The best restaurants in Donegal

04/01/2026: We had food here last Monday 29th December in the front bar/lounge across the road from the bay. Absolutely superb. Food was excellent, great value for money and service was extremely fast for our large group of 17 diners. We had not booked in advance, and our arrival of such a large group was handled efficiently, professionally and we were made to feel most welcome. A worthy alternative to The Bridge Bar, where we would normally dine over Christmas while at home in Fermanagh/Donegal visiting relatives. Well done!

06/03/2026: The most beautiful fish I have tasted! Visited Dunfanaghy from Derry with my family. We had takeaway. The staff were just so friendly and polite. The cafe itself was lovely and warm on a beautiful but cold day, and it had a lovely warm atmosphere too. A great menu if you don't like fish, my son had chicken goujons and loved them but the fish was stunning. Thanks all at An Chistin x

22/09/2025: Ordered fish. It left alot to be desired. Fish was fresh. The batter was disgusting, smelled and tasted of uncooked dough. So disappointed. Id glad drive past and go to Friars Glencar.

06/11/2025: Absolutely outstanding! Paradise Indian Restaurant in Ballybofey truly lives up to its name. The food is bursting with authentic flavours — every dish tastes freshly prepared and perfectly spiced. 🍛 The staff are warm, attentive, and always make you feel welcome. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, perfect for both a casual meal or a special night out.

24/01/2026: Zam Zams Bundoran is in the west end of the town, drive past the Allingham and its on same the side. It's super value, chips are always fresh cut, and always satisfying food. Give it a try, they deliver or if you order, they are very fast.

15/02/2026: Went in to order collection after waiting 20min they told me it was going into oven mind you on the screen it’s already been made and cooked in oven, this was an additional order made 3min after original order which we received so standing with half the order for 10-15 min to then be told it will be over the safe again before we receive our order. Poor service in my opinion, ended up getting a refund after standing for 20+ min 🥴🙃

11/02/2026: I had a really positive experience with Charcoal Grill Letterkenny. There was a system error when I came to collect my order — it showed on my phone as placed, but it hadn’t come through on their side and I hadn’t received a confirmation email. Despite the mix-up, the staff were very understanding and made the food for me without any fuss. I really appreciated how calmly and professionally they handled the situation. Great customer service — thank you!

15/03/2026: My partner and I went for a lovely post-six nations meal and were not disappointed! I had told him how good the butter chicken was (my family and I had been before) and he really enjoyed it. I also thought it was lovely albeit too sweet- some similarities to a korma in some ways, and I thought the chicken wasn't quite as moist as the last time I had this lovely dish. Sauce however was super rich and buttery as it should be. The lamb bhuna was exceptional, full of great flavour and varied texture. The lamb was also cooked very well. We also had lovely starters, the samosa being my favourite! The service really stood out as being polite, considered, and very hospitable. We also really enjoyed the overall atmosphere in the restaurant. Thank you to the team at Chandpur, we will certainly be back!

21/03/2026: My toilit had a big sloppy 1 in it when I came bed bugs in the bed and the tv was tweeking in all my years I have never seen the 1st years in the back of the bus up the front now

23/03/2026: We just had a stay at the Abbey Hotel in Donegal Town. The town is lovely, lots of food and shopping options and historic sites. A great base if you want to see Donegal. The hotel was nice, they seem to be sprucing it up at the moment, nice bar and restaurant and the breakfast was lovely. Service at the front desk a little lacking.

15/03/2026: The room was spacious & nice. There was a very bad smell from the bathroom. I noticed a previous review commented on the smell too, so obviously this was never rectified. I think asking our 16 & 17 year olds to leave the bar/restaurant at 11pm was over the top, they were guests in the hotel & with their parents. They made a big deal & was very embarrassing for us. We won't be returning.

20/03/2026: Really great takeaway. The Singapore spicy noodles were amazing and they even gave us free chicken wings with the order! Delicious

06/12/2025: We ordered food delivery for the party, and everyone loved it. It's a great option for Chinese food lovers; the portions are very generous. I highly recommend it, especially the duck dishes.
