07/12/2025: Very disappointed with Matts dinner, I have enjoyed the food here before but recently I called in and ordered the pancakes with bacon syrup. Well the bacon was perfect but the pancakes where store bought and not very nice there was one I couldn't even cut through with a knife and fork! Get your act together Matt

26/10/2025: Always love coming in here — the atmosphere is great, and Antonia behind the bar really makes it. She’s friendly, professional, and somehow remembers everyone’s order with a smile, even when it’s packed. It’s rare to find someone who consistently keeps things running so smoothly and makes every visit feel personal. She’s a real credit to the place and deserves to be recognised for it.

07/12/2025: There is parking outside but it’s a bit hit and miss if a spot is free; there is a big car park at Slevins so you could park there and walk back up. There is a step up through a manual door. On entering I was greeted by a very friendly and polite lady who took my order. I was told I’d have to wait about 15 minutes which is about the norm. There were three people waiting for orders and several people came in to collect orders and the phone didn’t stop ringing with people who had the sense to ring ahead. It was nearer 25 minutes before I was called for my order but judging by how busy they were you could understand why; I had my kindle so I was happy. They put a piece of cello tape to keep the box lid closed/ secured and wrapped and secured the bag around the boxes; nothing was going to slip or spill out whilst I was driving home. I opened the box to see a good portion of chips but also a HUGE piece of battered fish. Also Inside the bag was plastic cutlery, sachets of vinegar/ ketchup/ salt and serviettes. I really enjoyed my fish and chips, can’t fault it. Definitely worth the wait but I’ll probably call ahead next time.

05/10/2025: Sometimes, it’s the simplest of dishes that are hard to get right… Take that age old takeaway favourite, Fish & Chips, for instance… intentions are usually good but invariably gets served as some insipid tasteless piece of is-it-or-isn’t-it-cod with a mediocre batter on top of a congealed mush of soggy chips. Sound familiar?? Enter AJ’s in Ballyshannon. The chips (…and they were PROPER chips) were plentiful and that lovely combination of fluffy centred and crispy outside, and perched on top of this potato perfection was a slab of the finest flakiest fishiest feed, swaddled lovingly in a blanket of the tastiest crispiest batter this side of Batterstown! I can’t begin to describe the joy that deep fried fish can bring, all that it was missing was being wrapped in a sheet of yesterday’s news. AJ’s are definitely doing fish the way fish should be done, light and lovely… I’m not codding! Treat yourself to a day off cooking with a takeaway the way takeaways are meant to be taken away. 15/10 for crispy coddiness!!

20/05/2025: It’s a beautiful place! You feel like a princess in that castle. The rooms are very spacious and lovely, and the bathroom floor is warm, so it’s super comfortable to walk around barefoot. The service from all the staff is excellent. And the massage we got at the spa was extraordinary!

20/05/2025: This was one of the best hotels on our tour, and we had great ones. The rooms were cozy and elegant. We were treated like royalty and self service laundry facilities were available. I wish we could have stayed a second night.

21/01/2026: Had a fantastic lunch....10 of us were in we preordered thru Caroline, nothing was an issue for her, thoroughly enjoyed and will be back

17/09/2025: A great place for fresh seafood with a few gluten-free options. Jealous of my sister’s fish taco but the crab and avocado sandwich on gluten free bread was great. The unexpected find of a bit of cling film in my sandwich was quickly rectified by their gracious staff. Accidents happen. Highly recommend.

06/04/2026: We went recently and the staff was ok but when we got are food it was a bit cold the chips were really salty and the chicken was a bit stale . I went to the toilet afterwards and the toilet was blocked and the atmosphere was like a graveyard. Would Not Recommend.

03/02/2026: Staff was friendly, food didn't take long however the chicken was really salty and tasted almost stale, I've been here before a number of times and the chicken is always really bad compared to food from the kfc in sligo or anywhere else really. This state of affairs is absolutely disgraceful and distasteful!! Giving a bad name to a generally incredible restaurant!! Shame! I will not be going back again.

05/04/2026: Food was very nice, but i ordered curry sauce as a side and have to say I was shocked and annoyed at what i got. A container of what looked like cooking oil with curry sauce fired into it! The oil and curry separate into a congealed mess. Def put me off getting a curry there again.

23/03/2026: Best Thai Food I have had since I left Australia!!!!! Was absolutely divine. Thank you so much for your lovely service. The banter was great, and I think I could have ordered any single thing off your menu and I would have enjoyed it. Highly Recommend!!!

04/10/2025: Great atmosphere, service and food. Our favourite restaurant since being in Ireland! We sat on the bar side and the menu was excellent. The fires were warm and the service even warmer, especially on the cozy couches, on a stormy evening. Cocktails were also superb. Wish we were staying near for our whole trip so we could have another meal at the Red Door!
