The best restaurants in Donegal

15/07/2025: Popped in here for pizza. We just drove from Westport to Donegal and were famished. Our pizza came really quick. Service was excellent. I only wish there was more basil on my pizza.

10/07/2025: We stopped at this lovely spot on our little road trip around the Atlantic way, it was a brilliant find. It looked so interesting from outside. The purple building with the craft stall, and sign with frieda kahla. We had two dogs with us and we were allowed to sit outside with them. We were welcomed by the lovely owner, who promptly told us there were fresh scones out of the oven and she had made apple and plum cake fresh that day. We were surprised the menu was vegetarian, but it was not a problem. The food was absolutely delicious!! I got the cheese and onion panini and it had mustard and relish and was so delicious. The cake was phenomenal! I also had a mocha. And it was the best I’d had this whole week! The stall out the front sells the owners crafts, there is lovely adult and children’s clothes. I got a dress for my niece and an apron for myself. I can’t wait to go back on our yearly visit to Downings!

07/07/2025: Came here recently for dinner based on word of mouth recommendations. Staff were friendly, and the food and drink tasted good. Choice was a little limited for non-meat eaters though.

16/08/2025: Had a great stay here! The staff were super friendly and made us feel welcome. Parking was a bit tricky to find, which was a minor hassle. The town itself is small and quiet, not much going on, but it’s well-kept and charming. The breakfast was absolutely delicious—definitely a highlight! Would recommend for a cozy getaway.

19/07/2025: ***Friday Special Fish Tacos*** The fish was perfectly battered—light, crispy, and not greasy—paired with a zesty lime slaw that added a refreshing crunch. Portion size was generous, and the ingredients tasted fresh and thoughtfully sourced. A leading contender for best fish tacos in the local area. Will definitely be back for the tacos !!

19/07/2025: Came for dinner, food was hearty and the ambiance of the pub was lovely. There was live music after 9pm on Friday evenings but we just missed it.

16/07/2025: Great ,friendly service even though understaffed. Beautiful fish n chips with the best herby peas &homemade Tangy tartare sauce.. Will definitely be back. You should check it out! 5stars!

28/08/2025: Really good Chinese food. Slightly different menu than other places, which is a pleasant change. Nice flavour to the food, good prices and really quick service. Had my food served piping hot in 6 mins, impressive.
