The best restaurants in Donegal

13/08/2026: One of the best seafood chowder i have had. Ate there 3 nights in a row but avoid Wednesday when the pub fare is not available and a pizza company takes over for the night. Unless of course you like pizza but i thought they were rather bog standard.

07/08/2026: Just the perfect Irish Pub. Great bar; lots of small rooms making an excellent, but intimate, atmosphere; wonderful beer and very good food. The service is as friendly and helpful as you will find anywhere. I had the fish and chips with mushy peas which were very good.

10/10/2026: A lovely wee café! The cakes are absolutely gorgeous, especially the caramel squares, my absolute favourite! The coffee is always spot on, and the bread is delicious too. Staff are always friendly and polite, and the place is spotless. Can't fault it. Well worth a visit! ☕❤️

15/09/2026: We stayed here for 3 days. Room 6 is very spacious for the two of us and the dog. The rooms are right next to the bar, but it doesn't bother you. We slept well on the rather hard beds with the rushing river nearby. The Wi-Fi is downright bad. The kitchenette with a kettle, teapot, fridge, microwave, and hotpot is fine, but there is very little cutlery. Spacious living room with a sofa, small table, and 2 chairs. The bathroom is spacious, but unfortunately, the toilet bowl is loose and there is no soap or shampoo provided. The motion-sensor lighting is very annoying; it doesn't detect you when you are standing in the shower cubicle, so you are showering in the dark after just 1 minute! We have no idea about the quality of the food or drinks in the bar since we are out and about all day. There are many shops nearby. EV charging is also available close by. There is a tourist information office in the church on the corner.

28/08/2026: Finally, a friendly and welcoming reception from the staff and the owner at this pub/restaurant! Fresh, hearty food, nothing to complain about 🙂

12/10/2026: Popped in for a cuppa on a cold day. Nice spot with friendly staff and a good selection. Had already had lunch so skipped eating but the cakes looked so good we picked some for lunch for our hike the next day. Great fuel that kept us going :)

04/10/2026: Nice venue with plenty of parking. The staff were great, very friendly and helpful. We all found it to be very warm in there. We had a reservation but had to wait for a table, it was quite busy. The food was good but the menu was a bit bland, a few of us found it hard to choose a main and felt we settled for something rather than actively choosing something. All in all a good experience in the end.

11/09/2026: A very cute little Airstream-style caravan that serves as a food truck. Very pleasant service. Simple but tasty toasts, delicious pastries. Very reasonable prices.

13/10/2026: A wonderful pub for food. Very friendly staff. Four stars because service was extremely slow. Two hours for two courses. Everyone was working very hard but they seemed to be short staffed.

18/09/2026: Great Guiness, welcoming staff and great countryside views. Wood burner in front bar, very cosy.

12/10/2026: Superb service, a great place to stay the night; the room was very cozy and the dinner was delicious—the chowder and fish and chips were especially tasty. The view of the mountains and the ocean from the room was incredible.
