of concern over our, or other diner’s, wellbeing is a tremendous red flag. Stay away.

01/01/2025: Disappointed with the service, to be honest. We had a reservation for two and were really looking forward to our first visit, but the experience fell short. We ordered the same main dish and a side, but from the start, we felt rushed and overlooked. As soon as I took the last bite of my main, the waitress immediately cleared my plate which felt abrupt as my friend was still eating. Once she finished, we requested to see the dessert menu, but no one followed up. We waited and waited and saw other customers being dealt with etc. We eventually asked a different waitress for the bill. We were told the original waitress would handle it. After waiting some more we stood up, wore our coats and sat back down again yet they never came over. Instead, we watched both staff members chatting behind the counter, completely disregarding us. After waiting another 10 minutes, we gave up and went to the counter to pay. Still, there was no acknowledgment of the dessert menu we had asked for or any effort to show interest in our experience. It felt like we didn’t belong there, and the lack of care was disappointing, given how excited we were to visit. Sadly, we won’t be returning which is a shame as the food itself was lovely!

16/12/2024: Authentic Irish restaurant here in Galway for over 400 years. I had the shepherds pie! Excellent, great taste, and texture.

15/12/2024: The perfect bar for a night out at Galway! A big pub with live music and space for dancing, but still a pub. I LOVE this place :)

09/12/2024: Young lad behind the bar overcharging for drinks on Saturday night. I was deliberately not shown the amount charged to my card at the time. Can now see a couple of incorrect transactions, including €12.85 charge when I bought one Guinness.

17/01/2025: Lovely little pub/restaurant. Food was very good and tasty. I chose from the menu of the day the beef and guinnes stew. It was the first time trying the guinnes stew and the colour of it surprised me a bit but it was very nice. Next time I’ll try the burger or breakfast(they serve it all day) Also the service was good,stuff is nice 👌

30/12/2024: City was busy today so after a short wait we got seated. Nice menu, we chose the BLT ciabatta & Cajun chicken toastie & added a cup of soup to each, had 2 coffees too. The food was very tasty but pricey for what we got. The cups of soups were very small for €5 add on, they were small enamel cups only 3/4 full. The sandwiches came to €18 each including soups so we paid in total €43 which was the same for our dinner the night before! Still a nice place in the heart of shop street.
