The menu is a bit confusing at first: it states that changes are not possible, but the friendly waiter then told us that almost everything can be prepared vegan. The breakfast burrito and sandwiches are highly recommended. Arrive early or be prepared to wait!

03/01/2026: Very very large breakfast An option for a mini breakfast would be welcome. Staff helpful, friendly and informative on the food. Queue on arrival, seated within 5 mins. Quick service and nobody hovering waiting on you to leave. Highly recommended.

29/12/2025: 56 Central is one of my favourite spots in Galway. I always bring my friends and family here when we're out and stuck for somewhere to eat. It's great for breakfast or lunch, loads of great options. On this particular day I went for the pancakes, they were lovely. The pancakes were fluffy, and with the berries and mascarpone it was a perfect combination that wasn't too sweet. My dad went for the breakfast brioche, he's not very descriptive, but he said it was good, which is high praise coming from him. The interior is clean and comfortable, the staff are friendly and attentive, the food is always delicious. Couldn't recommend this place enough!

04/01/2026: Called in for a few pints on a Sunday afternoon during our trip to Galway, the bar was busy but service was quick and the staff were very friendly. Really good pint of stout and great atmosphere.

07/12/2025: Brought my auntie Noreen out for a bite to eat last week and we came across this place. The soup was lovely . Nice creamy texture with a lovely dark ruby red colour shimmering through the transparent bowl it was served in. It was that good my auntie Noreen ordered two more. I haven’t seen her consume as much soup in years. There was also a terrific ceilí band playing in the corner throughout our lunch. Not to be noticed by Noreen however as she’s stone deaf but she was already overwhelmed with delight from the taste of the creamy soup. I would highly recommend you give this cracker of a pub a visit.

09/09/2025: Authentic pub with fantastic food! Service was rather mediocre.

09/09/2025: The Skeff is part of the The Skeffington Arms Hotel. Food was very good. The Seafood Chowder and a couple of (non!) Stout beers from other parts of Ireland were a welcomed change of pace. IPA's, actually. One from Letterkenny, and the other from Kill, County Kildare. Other than the service being just a tad slow, it was (overall) very good. And the live music was magical this night. Okay...Not exactly magical, but covers from bands/artists that everyone knows, sung by a group of a youngish band of 3 called The Groev. They did a great job, actually.

22/12/2025: There was no room inside, so we ate outside. The service was excellent. The medium-sized oysters were quite good, but the fish and chips were even better—good fish, perfectly fried, and served with hand-cut chips. We liked the place. A good experience.

16/12/2025: Excellent food & service. Black sole was fantastic. The only issue we had and not the fault of the restaurant but another customer picking her teeth with the dessert menu… obviously we didn’t take a dessert menu.

30/12/2025: Everything is delicious, original dishes, a spectacular coffee offering and very professional service.

01/11/2025: Enjoyed a wonderful lunch today in the company of other travelers in this exciting city of Galway. It was a nice surprise to stumble upon a restaurant that catered to my dietary needs. The menu wasn't overwhelming and there was a nice variety of choices to choose from. I ordered the Terryland Reuben with a vegan cheese which was VERY good and afterwards enjoyed a complimentary slice of vegan cake that was absolutely lovely. The portions were perfect! I actually left with the cake in a take out container. If you're looking for a quaint and affordable restaurant to enjoy a vegan meal, this is the place!

07/12/2025: We had dinner here last week. The starter .spinach and crab dip was awesome. Mains were fish and chips . Staff were nice, food was good.

20/12/2025: 12-14% of businesses are involved in tourism in Galway. 10-12% of the employment in the city is accounted by tourism. Me and my two other friends (who are brown) were born and raised in the USA. We came to Ireland as tourists. We were ignored at this establishment for 20+ minutes while others were served around us. We are here purely on a tourism visit. I understand the atmosphere around south indian immigrants, but generally if I understand the statistics correctly, as we become a more globalist world, this kind of behavior is not acceptable/sustainable for the country. If I was a tourist this is a must avoid spot. Go down the street if you can imo!

07/02/2025: Pedí el "Pastel de los Pastores" y estaba extremadamente decepcionado. Demasiado ajo en polvo y dudoso "puré de patatas". Muy seco a pesar de añadir una jarra de "jus". Me fui 1/2. Si un restaurante tiene una cocina abierta, entonces los chefs al menos deben actuar profesionalmente. Fui testigo de tantas infracciones HACCP que fue aterrador. Picando comida y comiendo sin lavarse las manos. Rascarse el cabello sin lavarse las manos.

06/12/2025: The food was absolutely amazing and the service was just as impressive. The girl who served us was incredibly kind, attentive, and professional; both my husband and I commented on how lovely she was. However, we couldn’t help but notice the way some managerial staff were speaking to and treating the servers. As someone who works in the restaurant industry myself, I found it very disappointing. I would never tolerate that kind of behavior toward my team, and it was disheartening to see such hardworking staff not being treated with the respect they deserve. I truly hope management takes this feedback seriously, because the food and service are fantastic and the staff deserves to be supported, not spoken down to.
