The best restaurants in Galway

14/03/2026: We had an absolutely fantastic stay at the Connemara Coast Hotel! We only stayed one night, but honestly, it was the nicest hotel we visited in all of Ireland, and we really wished we’d booked another night. Our room had an amazing ocean view, and they even gave us a bathtub after we asked by email beforehand — such a lovely touch. Breakfast was huge and delicious, everything we tried was spot on. There’s no lift, so we had to carry our suitcases up the stairs, but the staff immediately offered to help, which was really nice. Parking is super easy too, with lots of space to park without any stress. All in all, a top-notch stay with great service. If we’re ever back in the area, we’d definitely stay here again — and for longer next time!

14/03/2026: Lighting in room was very low, but it was a clean, spacious and comfortable room overall. Beautiful coffee from the machine in the room. The body lotion was a lovely added touch. A new outdoor hot tub was being installed but we were not told this at time of booking.

25/03/2026: Lovely little pub, hadn't time for food unfortunately, looked delicious. Bar lady got our order mixed up.

17/12/2025: June 2025: A great traditional pub in Leenaun just south of the head of the fjiord; nice pint of Guinness and a half of the Zero too. The food was a tasty fish and chips and the goat cheese parcel with salad. If you are in a Motorhome or camper van you can park overnight opposite in the public carpark for free which comes with a great view over the waters of the fjord.

15/03/2026: Very nice, it was a busy day with the match on but drinks came straight away and food very soon after service was very kind, got the fish and chips, very tasty

04/03/2026: The food was pretty good. My group and I got the muscles as an appetizer. They were amazing, every single dish was amazing. The fish and chips where great, so was the sourdough sandwich, and the spicy pizza. The only dish that we didn't enjoy very much was the margarita pizza. The crust and the bottom just was very flimsy and the sauce kept coming of. Besides that everything was so amazing and perfect!!!!!!

06/03/2026: A wonderful visit to the beautiful Kylemore Abbey.

05/03/2026: We visited at a time when there were very few other guests and the whole experience felt magical - as if the entire grounds were open just for us. The home was beautifully kept, the postings and signage very informative, the gardens were not quite in season but still quite lovely. We had a fantastic visit.

26/02/2026: Great place to stop for lunch. Had a lovely seafood chowder. Staff friendly and service fast.

17/02/2026: Food is outstanding, we've had breakfast and dinner there at different times, and it can never be faulted! Staff are friendly!

08/03/2026: Pizzas are amazing, Guinness is 5/5, cards and crosswords at every table with board games available to play this place never gets dull

13/01/2026: Campbell's is a must visit every time I'm in Ireland. *Especially* on pizza nights, music nights, and it's *unmissable* if there's pizza AND music... Go out of your way if you're near Galway. It's worth it!

04/03/2026: Decent food but beware of extra charges on your bill. As a party of two we ordered 2 gin and tonics each only to find at the end of the night we were charged nearly $6 for tonic on each drink on top of the $11 for gin for each drink. Our server never mentioned the extra charge when ordering and was conveniently no where to be found when we went to pay the bill. They do not list prices for standard drinks on the menu so we had no idea it would be this high. Would not recommend based on this experience. Plenty of good pubs in the area that won't rip you off.

01/02/2026: Top class service , when we arrived lady said kitchen had just closed, she went very quickly to kitchen to see could we order & came back promptly & took our order , such friendly staff & food fabulous .

06/03/2026: Very enjoyable place to stay, open fires with comfortable seating. Breakfast staff were extremely friendly and efficient. It is out of town so a car is needed.

05/02/2026: This hotel faces the sea. The two-part dinner was wonderful, with views of the ocean and herd of white horses at sunset! I ordered a seafood main course, which was quite sweet. The bread and butter were delicious. Breakfast was also great.

31/10/2025: Had dinner here recently, I would be a semi regular at this spot. Not sure if it’s been leased out since the last time I was there, as I didn’t see any of the old familiar faces working on the night I was there. What has changed is the introduction of a 10% service charge, which is extremely disappointing to see, none of my other usual spots in Clifden or its surrounding areas have this, so not sure why it’s been introduced here. I wasn’t aware of this until I was paying the bill, it might be on the menu, I’m not sure, but it definitely didn’t apply last time I visited. Probably going to give it a miss for a while, might pop back when the VAT rate gets reduced, see if the service charge still applies. If it does, I’ll be trying somewhere else up the street!

10/10/2025: Lovely calamari, fish and chips. Friendly service. A bit pricey but it was good.

19/03/2026: Off-street parking. Delicious food, friendly staff, and excellent Americano coffee. We sat in a private booth in a charming pub.

09/02/2026: I love ending up here for a pint after going for a drive. The view is lovely and it's always peaceful. I've only tried the Guinness - next time we'll try the food!

13/03/2026: Little out of the way gem between Claregalway and Galway, near the Rugby Club. Enlarged car park great improvement for stopping.

12/02/2026: Myself and my girlfriend go here when we go up to Galway, food is always excellent, staff friendly, and nice traditional Irish atmosphere, we’ve booked tables in the past but usually there’s no need, went with groups of up to 3 and got seating without booking

20/03/2026: Kariba’s café Balinasloe is a hidden gem. It’s a discrete top class cafe in the west of Ireland. It’s understated and lovely and refreshing. No noisy music . Comfortable seating. The staff were friendly and respectful of me needing a quiet time to sit and enjoy my coffee and cake .. The food is delicious. The premises are clean and fresh .. I will definitely be back ..

22/02/2026: Very tasty full Irish breakfast. The owner could not have been any more friendly or helpful and purchased a charging cable in the shop next door so I could charge my bike computer. Very much appreciated from the Kildare Cycling Club crew.
