The best restaurants in Donegal

15/05/2026: Restaurant review only. I had 3 nights in Carndonagh and had dinner every night at The Butterbean. All 3 nights I had a special and all 3 were fantastic. Salmon over stir-fry noodles was my favorite - perfectly cooked with a perfect sauce. Pasta with a tomato-cream sauce with chorizo was also excellent. Finally monkfish with a butter-leek sauce over asparagus and other vegetables was expertly cooked and very refined - delightful. I can't recommend this place enough - it was the best food of my entire trip.

13/03/2026: Visited only restaurant, delicious food and big portions, goujon chicken with garlic potatoes. Wasn’t busy so food arrived quickly

12/06/2026: We enjoyed two nights at this wonderful hotel. The staff is friendly and capable, the food is very good and the room comfortable.

25/08/2026: This is the worst restaurant in whole world. First of all its not any Indian restaurant like they show in the name on board. On entrance they put all the awards to show how good they are which they are not at all. The food is so yuck and tasteless. There is no hint of spice added. The quantity of the serving feels like a joke. Quality is so low that we have to leave half of the food on the table. If you are looking for Indian/Bangladeshi or Pakistani food, this place is a big NOOOOOOO.

14/06/2026: Difficult to rate accurately. We only stayed one night. However, there's a clear need for renovation. On the way through the dark hallway to our first room, I remarked to my wife that it looked more like a two-star hotel. And that's exactly how the room felt. After an upgrade, we got a room with a sea view in a renovated section. Breakfast was okay. I'd advise against booking the brightly colored rooms. It was still okay for one night, but lacked a welcoming atmosphere.

13/06/2026: Stayed for 4 nights last week and we were very happy. The manager on the day we arrived was amazing, she went out of her way to be welcoming, friendly and gave fantastic recommendations on places to visit and see. So too Sandra on reception. Our room was very comfortable and the morning staff cleaning and re stocking rooms were great and very friendly with a big hello and good morning. Breakfast was good with a good selection of food. Morning breakfast staff were friendly, courteous and helpful. The location is excellent.

10/08/2026: Old world lounge with modern menu and great service. Lovely pint of Guinness. Easy parking.

16/05/2026: Fantastic food. Huge portions. Lovely afternoon celebrating my dads 80th birthday.
