The best restaurants in Wicklow

25/05/2026: We visited not too long ago after they change that happened from Christy's to Gough's and I must say they preserved what was great about the place. The staff was very friendly the food came out really quick and was really really good. I would definitely recommend this place for bigger events as well.

25/05/2026: I ordered roast beef and trimmings .the beef was reheated and I could not cut it, it was so tough. Mash potatoes had clumps of rock hard mash, pepper sauce was tasteless and watery..very bad food. My husband git the chick curry..very bland and about 5 small pieces of chicken. Won't be returning unfortunately

03/02/2026: Great food, quick delivery, good portions and fair pricing. Ordered many times and it never disappoints.

05/01/2026: Dirt.... absolutely disgusting.... soggy kebab.... no sauce after requesting extra sauce ... one chicken tender cut in half in kebab...rest of kebab wett/sweaty lettuce & soggy bread .... disgusting...disgusting..disgusting..& have cheek to charge €10 ....(I am not a fussy eatter..)

30/05/2026: I live locally and have only rarely used it as the food can be very ordinary. Actually stopped going there after two successive visits with really poor portions of chips. Thought that the first time was just an unfortunate mistake. Tried it again last night. First time in a while. Chips were grand, portion size still a bit scabby but not as bad. Fresh cod was poor, battered ok but fish inside was dry and tasteless. Also got onion rings. Oh my God, they have to be the worst thing I have ever eaten from a chipper. Basically a thick wedge of an onion battered, disgusting. Why mess with the easiest, highest profit food going? Break up the onion, batter them and fry, like a normal chipper! Only positive I'd say is the staff, they are friendly and the wait wasn't too bad for a Friday evening. I won't be rushing back.

17/05/2026: Staff are lovely. Didn’t get some of my food that I paid for. Onion rings very disappointing. Chicken and donor meat in kebabs was tiny couldn’t taste very much of the flavour. Very disappointing.

14/12/2025: This place has very friendly staff, and rooms are fine, good comfy beds, clean, for the most part, But its not a hotel, its a pub/nightclub with rooms. If you are here on weekend, you will not sleep before 3am. The rooms are directly above the "nightclub " and its loud, Not just a little, its very loud. But if you know what your getting, its fine. About the food, sorry but its really bad. Like bad, bad. Apart from that, staff are great, rooms basic but, decent, common areas are very 80s and rundown. If you want a cheap place to sleep, with a good place to get pissed and stay up until 3am. This is for you. If you want a luxury room and a peaceful early night on a weekend, then look elsewhere.

12/10/2025: Hotel and pub on Arklow's main street, a welcoming place to stop for tea, coffee, or a beer with friends.

22/12/2025: The coffee is always good at Costa. And I love the spiced ginger biscuits. But this last visit was unpleasant. The majority of empty tables had not been cleared which meant that I had to clear one myself in order for us to sit comfortably. The whole place just felt horribly grubby. And the toilets smelled like a urinal and there was no toilet roll.

07/12/2025: Love this place. Lots of space inside, and warm and friendly staff. Excellent range of coffees and nice sandwiches and sweet treats. The building is an interesting square design with windows all the way around the building.

24/04/2026: We ordered from here at around 6:30. Our food came at 9. Although the wait was extreme, the food was incredible.

30/03/2026: place is filthy cob webs visible wouldn't eat anything

11/04/2026: Ordered a cheese burger . My burger had no cheese on it and was over loaded with raw onion with the thinnest beef patty I’d ever seen, which wasn’t fresh , tasted out of date. I threw it out after one bite.

09/05/2026: Went to grab a quick bite on a quiet-ish morning and the owner took his sweet time before serving me. However, before he even finished serving me, the owner asked me to step to the side so he could serve the next customer - My jaws dropped!! I had to ask for the extras that would normally come with my bite. I felt I was a waste of his time and he couldn’t wait to get rid of me after he got my payment. Being a local, I’ve always brushed aside swirling rumours about the owners customers poorly and today I experienced it first hand!! As Asians they should know better.

20/10/2025: Very rude and unprofessional young sales assistant. No basic manners, no “thank you” or “please.” Left a very unpleasant impression. Manager should look into this.

20/10/2025: Was in Earls last weekend, I had a lovely sandwich and coffee made by the super staff. Big shout out to Tom who was very friendly and obliging. I’ll be back!

15/03/2026: I ordered a sausage in batter and a bag of chips ,the food was Luke warm chips and sausage soggy it was disgusting €8.50 in the bin I will never ever cross that door again. They should be ashamed of themselves.

27/05/2026: If only zero stars were possible. Epically unpalatable. Fish smells of fish yet tastes like greasy nothingness. The instant I stuck a fork in it I knew it was going to be the worst fish n’ chips I had in recent memory. Full dinners, straight to the bin….pictured

10/04/2026: Awful experience with the driver delivering. Didn't seem to want to deliver to an apartment and then I asked him not to shout at me to come to the door and he turned aggressive. Never again.

19/12/2025: Ive been a member of the gym for a while now. Its a shame that I pay for a full membership and can never use the pool as it is always taken up by kids swimming classes or mommy and baby classes. Ive gone at every different time of the day and theres ALWAYS a class in the pool. Ive asked the staff multiple times to put up the time tables in the locker rooms but they never do as theyre “constantly changing”. Theyd rather make money off the classes, than prioritise the people who pay for the gym membership. There are only four showers in the womens changing room with see through curtains and broken soap dispensers. They always forget to put on the air vents so its always super warm. Theres mould in the showers and womens locker rooms as well and theyre filthy. Theres only one changing room thats usable as the doors have literally warped because of the heat. The pool isnt cleaned regularly enough and you can feel the dirt on the floor when youre swimming. The temperature of the pool is either freezing or nice and warm. Theres no in between. The hot tub isnt regularly cleaned either and sometimes it stinks! Theres a hole in the ceiling of the pool as well that hasnt been fixed in years. The stairs up to the gym havent been touched in 15 years and looks like a construction site. There’s literally been a slice of toast sitting on the stairs for YEARS. The carpet in the hall between the stairs and changing rooms is full of mould and hasnt been changed in years and it stinks. The gym itself is alright but theres absolutely no security. Creepy men stumble in and out whenever they want and dont look like theyre supposed to be there. There have been some men that wait for other people to put the code in, to get into the gym. Not worth the price at all, the only usable thing is the gym and the studio.

24/05/2026: Got a delivery from here. It was really awful. The quality of the food is really cheap. The meat is disgusting we couldn’t eat it. Rice all congealed. Parts of the order was wrong. Don’t like leaving such a bad review but this is the worst Chinese I have had for years

21/05/2026: We threw most of the take away into the bin, the most appealing food put into a container. At €14:99 the prawn Siem Reap was neither cooked or raw. Rubber carrots and broccoli couldn't even be cut with a knife. The prawns were raw, but I cooked them and had them with a bag of microwave rice. As the rice presented was nothing but a lump of stodge. The ribs totally overcooked and dried out. As for the so called Chicken Kung Po. Jesus? A disgusting waste of money. Never never again The only plesent thing about the place was the young lady at the counter.

12/03/2026: Order placed an hour and twenty minutes. Called twice & told order is with the driver. This is the second bad experience recently with this place.

06/01/2026: We have used the restaurant a few times and everything was excellent from the interactions with all the staff to the food. Wanted Chinese tonight and couldn’t decide so orders munchie box for pick-up. The pizza box, going to be honest looked suspicious. Herself raised an eyebrow when I got home. Everything was as nicely presented as possible, it was piping hot. All the food including the chips were cooked perfectly and crispy. Definitely one of the better Chinese takeaways we have had over the years.
