05/12/2024: My friend brought me here, and let me tell you, the food I ate that night is unmatched.. something you can’t find anywhere else. It was such a unique experience ngl. If I could rate it out of 10, I’d give it a 100. Hats off to all the chefs!🫡

04/12/2024: I went here for a friend’s celebration. There was a group of us and we were quite squished at the table, but I understood they also had two other large parties in the restaurant so space was a bit limited. I ordered the flank steak but I was told it was actually rump. I didn’t hear what the waitress said from the noise but I assumed it was fine so I just nodded and accepted. My mistake. Rump is not really a steak cut and it certainly is not worth 34 quid. It also took about an hour for our food to come out even though other guests seemed to get theirs on time? When it did arrive it was supposed to come with crispy onions and mine had like two or three on top. It was very grey and then very red all of a sudden in the centre like it was cooked very unevenly. I usually eat medium rare but it was strange. It was incredibly tough, I was chewing for ages and it was horrible. There was also an onion puree that wasn’t mentioned on the menu which I would have asked not to be included as I have sensory issues with food. The drinks were nice, dessert was okay. The two servers we had were actually lovely but at the very end another server who hadn’t waited on our table that night gave us the bill. That was fine, she gave us a few minutes and we split it between us and paid our amounts. She said she’d check it at the till and we said no problem. She then returned and said there was an extra two euro paid and we said ah sure grand but then she said she didn’t realise we hadn’t paid the service charge and if she had know before hand she would have mentioned it. We asked if it was mandatory and she said no but it was a standard everywhere. We looked at her funny, knowing it is not standard. She then proceeded to ask if we were from here, which I found rude because two members of the group were not white. We told her yes we were locals and she said that it was standard for groups of 6. She continued to repeat this and say that it’s standard because it’s a lot of work to wait on a large group. I’m sorry but we only ordered mains and two desserts and some drinks. We would have been gone sooner but the food took an hour to come. We weren’t a demanding table, we only ordered drinks when a server came up and asked. I don’t understand how the server at the end can not serve us all night, take the bill and then demand we tip 10% Tipping culture is not a thing in Ireland. I won’t be returning to a restaurant that tries to enforce tipping. If I had it and the service was amazing, sure why wouldn’t I? But service wasn’t amazing and the very snarky tone at the end soured the mood which made me not want to even tip the extra two euro that was paid by us.

18/12/2024: Nice place to dine. Food was nice and can’t complain much. Service was excellent as was the atmosphere. Food could be ever so slightly better. It’s tastes fine but needs better plating/execution at the price point. The form of the fish (cut/plating) garnish etc just needs some more creativity. Nothing wrong with the ingredients but plating is similar to what you would get at a very average restaurant. 4/5 for food just for lack of creativity at price point

06/12/2024: The 1 Michelin star for the 160€ 24 course meal was well deserved. Every dish had attention to detail, a blast of unique flavors and lovely presentation. My favorites were the lamb, sherbet, and apple crumb. My least favorite was the pigeon which had tough skin to cut/chew. The staff was very attentative during our experience. It was cool to be able to see into the kitchen where the chefs prepared the dishes before serving. I was not expecting 2 poems during the course. I loved the envelopes we got at the end of the meal of the menu which was a recyclable/plantable paper.

04/12/2024: I had moules mariniere at this restaurant on Thursday 28 November. Although I got an enormous portion of (main course) mussels - served with lots of onions, garlic and cream, and, I admit, the dish tasted good at the time (although the “crusty bread” was 2 sad slices of supermarket white toast) - and I did say this to the (friendly) waiter at the time… But, the after effect the following day was not as pleasurable. Food poisoning from mussels is brutal and I emailed the restaurant to inform them of this unpleasant experience, thinking that I’d get a response out of courtesy. I got the impression that I was served with so many mussels because they needed to be eaten that particular day. I may be wrong. As it transpired, I have got no response from the restaurant whatsoever, which is why I’m posting this review here now. My advice is triple-check the mussels before eating them.

09/12/2024: We had a very underwhelming experience here with the food. The place has amazing reviews and we wanted to try their fish and chips. We were a bit disappointed, the fish felt bland and the chips were just ok. We also ordered prawn Tempura and it was so salty and oily, the ingredients in the batter looked tempting, but I couldn't taste any flavour what so ever. I always clean up my food no matter how it is, but unfortunately I couldn't finish it. The service was decent and the restaurant had a good vibe I'd say, the food let me down.

30/11/2024: This was unfortunately the most disappointing meal we had in Ireland. I’m not sure how they have 4.7/5 with over 2K reviews… maybe the chef recently changed or all the staff were having a bad night? The “fish cake” with wild mushrooms and scallop had a quarter of a scallop in it and barely any mushrooms. It was just potato and very poorly seasoned and it was 10 euros for just one. The main was horrendous… they decided to cook smoked salmon, overcook the spaghetti and the prawns didn’t taste fresh either. Worst of all, the tomato sauce tasted like curry? Anyways, I could go on and on about the terrible service and food but the takeaway here is to just skip this restaurant so you don’t have to experience what my friends and I had to endure. Worst service and dining experience period.

16/12/2024: Authentic Irish restaurant here in Galway for over 400 years. I had the shepherds pie! Excellent, great taste, and texture.

15/12/2024: Went here as we were craving for seafood and we were not disappointed. I ordered the set meal of chowder and irish stew - both are rich in flavor and texture. We will definitely comeback here when we visit Galway again.

30/11/2024: Was having a fab time food was lovely and staff was so nice but half way through our meal the music was turned off and the match was put on so loudly ! I asked our server could it please be turned down she apologised and explained that the men wouldn’t turn it down. Ruined the entire experience and other tables were not happy but we were ignored. I don’t mind the match being on but how loud it was put on the speakers was ridiculous. It would have been a 5 star review as the girls minding our table were amazing they agreed with us the speakers were too loud but they were ignored male staff members

06/12/2024: This was our top meal during our 9-day stay across Ireland. It has a multitude of awards and we now know why! The daily menu is written on the wall. We landed on the beef satay and the falafel dish. Both dishes were bursting with flavor, so much texture and tastes that are so different but blend well together. The portions were generous and we left super happy and wished we had another chance for try the other dishes!
