Jack White's

18/11/2024: Great place to stop for a bite to break the monotony of the M11. Excellent value for money too - two mains for €31 🤩 - good quality honest food!
01/11/2024: Give it a miss people. The fish and chips should be called batter and and chips. Thick stodgy batter, very little fish. The crumble was amateur and possibly made by a five year old it was so awful. Most disappointing meal out of my life! The waitress was very unfriendly and when I tried to tell her how bad the food was she was extremely defensive. We had had a very long day in a Dublin hospital after I just flew in from Australia to see my terminally ill sister. Jet lagged, emotionally stressed, tired and the bad food and service was just to much to take. They did not care, just told me they had great chefs and anyone could have an off day in the kitchen and accused me of being aggressive because of my obvious frustration and distress.

Wicklow Brewery

Redcross
23/09/2024: Myself and my friend had a fantastic tour here last Friday. Jack our guide was very knowledgeable about the brewery and great craic, the beers they produce there were fantastic I'd recommend doing the tour only takes an hour. It's also attached to a lovely pub
23/05/2024: T5he staff were so knowledgeable about the drinks and were so friendly. Great atmosphere and an all around great place to stop in.

BEAST FOOD

Greystones
28/09/2024: We went in to The Beach House today looking for a table outside as we had our dog with us. We were turned away by a lady with a foreign accent. She said we would get cold sitting outside and they were not serving food outside. We left and went next door to the Boat Yard and had some lovely food. When finished we walked by the outside sitting area. There were several tables of people eating food with their pets. We were very disappointed and wonder why we were refused a table and hour before hand.
28/09/2024: Nice ! But, where is my Cheesecake ?

The Coffee Shop

Wicklow
28/09/2024: Poor experience. Waiting over a half hour for an abysmal "Gourmet" sandwich.
10/09/2024: A very busy coffee shop in a prominent place in Wicklow town. The food is very good quality particularly the apple and berry tarts. The staff are very helpful. There is a lack of vegetarian and vegan food however, but this is common in cafes in Wicklow town. However, I can usually make do with a salad. The reason I deducted one star is the fact that the tables inside are too close together so there is no privacy when dining with friends. It is still one of my favourite coffee shops in the town despite that.

ENJOY ASIAN Restaurant&Take away

Arklow
06/11/2024: Most places improved their standards considerably. This place didn't. While my companions seemed happy enough with what they were served, I definitely was not. I thought rubber chicken/beef was a thing of the past but it lives on - here anyway. The Thai curry was more like hot water soup. I didn't finish the meal and made some decent food when I got home.
05/11/2024: So good, we ended up eating here twice. Didn't expect it to be such so nice. Staff friendly lovely atmosphere.

Woodlands Restaurant

Glen of the downs
03/10/2024: I love the Woodlands restaurant! Food is so good and the service is great, very nice people are working there!
22/06/2024: One of the handful of restaurants that actually live up to the hype. The food is incredibly good; the service exceptional. Shoutout to Tareq and Samantha for accommodating our requests - the staff is a lovely bunch. PS: the view is stunning too!

Benjamin's

Wicklow
02/08/2024: I have been burning candles for years & by far the Max Benjamin's candles are the nicest.. They burn down evenly & the fact this is an Irish company is just the icing on the cake.. I bought the Mimosa and Sweet Amber from the old fragrances & it was beyond beautiful.. Unfortunately, it's now discontinued 😌
12/05/2024: Very nice scent. However, had to pour liquid into an empty diffuser bottle with wide-angled reeds to get the desired effect. Now, it works perfectly! Unfortunately, the new bottle/design with the reeds standing almost upright, doesn’t work for me.

Platform Pizza

Bray
05/11/2024: I went here with my parents for an impromptu lunch one Sunday afternoon. I will be back for a more planned meal to try out more dishes and pizzas. The dough was soft and crispy and blackened all in the correct proportions. The toppings tasted yummy and oozed quality. The cheese was gooey without being overpowering! I will definitely be back!
03/11/2024: Wish I could rate this higher! Best gluten-free margerita pizza I've ever tried! Wood fire ovens. Very cute atmosphere and friendly staff. I definitely recommend it to anybody near the Bray area looking for good pizza.

Lounge

Enniskerry
01/11/2024: Small pub, but super cozy. We sat at the little tables outside where we could calmly drink our pints. The very friendly waiter suggested us a beer and, in my opinion, we are better than Guiness. A good place to have a drink.
09/10/2024: Ok for a quick pint on a rainy day, the usual choice of beers

The Curry Leaf Indian Restaurant

Bray
31/10/2024: Very nice indian restaurant in Bray
26/10/2024: Ordered through Uber eats and it took more than an hour over estimated time and plus they had kept their landline off through which we couldn't get any update. Not gonna recommend it to anyone, would pass a word across so that nobody else faces this.

Las Tapas

Greystones
21/10/2024: Excellent in every respect. Genuinely authentic and consistent. Staff were brilliant. I've been raving about this place since my first visit
28/09/2024: Las Tapas is in a great location right in the middle of Greystones. Its warm ambience with candles and old school Spanish décor makes for a welcome change from the rush for glass and steel that too often befall restaurants these days. It has a genuine authentic charm to it that makes you feel like you've popped into an old school Barcelona Tapa bar. The service is warm and pleasant and relatively efficient, with a mixture of local and Mediterranean staff. The menu looks great with some regular choices that you'd expect from a decent tapas - Albondigas (meatballs), Pil Pil prawns, Padron peppers, Bravas etc, interesting vegetable dishes and plenty of gluten free options if required (although why bravas needs flour adding to it I don't know?) The wine menu on the other hand is distinctly average and expensive. The Whites, for example, are heavy on Pinot Grigio, Sauvignon Blanc etc. I'd expect more Spanish grapes in a Spanish restaurant. But it's understandable in that they most likely sell better due to being recognisable and familiar. They're also expensive. There isn't a Spanish grape based wine less than 40 euro. A suggestion might be to find a genuinely decent basic house Spanish rueda or similar that can be bought for a reasonable price maybe 30 euro. But let's go back to the food. After 15 years of existence, time seems to have taken it's toll on the menu. It feels like they've run out of enthusiasm for the food. The problem is that it's just not very tasty. It's not unpleasant, just a bit dull. Let's take the basic - Prawn Pil Pil. You get around 6 very small prawns with hardly any garlic or chilli. It's bland and uninspiring. With Pil Pil you want to soak up every last piece of the oil and garlic with bread, but you just don't with theirs. The prawns are tasteless and whilst OK, the dish just doesn't inspire. There's just no care gone into it. On the vegetables, take the Espinacas con garbanzos (spinach and chickpea) as another example. It tastes like a tin of chickpeas with spinach and a tin of tomatoes thrown in. There's no flavour, no seasoning and it's just dull. In Spain, it might have had a dash of sherry in it, or a hint of pimenton, but there's no seasoning at all, nothing. It reminds me of the La Tasca chain the UK. All the usual dishes, but bland and adapted to perceived local/Irish tastes. It feels like they've given up. And that's a shame because I SO want this place to be great. With options like Port House Ibericos, El Cellar Blackrock and of course Tapa de Lola, people are upping their tapas game in Dublin and Wicklow needs to take note. With such a great location and ambience and very friendly staff, this place could be legendary. I hope that the fabulous team take note and have a refresh of their menu. I get that prices have gone up, but you don't need to spend a lot on Spanish food to make it great, you just need to have the passion behind that food, and that flame seems to have been dwindling. Let's hope that they can turn it round, as this place could and should be so much better. My advice would be to go and see what the competition have been doing and take note. Reduce the size of the menu and focus on making fewer but better tasting dishes that they could become famous for. Customers in Greystones and the surrounding areas have changed. There are plenty of exciting options popping up now that are pushing the boundaries, and they expect more. Las Tapas needs to change. It doesn't need a visual transformation - that's part of it's charm, it just needs to refocus on it's core - the food, and re find its passion. I really hope it does

The Brass Fox

Wicklow
30/10/2024: Came here today for the first and last time. Service was absolutely terrible, ordered drinks and they came after our starters after asking 3 different staff members for water. One of the main courses could only be described as inedible, when our mains were being cleared the waitress didn’t say a word, it would have been nice if a single member of staff had asked if everything was ok. To top it off one of the dessert sundae glasses we received had a massive chip in the glass. Over all a terrible and overpriced meal
26/10/2024: Great food and very friendly service. Lots of history in the building.
