If you think a chef—a skilled professional—is going to cook you a high-quality meal for pocket change when their own costs are upwards of €20–€30 per household head, you’re living in a fantasy land. The Lowdown: The Food: It’s incredible. Fresh fish, crab claws that actually taste like the ocean, and portions that don't leave you hungry. This is a family-run gem, not a factory. The Vibe: Proper traditional Irish hospitality. Cosy, warm, and authentic. The Price Tag: Expect to pay €50–€60 per person for a full experience. The Verdict: Ireland is not a cheap country. Quality costs money. If you can’t afford to pay for the talent in the kitchen and the atmosphere of a place like Sacre Coeur, you have two very simple options: Get a job that pays better. Go to McDonald’s. The Euro Saver menu exists for a reason and it suits some people just fine. I have stayed at fine hotels across Europe and North America throughout my business career, and this Kerry gem consistently earns its place among the very best. The view from my room stopped me completely on arrival — I stood at the window for a full ten minutes before I could bring myself to unpack. That is the power of this landscape, and Aghadoe Heights frames it as beautifully as any hotel I have encountered. The Heights Bar and its panoramic terrace is one of the great places to spend an Irish evening — Kerry whiskey in hand, the sun dropping behind the Reeks, the lakes turning gold below. Lake Room restaurant impressed me with its modern Irish cooking: Cromane mussels, Annascaul black pudding, Kerry mountain lamb of remarkable quality. The spa is excellent, the pool views extraordinary, and the sense of calm that descends over this property as the day ends is genuinely restorative. For anyone with Kerry blood or Kerry connections — and my grandmother's family were pure Kerry — Aghadoe Heights is a deeply personal and deeply satisfying place to stay. Magnificent.

09/03/2026: We stayed here for 3 nights in Nov 2025. Our room was very clean and comfortable. I specifically chose this hotel for the spa. Because our schedule was busy during the first two days, I saved the last day just for the spa. The hotel was very accommodating and allowed us to use the thermal spa area longer than the usual time limit. The heated lounge chairs were incredibly soothing, and the spa staff were very helpful whenever I had questions about their products. Breakfast was one of the best. During afternoon tea, we also received exceptional service from a lady who has worked at the hotel for decades. I regret that I cannot remember her name, but her attentiveness, communication, and professionalism were outstanding. I truly wanted to recognize her contribution through this review. The tea we had was excellent. If you stay here, try the “Irish Whiskey Cream” tea. You will love it.

23/03/2026: I work on the road and eat out very often and am limited due to being allergic to wheat. But my god this gluten free pizza is one of the best gluten free pizzas ive ever got while eating out! I highly recommend!!

28/11/2025: We were on holiday and staying in Milltown for 3 nights and decided we wanted to go grab some food and drinks at a local pub. We stopped at Larkin's Pub and immediately we knew we were in the right place the owner Mike helped us immediately and was full of great information of places to see around the area. We also came back a couple nights later on Wednesdays they have traditional Irish music being played right in the bar. Was great to listen to had great drinks and the locals were fun to talk with. If you're in the area stop by and see Mike and the rest of his crew. Tell him the farmer from Oregon sent you.

25/10/2025: Lovely Pub. I was on the way from Tralee we stop for a quick bite, good pub grub! Toasted sandwich with chips & salad, fire was blazing needed on a cold October evening. The Guinness looked good. Friendly staff and customers.

18/02/2026: Went for Lunar New Year and it was exceptional. The lion dance was a great experience and really fun! The restaurant is also beautiful, you really feel like you transported to China. We ordered the peking duck pancakes and dim sum basket for starters which were very flavourful. For mains we had Singapore noodles, monkfish, and Szechuan prawns, again was excellent and flavourful. Food all arrived at a good time. Staff were helpful and checked in to make sure we had everything we needed. Would recommend to any one looking for an authentic Chinese cuisine experience.

29/08/2025: A cozy little shop where they're very friendly and helpful. We tried to bring our stroller in, but it wouldn't fit through the door. They'd have removed it 😀 The food is good, nothing special, just good value for a reasonable price. Coffee refills are free.

25/07/2025: Basic (frozen) food for the high price paid (family of 5, 5 soft drinks). However staff were friendly and helpful. Appeared busy so we enjoyed eating outside with our dog in company. Suggestion to owner, have a dog bowl outside, please improve quality/freshness of food.
