Taste of Italy
Arklow
26/07/2026: Delicious food, great service and a lovely ambiance! I felt like i was on holidays. Would highly recommend.
22/07/2026: Hard to believe we have such a delicious Italian restaurant right here in Arklow.. but it's REAL!! The best Italian food that I would rate alongside the best food I've had in Italy.. today we had Ravioli with mozzarella & delicious tomato sauce and a caprese salad (best ever!) followed by the best blueberry lemon cake ever & a cute Italian bun I can't remember the name of! Alongside the best service.. I'm so grateful we have this gem in Arklow, with seats out by the river too 💜 Xxx
Ps- the laughing ducks provide a lil extra entertainment if you're lucky!

Highly recommended and the prices are very affordable. Parking at a distance at a low rate. Animal-friendly restaurant... amazing.
26/07/2026: Wonderful meal, great food. Lovely staff. Lasagne was amazing, I want the pesto recipe. Tomato soup was really good, proper homemade. Real ingredients.
Don’t leave food unattended or the birds will eat it.

Dockyard No. 8
Bray
09/08/2026: my experience here was incredible this is now my favourite place to get food, the staff if very kind, coffee is amazing in their and atmosphere is very good and i like where its placed not to busy, i would go here every day if i could afford
07/08/2026: A cute brunch/lunch spot on the marina just north of Bray coast.
I had the Docklands Breakfast, which was severely overpriced for the quantity of food you get. Half of the plate was taken up by 2 slides of bread. A small plastic pot of hot beans also wasn't sufficient for the full meal. (Please change to ceramic pots instead of plastic ...). I also believe the sausages are the cheap frozen sausages you can get from Iceland.
My partner had the Chefs Breakfast, which was a lot better quality than the Docklands but still pricey at 17 euros.
It's worth visiting if you've got the budget but I would personally stray away from the Breakfasts.

CHESTER BEATTY INN
Ashford
05/04/2026: Myself and my wife stayed in the chester Beatty on Easter Saturday night
On arrival we were met in reception by two very welcoming gentlemen.
Check in took about one minute or less, asked if we needed to book table for food as the car park was fairly full, we were told there would be no problem just go in when ready.
We went to our room which was absolutely spotless and warm.
Food was wonderful, fast and the staff couldn't have been nicer.
We had a couple of drinks later in the bar which were lovely aswell with bar staff were great.
After a very good sleep we had breakfast which was perfect in every way.
Definitely visit again.
Most friendly staff ever
Martin and Betty Dempsey Wexford
24/03/2026: As a local who has visited many times, I was extremely disappointed with my most recent visit.
I ordered the "smash burger" and what I received was anything but a smash burger. The two patties on the burger were at least 3/4" thick and were cooked to death (well done to the point it was like trying to eat shoe leather). Other than this the other aspects of the meal were to the usual standard we expect, wings, sides and sauces, etc were fine and enjoyable, and my partner enjoyed her food.
The staff were lovely and very friendly, but they missed several blatant warning signs they should have spotted (such as taking pictures of the food, laughing and braking it apart with hands and leaving basically an entire main untouched because it was inedible).
It was a Sunday and it was very busy and as I said the staff were great and could not fault their customer service... but as a retired hospitality professional myself, I can't imagine how a chef could have let food be prepared that badly, let alone leave the pass and be served to a customer.
Very disappointed as I hold Chesters in very high regard and we regularly recommend our own guests (we run a B&B in the local area) go to Chesters for dinner because we have never had a fault in the past.
Again it was a Sunday and it was busy but I really couldn't get over how poor the burger was.
Staff were great as mentioned above and was a good ambiance and prices are reasonable as always!

Butler & Barry
Bray
18/07/2026: It's okay... the setting is very nice.
The staff are friendly enough but girl who served my wife and I was a bit grumpy, maybe just a bad day.
Weirdest thing - my wife ordered "Irish sea trout" only to be given salmon. When we raised this with waitress she simply said "oh that's what it's called on the menu". In what world is that a normal thing to do? To call salmon, trout? And then for her to shrug her shoulders as if it's our problem. Maybe let people know their trout is actually salmon, or better yet rename it on the menu. Have asked 10 people about this and they are all as shocked as we were. Bizzare behaviour, I wonder what else they call one thing and it's actually another.
18/07/2026: Shawn was amazing! Came here from canada and he was absolutely incredible. a memorable part of our trip.

The Old Ship
Arklow
07/08/2026: The Old Ship is a gem located in Arklow. The food is consistently good as is the service and overall ambience. The staff are extremely attentive, pleasant and cannot do enough to ensure your dining experience is warm and welcoming. The food is amazing and presented with a creative flair. If you have room for dessert, the apple pie is out of this world and it comes with its own" gravy boat" of homemade custard. Hats off to the pastry chef for that creation😘
One of my favorite places to eat in the beautiful county of Wicklow.
21/07/2026: Stopped here on our drive from Dublin to Kilmore Quay. We were there around 3, and it wasn't terribly busy. Service was fantastic! They were very kind and attentive. I ordered the BLT & it was good, my friend ordered the Turkey sandwich with stuffing and it was really good. Overall, was a great place to stop for a quick lunch.

Killruddery House & Gardens
26/07/2026: Amazing place and experience. The guided tour was really interesting. I truly recommend to spend here the day.
26/07/2026: We had a wonderfull visit at Killruddery. We decided to get a house tour and that was the best decision we could have made. Ray gave such an amazing tour of the house, with history not just about the house but the whole of Ireland. He was a passionate storyteller and we enjoyed every minute of the tour. Learning about the family who is still living there was very interesting. The gardens around were also beautiful and the tea room was a nice place to wind down.
