25/09/2025: Kevin and Rebecca were the best. They treated us American idiots with the utmost respect and hospitality. Definitely a great experience. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

12/09/2025: Myself and husband with our teenage kids had dinner today . It was absolutely delicious, fabulous food, we really enjoyed every minute of eating here in Barr na Sraide Gastropub. Highly recommend 👌.

30/11/2025: We are regulars at Blackthorn because it’s our favourite restaurant in Galway. The food is really special and creative, always tastes amazing. We have never been disappointed. The service is wonderful, especially Fergal who knows every aspect of the menu and guides us through the wine list. Definitely go!

19/10/2025: Absolutely shocked. How dirty the plates and water jugs were full of brown little spots, i sent the water back with no apology, asked for a bottle of water that i still paid for, spent over 90euro and when it was said a 2nd time when paying bearly an apology. Now im wonder what were them brown spots on plates and glass jug, or maybe it should be reported else where, absolutely disgusting.

07/12/2025: The place is very well located, views are awesome, and service was grand. We had roast beef, fish and chips and mussels. Portions are big, food was ok but we were expecting it to be better, I would go back there for the atmosphere but not for the food.

04/12/2025: We called in for a late lunch on a Tuesday afternoon and had a lovely warm welcome. The food was tasty and plentiful, service efficient and friendly. The local beer was delicious. It was busy but not packed so a nice relaxed atmosphere.

30/10/2025: I had dinner with my family at this restaurant. They had simple food to suit all tastes and ages. The portions are quite generous, so you won't leave hungry. Finally, I'd like to mention that the staff is very friendly and the service is very fast. I would definitely return.

06/11/2025: Everyone at the restaurant was very nice! Food was great too especially the raspberry crumble! We were seated by the cute little window with a beautiful view thanks for seating us there! We loved it! Plus there’s a very adorable friendly cat in roundstone which i think needs to be appreciated here too & please buy the little fur ball some food!

16/10/2025: A lovely place to eat after visiting the entire fjord area. Pleasant atmosphere and attentive, efficient staff. The menu may not be extensive, but the sandwiches are delicious and the Guinness, as always, is exceptional. There are plenty of tables and a large outdoor terrace, and everything is very clean. Easy parking nearby. 100% recommended.

04/10/2025: We parked in town and had a great night here speaking to the owner between waves of groups coming through. Definitely the best Irish coffee we’ve had and the best craic of our trip thus far.

24/08/2025: Absolutely stunning! The pub is very open, bright with a lovely high staircase that lets in loads of light. We were greeted in a very friendly and professional manner. A nice menu and well laid out. The food is ABSOLUTELY delicious and huge portions too! The Forge has to be the nicest and best experience we have ever had. Bravo!

31/10/2025: Had dinner here recently, I would be a semi regular at this spot. Not sure if it’s been leased out since the last time I was there, as I didn’t see any of the old familiar faces working on the night I was there. What has changed is the introduction of a 10% service charge, which is extremely disappointing to see, none of my other usual spots in Clifden or its surrounding areas have this, so not sure why it’s been introduced here. I wasn’t aware of this until I was paying the bill, it might be on the menu, I’m not sure, but it definitely didn’t apply last time I visited. Probably going to give it a miss for a while, might pop back when the VAT rate gets reduced, see if the service charge still applies. If it does, I’ll be trying somewhere else up the street!

10/10/2025: Lovely calamari, fish and chips. Friendly service. A bit pricey but it was good.
