The best restaurants in Galway

01/04/2024: Such a lovely coffee shop, a rare find. As coffee lovers, this absolutely hit the spot, and the sausage roles, millionaires shortbread and fresh warm raspberry scone were so delicious, that sadly they were devoured before I could take a photo.

31/03/2024: Genuinely such a lovely cosy restaurant. Yesterday we were in Clifden, the town was so busy and we didn’t expect to find somewhere that would have a table for us. We walked by this restaurant and the menu interested us all. We went in and asked and they said they could fit us in. Within minutes all 6 of us were seated and ordered. Our drinks were brought to the table along with a complimentary cracker and what we think was a crab pâté. Our food was quick to the table. We had ordered Carbonara, Lamb shank, Rib, Seafood chowder, ham and Turkey. Everybody loved everything. The service was amazing, the staff continued to check in everything was perfect. Can’t ask for anything more than amazing service and amazing food. Definetly will return if I’m in Clifden again.

01/04/2024: Ended up eating here twice over the weekend including Easter Sunday. Food is absolutely excellent and the place has a great atmosphere. Spotless everywhere from kitchen to the restaurant. We had three Tomahawk steak on the Sunday which was excellent. Starters and mains both days were faultless. The waitresses were really friendly to our young daughters and the colouring pages and crayons were a nice touch. Definitely family friendly and we’ll be back during our next visit. We met Paul the chef by chance as we were leaving and he was friendly. There’s clearly a sense of pride in the great food being served here. Lovely Guinness too!

30/03/2024: If you haven’t been to this wonderful restaurant yet, get your glad rags on immediately! This is the best restaurant with top quality food and wonderful staff! The food was incredible and extremely reasonable for the best mouthwatering food I’ve had in a long time. Thank you for the wonderful experience.

30/03/2024: Update March 2024: The Lamplight has added breakfast/brunch on the weekends and weekdays over the summer. They are open a bit earlier than other places which is nice if you're more of an early riser. The food is also more upscale and updated. Breakfast is hard to find in town and this is a great addition to this awesome little spot From Jan 2022: Truly one of the best dining experiences I've had. We've eaten at the Lamplight once before in Fall 2021. That time, we had an amazing wine and ambiance experience and the food was good. Tonight (January 2022), was just exceptional. The wine selection was impeccable and the food superb. Our server, Ivan, was friendly and knowledgeable. Every bite of food tasted well planned and created with pride. We loved it so much we booked again for this weekend. If you are in Clifden, love amazing food and wine, this is the place to go. Great atmosphere and even better dining.

02/04/2024: The best food and best value in Clifden. Excellent tasty food & generous portions, the chicken curry is amazing. Also had burgers there. I cannot fault the place and look forward to returning.

26/03/2024: Welcoming staff who upgraded us when we arrived which was very kind. Interesting local history talk at 6:30pm every evening by a warm fire with complimentary Prosecco. Would recommend this hotel, right by the Sky Road perfect if you’re on the wild Atlantic way.

14/03/2024: What a wonderful place. Great view from our upstairs window seat. Service was very prompt and personal - even remembered my first name, having only been introduced 20minutes before on arrival. Food was divine. Chowder, prawns, sea bass all first-class, cooked beautifully and presented with panache. Rather surprised by the bill, which was definitely a lot less than I would have expected! A pleasant surprise indeed Can’t wait to have another meal here - hope we can get in - it was crowded downstairs on our departure, apparently by locals. Not really surprised by that, in retrospect.

31/03/2024: What a amazing spot. Food was to die for and staff were just brilliant . Had music too after meal so huge plus 😁. Just to add though. Huge opportunity to get late bar and get DJ in after live band. Would make a bomb

02/02/2024: Quaint little 'nook' in the middle of nowhere. Coffee is good. The owner lady is lovely, and chats away merrily. Nice spot for a quick coffee and to vent your thoughts/ dilemmas, whichever it may be.

11/12/2023: I did enjoy the vege squash curry, and the Al fresco dining room is a bit different and still nice in winter if you wrap up warm! However, €17 for a vegetable curry for lunch in this setting is just too much for this day and age which is a shame as I had planned to go back. A can of soda is also double the price at €3 so unfortunately €20 for 1 person for a lunch just isn't doable for most people as a regular thing.

02/11/2023: Killer food worth the journey and for the awesome dining room view. Had the roast chicken sambo on excellent bread. Bring a jacket.
