23/08/2025: Brilliant pub, Mick is warm and welcoming. A must visit if in Castlebar.

01/08/2025: Grand endroit, pas loin du centre ville. Des assiettes copieuses et bonnes, moins chers que d'autres. Le breakfast est très bon, avec option vegan. Venir avant 12h. Il y avait de place, pas besoin de réserver. Service sympathique

08/10/2025: What a lovely surprise once you walked through the door! A bar/bistro in its original form. Even though the bartender and waitress were only two in a room that was filling up quickly, they were friendly and cheerful. The service was fast (great for an evening), the presentation was beautiful, and the food was excellent! The portions were generous and reasonably priced. The only downside was the tiramisu: it wasn't soaked enough, there wasn't enough coffee, and the cream was very heavy. Otherwise, everything was perfect!

24/09/2025: Food was good. Fajitas with beef were great, cajun chicken Alfredo had a nice sauce but chicken was pretty plain. Service was very slow but nice and professional. We hat a sticky toffee pudding which was nice but overpriced.

27/10/2025: 11/6/25: Great cafe and very welcoming and friendly staff too and where dogs are allowed at the rear under a sheltered roofed area; there are a few other large tables in the yard but these are not protected from the weather.

16/09/2025: Great location, right in the middle of town. Excellent staff; friendly & helpful. Our room was lovely, overlooking the main street which was very quiet overnight. We enjoyed Sunday lunch & breakfast the following morning; both of which were really good.

04/06/2025: I went to Oxtsil on Friday with my friend her daughter and my daughters. We had such a great night full of laughter and fantastic food. I can only say it's one of our absolute favourite restaurants to go to. The food is absolutely amazing, all seasonal. I don't know how they do it but each dish busts with flavour, they're is an explosion of flavour on each bite. I ate gambas prawns, for starter, pork belly with prawns for mains. We shared 3deserts between us, malt and Hazelnut cheesecake, salted Carmel with a homemade biscuit and a chocolate moose with brownie and honeycomb 😋😋😋😋😋 amazing! My friend and her daughter live in NY and we book oxtail evertime she comes home, that's testament in itself. Well done, keep up the good work. Can't wait to go back in July

03/10/2025: We stopped here on our last night in Ireland after a week of exploring the country. I’d honestly say, this is the best service we have received out of any restaurant we visited and the food was top notch. Great vibe inside and plenty of drinks and beers to choose from. Highly recommend!

08/07/2025: Nos alojábamos en el castillo y decidimos cenar allí. Es difícil conseguir reservas incluso para los residentes, por lo que conviene reservar con antelación. Yo pedí trucha del Atlántico y mi compañero pidió solomillo. Pedimos un par de acompañamientos que también nos sirvieron en los platos. Afortunado. Ambos estaban realmente sabrosos. Lamentablemente no hay mucho de cada uno en el plato por el precio.

03/07/2025: Cenamos con amigos en el Dungeon. Nos lo pasamos todos genial. El personal de servicio fue eficiente y amable. Todos nuestros platos estaban deliciosos. Los precios, aunque caros, eran más razonables que los del restaurante George V del piso de arriba.

16/09/2025: Review from last trip: we loved this palce when we came as a family. The servers were so sweet and attentive compared to a lot of places we tried. I hope they reopen!! Food was good, prices were great. Sept 14, 2024.

23/08/2025: A charming pub with a lovely musical atmosphere in the village of Killala. We enjoyed a pint of Guinness, accompanied by breaded scampi and a stew floating in carrots. The dishes are simple and not particularly exciting, but there's nothing better in the area, so we considered ourselves lucky to find a table, considering it was a late July evening.

21/08/2025: We had the dish of the day, Roast Beef. The Beef was dry and tough. The vegetables weren't fresh cooked and without any taste. The best of the meal were the chips.....

12/10/2025: Had breakfast here yesterday. Really gorgeous. Service very quick even though it was busy. 3 of us left there full and very happy. Looking forward to a return visit

18/09/2025: What a gem of a place, we’d been to the Deli the day before and bought some granola and flour, and had a take out coffee, so we were really looking forward to a late breakfast at Café Rua. First impressions were a fantastic welcome and real friendly people, nothing sham or pretend here. What a great menu, absolutely something for all tastes and dietary requirements. The chorizo, spinach and sautéed potatoes, topped with 2 perfectly poached eggs and accompanied with chilli relish was excellent. Real fresh orange juice was delightful, and the coffee? Epic! What a fabulous way to spend time being looked after in one of the best cafés I’ve visited.

26/08/2025: My husband and I popped into this cafe before our train needing a hearty meal served fast and couldn’t have wished for anything better. Our order was taken very quickly and the delicious food was served soon after. The breakfast came with coffee / tea. A much needed pick me up before a long journey. Thank you so much!

Its central location makes it the perfect meeting spot, and it’s quickly become one of the go-to venues in the area. A brilliant addition to Castlebar’s social scene; highly recommend it!
