The best restaurants in Kildare

22/08/2025: We chose the restaurant through the Michelin guide, looking for a place to dine while breaking up the journey from Cork to Dublin. The restaurant is very local and, given its location, not frequented by tourists. The atmosphere is very welcoming, starting from the outdoor area and the beautiful wooden counter at the entrance. The wait staff is extremely courteous and professional (we met a Sardinian woman who has lived there for 20 years!). The cuisine is enjoyable, starting from tradition but veering towards contemporary, with some forays into other cuisines (Spanish, South American, and Asian). The three dishes we ordered were all balanced and delicious. The quality/price ratio was fair. A wonderful experience!

18/05/2024: I was at the hangedmans restraunt today with my family. As I was sitting down having our dinner I over heard a horrendous conversation with the owner of the restraunt. The owner was shouting at a woman from what I understood was not her fault at all as someone with her had canceled a booking, the owner then went on to tell the woman to f***off and to leave. Another man then came up to tell the owner that this wasn’t right or talk to a woman like that, and his response to the man was f*** off aswell, totally inexcusable behaviour and should not shout and use vulgar language to a woman. I said it to him when paying for our bill that I would be leaving this review as I was disgusted with his behaviour. Do not come here unless you want to be shouted at or abused for no reason. The owner is a horrid man

11/08/2025: My friend & I had lunch on Saturday 9th August. We had a table booked. We were offered a choice of table. Seated straight away. Food was delicious . Staff were very polite & efficient.

12/09/2025: Good gym, small enough sized pool, can be very busy when lessons are on but good facilities nonetheless Friendly staff, however AC in the locker rooms doesn't seem to work, very very warm in summer. Also towel dryer machine was broken for a couple of weeks and never replaced.

12/09/2025: Disgraceful treatment at reception and actually deserves a negative star review for the way that they treat customers. I have never given a negative review on google as most business need as much support as possible. However, my experience trying to check in to this hotel tonight has left me very angry. I have stayed at this hotel regularly for the past 20 something years. I stayed there for one night this week already on Monday night and booked 2 nights for later in the week for Thursday and Friday nights. I called the hotel earlier in the evening to let them know that I would be arriving late because I got caught in work. After a very long and hard day at work, I arrived at 11:30pm to check in after driving 3 hours from Cork. The man at reception was incredibly rude and ignorant to me but I didn’t take much notice until he asked me for my card to confirm the booking. I told him that I would just pay with my phone (Apple Pay) as I usually do. He said he needed to see my card to prove my identity. I told him that I did not have my card on me but I showed him my drivers licence which showed my picture, identity and address. Also, I wouldn’t have had the card with me that the reservation was made with because my wife made the booking for me with her card. He would not accept this and would not allow me to check into the hotel, even though I offered to pay there and then. The regular bar man happened to walk past at the time and asked me if I was alright and I explained the situation to him. He was also surprised and in fairness he tried his best to help but the rude man on reception who told me he was the manager said that he called their operations department or something like that and they would not allow me to stay. So at almost midnight after a very long day I had to walk out of the hotel and try to find somewhere else to stay for the night. It was one of the most bizarre and annoying experiences that I have ever had at a hotel. Needless to say that I will never set foot inside that hotel again and I would recommend anyone to avoid it if you can. Nobody needs to be treated like that. An absolute disgrace.

02/08/2025: By far the best kebab in the town. Amazing flavour. Beautiful naan wrapped around gorgeous fillings. Went for the Chicken Shawarma. Wife got Chicken Shawarma kebab tray and a naan bread. Both were delicious. Would highly recommend.

19/07/2025: Their service was ok, though had to be reminded about the dips 3 times, then my partner added one after as they didn't bring it, was a quiet time when we went. Food was ok, the peas 🫛 of the mutter paneer weren't cooked properly, the paneer was lovely and cooked properly though, chips lovely, salad and when the garlic dip arrived was nice, the starter chicken was rubbery.

11/08/2025: We were staying in Maynooth for one night and were fortunate enough to find this wonderful venue. Bar staff were all lovely and welcoming, security guy was really friendly and helpful re recommendations for food (they had stopped serving food on site by the time we got there) and the owner was an absolute joy and took time to chat with us. Even when they needed to see my kids’ ID as kids need to be off site by 10pm (my kids are both adults but look younger than their ages), this was asked for pleasantly and discreetly. And everyone was great with my son, who is high-functioning autistic (the incredibly thoughtful owner even offered to try to find some ear defenders if anything got too loud for him!), which meant we could all relax and enjoy our night. A great venue, that offers everything from a quiet outdoor seating area to traditional music in another part of the venue to a louder more ‘nightclub feel’ in another part. All age profiles were there and having a great night, as this place offers something for everyone. Lovely relaxed vibe, can’t recommend this place highly enough. We will definitely be back!
