The best restaurants in Donegal

11/08/2025: Visited Saturday in the hope of having lunch with a relative who is just recently out of hospital and it was his first lunch out. We didn’t have a booking, there was a woman who seemed to be in charge and she was very rude to us. She handed us a menu and told us to sit in the bar somewhere, while she was doing this she was also shouting over tables at other staff members and also at customers. At one stage I heard her telling customers to “just sit down there”. There are good and bad ways to manage situations and clearly this was not a good way. There were several tables empty in different parts and there were also several empty tables available outside, so it was not as if the place was extremely busy. I would not like to see what it would be like when it is. I have learned from experience not to give business to a place which doesn’t seem to want your business. It would worry me how the staff are treated. We went to the Millbrook hotel in Donegal town and had a delicious/peaceful/attentive meal there instead.

17/07/2025: After a previous bad experience decided to try again. They got the wine order wrong and when it eventually arrived we had to ask for glasses which btw were dirty. Soup was fine but mussels overcooked and sauce over salty. Waiting staff did not really seem to know what they were doing. Two steaks were fine but the third which was rare was tough. Unlikely to revisit

06/05/2025: We ordered their menu A option for a family event. We hadn't to do anything. They included plates, cutlery wrapped in napkins and the water for the ban Marie's. Food arrived early and piping hot. They also told us to just scarpe plates/containers and they would collect all the following day. Nikki arranged all this for us and she was so attentive and helpful prior to the event. Thanks so much.

03/08/2025: Fantastic food in Mr Chippies. Fish and chips a must. Great service from lovely staff. Hot food in a flash and oh my, the food is delicious. Prices unbelievable for what you get. Unbeatable value. 5 stars all round.

01/08/2025: I was hungry and ordered soup with weaten bread. The soup was tomato and awful it tasted like canned tomato's liquidized. Great latte and staff a lovely place shame about the soup on a first visit.

21/04/2025: It's one of the best bars around. Great atmosphere and the service is excellent. It's worth a visit. Amazing Guinness, too. All round great pub.

03/08/2025: Lovely staff, fast service, extensive menu, great food. The only downfall is their choice of desserts or sweets treats if you only would like to pop in for a coffee.

06/08/2025: Stayed here last night and it was exceptional. The service was top notch nothing was a bother, food and drinks even better. Lovely relaxing atmosphere with old style decor. The rooms are beautiful and the grounds even nicer. We cannot wait to return. Thanks Caroline for a night we will remember.

28/08/2025: 1 of out favourite treats & so easy to order. We collected the last time but also get deliveries. Food is always lovely it's great the consistency & service excellent.

20/08/2025: Small shop front, great service by young lad who helped with the menu. Bringing the pizza outside to me when it was ready. The pizza was awesome 👌. Better than Darwin City in Australia.
