Cappuccino Bar

Dublin
18/05/2025: A small café/restaurant with a very attractive exterior, contrasting with the dated interior. The service, provided by a young man, was very average: rushed and unsmiling, he served me my meal without cutlery or a napkin. I got up to get some, but he never came back. Fortunately, at the end of my meal, a young woman corrected her colleague's mistake; she was very cheerful and helpful. The food was very good but quite expensive (€16-19 for burgers + €3 extra for fries). The warm apple pie was delicious!
15/05/2025: We ended up here via Groupon and went here for lunch. Reservations are not necessary and we were welcomed friendly and hospitable. The name suggests that it is a coffee shop but you can also have a hot meal there. We enjoyed a delicious burger and fries and had a nice beer with it. Nice location with a very cheerful and extrovert owner. Definitely recommended for Temple Bar.

Wallace's Asti

Dublin
31/05/2025: We come here once a year for a special occasion. Sardinian cuisine is close to our hearts and well known to us. Today we were a little disappointed. I ordered ravioli oxtails. What was served was not ravioli but tortellini. Seven of them for the price of 24 Euro...seriously! Kids had delicious lasagne. We also had a platter of cheese, salumi which was nice. Affogato for 10eur a little exaggeration. The waiters staff was nice. But foodwise...next time we either order pizza or go somewhere else, sadly.
31/05/2025: The restaurant was recommended by our taxi driver during the journey from airport to hotel. He presented Wallace’s Asti in such a positive light, we had to go. The venue has a lovely rustic charm and the welcome was warm and friendly. We dined on fabulous, prepared to order, food which varied from sea food to lamb. The wine selection was varied and reasonably priced, we selected for an organic Sicilian white which was delicious and chilled perfectly. The service was excellent and the courses arrived at a relaxing unhurried pace. We consider ourselves fortunate to have been pointed towards Wallace’s Asti, a brilliant addition to our visit to Dublin.

Host

Dublin
28/05/2025: What a great place, ambience, service and outstanding innovative foods and wine.
22/05/2025: The best food I've had in Dublin. We went for the Chef's menu. Each dish was amazing, it's hard to pick the favourite. Staff was brilliant. The only downside is crowded tables, but it's a minor issue considering everything else.

Gaillot Et Gray

Dublin
03/05/2025: We were here for a quick beer and snack before an event in the area. We had 2 beers, the nibble and flatbread with garlic and chilli. The bread and olive oil are amazing! Reservations are recommended on the weekend as the place seems to be quite small and popular. We were lucky to get a table at the bar without a reservation as we arrived before the typical dinner time.
28/03/2025: They have delicious things. Their sandwiches and bakes are epic, and their coffees are made with skill. The staff always welcomes me with a warm smile, and it’s really cozy inside. Highly recommended 🙂👍🏻

D'Olier Street Restaurant

Dublin
22/05/2025: The 13 course tasting was the finest dining experience of my life.
18/05/2025: I could now describe how good the food and the pairing wines were. But many people have already described that here before me. So I'll try a different image: it was our first evening in Dublin and we talked about this evening at every subsequent dinner in Dublin. And in a good way. The evening was definitely a highlight of our holiday. The restaurant is on the ‘reasons for another Dublin holiday’ list. We were seated at the Chef's Table and were lucky enough to be served each course with a short introduction from the chefs. We were also able to watch the hustle and bustle in the kitchen. It was very impressive to see how well-rehearsed the team is in such a small space. And any problems that arose were solved without any shouting, you could only tell by the serious whispering. Without wishing to diminish the other courses, two courses have remained very clearly in my memory. One is the foie gras. I am generally a huge fan of foie gras. I almost always order it when it's on the menu. But it's not always good. The one served here immediately made it into my top 2. The other is a variation slightly flavoured with coffee and chocolate. To be able to decide which one is the best, I would have to taste them side by side. However, there are a few hundred kilometres between the restaruants. But the mere fact that I'm thinking about knocking my long-term favourite off the throne is a statement. The second course is the pretzel. And I have to say right away that I may be German, but I'm not Bavarian. So the pretzel itself is not a staple food for me. Nevertheless, pretzels and pretzel pastries are also ubiquitous in the Ruhr region. The Seeded Pretzel was not only delicious, but exactly as it should be: crispy on the outside but nice and soft on the inside. The Obatzda served with it was not a ‘must be served with something’ side dish but was perfectly balanced with the smoked cheese and enhanced the pretzel even more. But I've probably already written far too much, so I'll stop here. Long story short: definitely visit!
