The best restaurants in Cork

05/11/2026: My eye caught the uniquely painted window as we were strolling through Cork for the 1st time. We were on our way to book into our hotel when we were greeted by the owner who assured us a brilliant meal once we had settled into our accommodation. We went back a few hrs later when we had worked up a serious craving for fish and chips. I have high standards, growing up with fresh fish ( living on the coast) and my granny making the most scrumptious crispy chips. We were seated immediately and had a brief friendly chat while ordering. It didn't take long before a magnificent cod & chips was presented to us with all the trimmings. You couldn't get fresher or hotter ( steam bellowed out as you cut into the crispy batter). A light, crunchy batter that didn't make you feel ill like a lot of battered fish has made me before. ( which was also gluten free which is brilliant for those who are intolerant or celiac). A huge, tender and flaky piece of fish that really hit the spot. We've lived in Ireland for 21 yrs and eaten fish and chips in howth and central Dublin from big well known names but they don't come even remotely close to quality and portion size of Kielys. The mushy meas and crispy, homemade chips just sealed the deal. There was the perfect Playlist in the background which polished off our experience, along side the smiling, chatty staff that kept us laughing and shared stories of the history of kielys. I want to go back to cork already just for their fish and chips. Wonder if they deliver 3 hrs away lol. Thank you for an incredible meal and experience.

15/05/2026: This restaurant was such a beautiful surprise. It has a gourmet vegetarian concept, but the atmosphere is incredibly relaxed, elegant, warm, and romantic at the same time. — the kind of place where you immediately feel comfortable. The tasting menu with was delicious, creative, and perfectly balanced. You can really feel the passion and attention behind every plate. It wasn’t just dinner, it was a true culinary experience that we would absolutely repeat and recommend to everyone. The staff looked after our table and took very good care of us from beginning till the ened. Amazing food, amazing atmosphere, and a memorable evening overall.

10/08/2026: Very popular restaurant, located in a quieter part of Cork in the shadow of Fort Elizabeth. And though it was busy and we were a party of 8, they still managed to find room for us. The cooked breakfasts were top quality, and one of our party opted for the ricotta pancakes which he said were delicious. Good coffe, faultless service, highly recommended and the views from the Fort (which is free) is also well worth a look.

08/08/2026: As a person of colour who has lived in Ireland for many years, I never expected to experience what felt like discriminatory treatment at a restaurant that received a McKenna award in 2026. When we arrived for our reservation, we were asked to wait, despite there being 4–5 staff members who appeared to be available. We stood there for a couple of minutes before being seated. The experience continued once we were at the table. It took quite some time for a server to come over to take our order. I noticed staff members walking past our table several times without making eye contact or acknowledging us, which left us feeling uncomfortable and unwelcome. To make matters worse, we then had to wait almost 45 minutes for our food, despite the restaurant not being particularly busy. The overall service felt unnecessarily slow and inattentive. I ordered a rosti, which I understood to be shredded potatoes formed into a cake or patty and fried. However, what I received was essentially a plate of fried potato pieces, which was not what I expected from a rosti. The one positive aspect of the experience was the decor, which was lovely. Unfortunately, the service and food did not live up to expectations. Overall, this was a very disappointing experience, and I would not return.

16/08/2026: Ish the server in Douglas village is really excellent. Food choice for sandwiches could be better.

17/10/2026: 4 of us went for a drink. The service was so bad. The staff were not busy. They never acknowledged us. We stood at the bar and eventually got served. The place itself was nice. The staff were actually rude. We will not be back again.

10/10/2026: Massive favourite of myself and wife for several years. Today was different, food was very poor. The mussels smelled of wet dog and taste even worse. The prawn pil pil, little to no oil very bland. As I mentioned a firm favourite of myself and my family for years but after this experience I won't be rushing back anytime soon.

22/08/2026: Absolutely appalling handling of what should have been a very basic matter of common sense. A member of staff took a dessert order directly from our 3-year-old child without checking with either parent first. The dessert was then brought out and added to our bill. A 3-year-old is obviously not in a position to authorise an order. More seriously, the staff had no idea whether our child had allergies, dietary restrictions, or whether there was another reason we had chosen not to order dessert for them. Serving food to a very young child without first checking with a parent is completely unacceptable. When I raised this with the manager, I expected the issue to be taken seriously. Instead, the response was incredibly nonchalant, with little more than a half-hearted apology. I made it clear that I would not be paying for something that neither parent had ordered or authorised. This was never about the price of a dessert. It was about basic responsibility, common sense, and appropriate service when dealing with young children. Mistakes can happen, but the dismissive attitude from management afterwards made the situation far worse. A very disappointing end to the meal, and based on how the complaint was handled, we will not be returning. We have not attended for lunch

07/06/2026: Went to the spa at the Kingsley hotel for the 90minutes offer. I rarely post reviews but it was absolutely amazing, way better than multiple 5* hotel spas I've been to in Ireland. Went just after the Bank holiday so it was really quiet and relaxing, the spa is very clean, temperatures are perfect and whoever designed the changing rooms - thank you for putting everything in one would need like hair straighteners and extra towels available without needing to ask for them. Would highly recommend and cannot wait to visit again 👌

10/10/2026: Traditional Italian cuisine. Excellent food, quality ingredients, friendly staff. I will be back.

14/09/2026: Very good atmosphere, great selection of beers, amazing pizzas and good music. However, the beergarden's retractable ceiling is always closed and tobbaco smoke often acumulates, so not really a smoke-free area as should be.

26/10/2026: Do not ever eat at this place. I got a mixed kebab from there on Saturday and I spent all of Sunday puking non stop, until nothing but stomach bile was coming out. They clearly do not take hygiene seriously in this place.

11/09/2026: A local recommended us and it didn't disappoint. We had spare time before our flight and walked the grounds (for free), appreciated the private/intimate space and especially loved the contemplation garden. We didn't go to the cafe/restaurant but you can see the reviews for that place I'm sure speak to its value. If I lived in Cork I'd also be recommending people to go there.

13/09/2026: Golden Elephant has amazing food! We really enjoyed everything we ordered. The flavourful ginger chicken wings and corn ribs were absolutely delicious. Our little one loved the kids’ chicken too tender chicken breast with egg fried rice. Everything was fresh, full of flavour and beautifully cooked. Definitely a place we’d love to come back to!

10/09/2026: Not my first visit and certainly not the last! My going choice: fried soft shell crabs...to die for. Can't even look at anything else even if the people with me rated the duck dishes higly as well as the Pad Thai I highly recommend

12/10/2026: Tofu Massaman Curry 🥰 Lovely People who like COcONuT MilK, must try Tofu Massaman Curry with Jasmine rice, it’s very tasty and tofu cooked well juicy while eating with rice. Must TRY 👍💐🫂

18/09/2026: Our party of four was looking for a place to eat dinner. While we enjoyed the Irish pub atmosphere, we wanted something different. We found this place by chance. Although we didn’t have a reservation and they were busy, they welcomed us and were very accommodating. Honestly, everything about this place exceeded our expectations: the food, the service, the friendliness of our servers, the atmosphere…I’d give them 10 stars if I could! We’re from the States but if we ever come back to Cork, we’ll be back!

15/09/2026: Wonderful restaurant love the food. Had a penne pasta w/chicken. The pasta sauce was tasty beyond expectations, wonderful The folks that work there really want to please. Loved it
