14/11/2025: I booked last minute for a table for my family (two adults and two young children). On arrival the staff were so lovely and welcomed both us and the kids! They had a high chair ready should we need one. The atmosphere was so friendly and joyful. We never felt under pressure to curtail the kids, but they were surprisingly quiet and well behaved. The staff were all amazing. And the food was next level amazing! Even my two year old daughter who eats very little sat with her eyes closed chewing some pork saying it was “melicious”. Overall it was an amazing, calm and enjoyable family meal and we will most definitely return ❤️ thank you ❤️❤️❤️

12/11/2025: Second time here, both upstairs and downstairs are very recommended. Different flavour combinations then you see in most other places in galway and or ireland. Very much Recommended

03/12/2025: Amazing place, lovely staff and delicious food. Their cappuccino was super creamy and delicious, and cake I had next to it was very unique in taste and well combined with sauces. Full breakfast was superb too. Definitely would recommend.

02/12/2025: 10/10 I always enjoy my time here for either brunch or dinner. The food is absolutely delicious! Our waiter was outstanding, providing attentive and wonderful service. Plus, the wine was delightful! 🍷🥂

18/11/2025: Tucked away like a treasure and indeed it is one. The staff were lovely, welcoming and highly professional. We arrived a half hour before our reservation and were quickly accommodated. One of us is not a wine enthusiast but described their taste and loved the recommended glass. We started with a dozen oysters and agreed Kirwans’ could do well with a menu item ‘Cover the table with oysters’. We had the Seared Scallops with crispy pork belly and the 10 oz aged ribeye. The steak was so good, today I’m lighting a candle for the cow. Our gracious host said the cleaned plates were a compliment, to which we responded that we had to restrain ourselves to stop at the porcelain. It was truly lovely

05/11/2025: I still think about this meal. It was the first meal of our trip and we just happened to walk by and they had a table ready for us pretty quick! I still dream about these mussels. A fantastic seafood dinner to lead into a night heading to different pubs. A breath of fresh air and fine dining before a night of pints all over town. But for real, order the mussels. I'm going back to Galway JUST to eat here. Great wine list too and fantastic service staff.

16/11/2025: What I most appreciate about this place is the consistency. The quality of food and service is one of the best you can get in Galway. Never once we have been disappointed in food or the atmosphere. To the point that we actually do not bother with any other places whenever we visit Galway. I especially recommend the chicken Cajun salad 👍

09/09/2025: The Skeff is part of the The Skeffington Arms Hotel. Food was very good. The Seafood Chowder and a couple of (non!) Stout beers from other parts of Ireland were a welcomed change of pace. IPA's, actually. One from Letterkenny, and the other from Kill, County Kildare. Other than the service being just a tad slow, it was (overall) very good. And the live music was magical this night. Okay...Not exactly magical, but covers from bands/artists that everyone knows, sung by a group of a youngish band of 3 called The Groev. They did a great job, actually.

01/12/2025: I went to the 30÷ disco yesterday. It was very techno and most of us oldies there would have preferred dance singalong music, leave the techno every other song. Most of the crowd were 50+ . DJ read your audience..

07/12/2025: Brought my auntie Noreen out for a bite to eat last week and we came across this place. The soup was lovely . Nice creamy texture with a lovely dark ruby red colour shimmering through the transparent bowl it was served in. It was that good my auntie Noreen ordered two more. I haven’t seen her consume as much soup in years. There was also a terrific ceilí band playing in the corner throughout our lunch. Not to be noticed by Noreen however as she’s stone deaf but she was already overwhelmed with delight from the taste of the creamy soup. I would highly recommend you give this cracker of a pub a visit.

12/11/2025: 24 course tasting with 6 drinking tasting as well. Very fun experience!

01/11/2025: One of the worst dinning experiences of my life. If you dont enjoy seaweed, raw fishy flavor and fish flavored jellies you wont like this place. Out of 24 courses only 5 i would call enjoyable. As others had mentioned some dishes were insanly salty to the point if it being unpleasant. For example the desert was more salty then sweet? If your food is terrible why do i care about the real sea shells you made your table out of? You take a bite and its terrible, you cant send it back because one bite is half of it, you hope for a better next course, its terrible again rinse and repeat. Staff was unreceptive to criticism and promptly walked away instead of adressing it. Save your money and get a spice box.

07/12/2025: We had dinner here last week. The starter .spinach and crab dip was awesome. Mains were fish and chips . Staff were nice, food was good.

24/11/2025: Visiting Ireland for the first time, and our tour guide recommended this pub to get some food and drinks. This place is older than the US Constitution! I had a delicious Irish Angus burger, with a homemade red ale called The King's Head Blood Red which had the slogan "This will keep its head, unlike a certain king!" The chips (fries) were not really seasoned, but the waitress gave salt, pepper, and ketchup beforehand. We were helped by Molly, who I thought was strikingly pretty (has nothing to do with the review, but fun to mention). In fact all the staff were easy on the eyes! If you want a drink, there is a proper bar area, but if you want to eat there is a bistro you will need to find the door to in the bar area.

07/02/2025: Pedí el "Pastel de los Pastores" y estaba extremadamente decepcionado. Demasiado ajo en polvo y dudoso "puré de patatas". Muy seco a pesar de añadir una jarra de "jus". Me fui 1/2. Si un restaurante tiene una cocina abierta, entonces los chefs al menos deben actuar profesionalmente. Fui testigo de tantas infracciones HACCP que fue aterrador. Picando comida y comiendo sin lavarse las manos. Rascarse el cabello sin lavarse las manos.

12/11/2025: Lovely pub, great atmosphere & great service Food was so nice. We got lots of different finger food and it was all beautiful. The pub itself is in a great location, beautiful decor, really clean. Overall it was a lovely evening

06/12/2025: The food was absolutely amazing and the service was just as impressive. The girl who served us was incredibly kind, attentive, and professional; both my husband and I commented on how lovely she was. However, we couldn’t help but notice the way some managerial staff were speaking to and treating the servers. As someone who works in the restaurant industry myself, I found it very disappointing. I would never tolerate that kind of behavior toward my team, and it was disheartening to see such hardworking staff not being treated with the respect they deserve. I truly hope management takes this feedback seriously, because the food and service are fantastic and the staff deserves to be supported, not spoken down to.
