The best restaurants in Kerry

10/08/2025: Overpriced, Disappointing, and Not 5-Star Quality. We recently stayed here (8th August 2025) for our 3-year wedding anniversary, and sadly, it was a major disappointment — especially compared to other 5-star experiences like The Europe Hotel. We rang ahead a few days before to say we’d be arriving early as we were coming down from Cork and had booked in advance to use the facilities (e.g. sauna/steam room). However, when we arrived, we were made to feel unwelcome at reception. The lady was dismissive when we tried to explain we had called in advance, not the warm welcome you’d expect from a supposed 5-star hotel. From there, things didn’t improve. Facilities were average, and when we arrived, an elderly couple were already complaining at reception — not a great sign. I had mentioned our anniversary a week in advance, but there were no upgrades or thoughtful touches offered. I was shocked to find the hotel charging €110 for “extras”: €65 for a bottle of Prosecco (which I later found online for €20), €20 for five medium-sized chocolate-covered strawberries, and €25 for petals on the bed. I paid because I wanted to make the experience special for our anniversary — but for what we got, I feel robbed. We also noticed a smaller pub within the hotel that seemed like it might offer a more relaxed atmosphere. When we asked two staff members, they told us it would open around 5:30 p.m. By 8 p.m., however, it was still closed. After asking again, a waitress informed us it wouldn’t be opening at all. At that point, we decided to leave the hotel and head into town instead. The whole place felt devoid of atmosphere, there was no proper pub or lively social space. In the end, we left what was supposed to be a 5-star hotel just to find a regular pub with some genuine character. Some staff members were rude, the food was very average, and overall, this was extremely overpriced for the experience. We didn’t even have a balcony in our room. If you’re looking for true luxury, service, and atmosphere, save your money and go to The Europe. This simply does not meet 5-star standards. We will not be returning or recommending this place to anyone.

05/08/2025: Didn't stay here,but often go for a bite to eat,or a drink. Lovely hotel. Great views. Well trained and lovely staff.

24/07/2025: Very dirty. We were there yesterday. On the 2nd floor, all the tables were covered in dirty dishes and garbage. We sat at all this and for 3 hours, no one from the workers came to clean it up. What do you do at work? You didn't have many people, what's the problem with inspecting the tables every 15 minutes. All the tables were dirty, everything was spilled. They cleaned it up only at 6:00 p.m. when the establishment closed. Are you serious?

10/07/2025: Stunning food hit like you wouldn’t believe. I had the classic; sublime! She had falafel burger; tasty! Great drinks, and lovely dogs who brought their owners. Everyone was so nice and the staff were sublime! Can’t rate it highly enough x

11/08/2025: Rooms were aged and service was spotty (receptionist often missing from the lobby).

10/08/2025: Central location but noisy! Our room facing the street was excruciatingly loud during the night. The source of the noise was a club or pub with noisy guests and roaring cars. Otherwise, the room was clean and OK. Breakfast was poor and lacked freshness. However, the staff was friendly and the service was good.

29/06/2025: Two (delicious) pastries and two espressos for €23.20 – and there are no price tags anywhere. I don't usually complain about prices on vacation, but this seems excessive.

14/06/2025: Angry, rude bartender accusing people of stealing glasses he claims are “5 euro a pop” and refusing service on said baseless claim. Was made to feel extremely uncomfortable despite frequenting the place often since I have moved to the village. He showed a nasty side to a woman having a quiet drink alone.

11/08/2025: We eat here regularly as a family (including a 3-year-old child) and we are always very well received! The food is generally good, with some dishes particularly to my taste (the fried chicken with spicy honey sauce is really good). Perfect for eating in, although many do takeaway.

25/05/2025: I am ashamed of this place. I went into the shop with kindness and received absolute lies. I came into this shop and asked if the food here was Halal and the employee at the shop replied yes. I found out from a friend that the manager said all the food is cooked in one batch of oil. That means that the "halal" chicken was cooked with all the pork. I am disappointed with this shop. You just lost a loyal customer.

17/08/2025: Third time here. Absolutely gorgeous lunch. Tried the potted crab as a starter between two. I had scampi and fries for main and hubby had the fish and chips. My absolute No. 1. Won't be beaten.

17/08/2025: Great! Nice food, nice restaurant and great scenery! Nice waitors and you get great service. The tempo was a bit too quick between starter and main.

08/05/2025: The pub was very quiet on the night that I visited. The lager was cheap at 6.00 e and the barman was a really nice fellow who offerred to go next door to the supermarket to get me some crisps which they did not sell. Great place to watch sport with 3 televisions available.

25/04/2025: Excellent pub, well worth a visit

02/08/2025: Stopped off here while cycling the Ring of Kerry. Tom and the fellow behind the bar run a great little pub here. I ordered up one of the specials on the board for lunch. Open Faced Salmon Sandwich. Tom walked over to the seafood market after I ordered it and picked up the fresh catch of the day. Class pub out of Tom and the crew.

30/07/2025: Absolutely amazing. Great food, the chef was so friendly and came out of the kitchen asking if his food was good:) Very good service and a great atmosphere, mainly locals

08/05/2025: Very hardworking and polite workers in this takeaway. The burgers were quick, tasty and served with a smile quickly and in a dine in container. At 6.60 for 2 cheeseburgers you are a hard marker if you are able to complain.

20/04/2025: I went in to pizza roma kenmare while there for the weekend, it was raining so enquired about a taxi ,so when they gave us our food the gentleman behind the counter said that his delivery driver would drive us back to the hotel free of charge, wow incredible people and beautiful food highly, highly recommend it lov

27/07/2025: Went here last night around 12. Greeted by a lovely gentleman and looked after our order so kindly. We will be back. Food was only devine also.

16/08/2025: Check in was OK if the parking situation was more defined things would be easier. Went for a meal in the bar waited at "Please wait to be Seated " sign for 10 minutes no one arrived. I walked up to a young lady and said I would like a table please for my family DO YOU HAVE A RESERVATION? WAS THE QUESTION ABRUPTLY MAY I ADD ... The bar was completely empty. A reservation I replied? I'm staying at the hotel if its a problem I will go elsewhere? No please sit menus given. The attitude was lazy ignorant and absolutely appalling . Don't know the name but a young lady with glasses with absolutely no manners whatsoever . I have worked in the industry for over 25 years and by god this was shocking. It was like we were a burden, I overheard her speak to a regular customer apparently and some colleague was late for their shift so this was the attitude????? Management what the actual hell this is madness. We paid a fortune to stay we expect at least a but of respect. Investigate your staff absolutely appalling

15/08/2025: The hotel is in a central part of the city, has excellent staff, the dinner food is good but the breakfast is poor, the rooms are large but old-fashioned and has a very good bar.
