The best restaurants in Donegal

21/10/2024: This was an unbelievably very good restaurant. Heading into winter on the West Coast of Ireland, the food, the service, and the atmosphere including the playlist was simply sublime. I’m not being paid to write this review, but it was probably one of the best meals I have eaten out in a very long time. Everything tasted fresh and full of flavour; from the steak to the asparagus to the potatoes, bread and peppercorn sauce I don’t think I have tasted better.

02/10/2024: Restaurant was empty when we arrived at 7pm , but we were met with a warm welcome. I had Tuscan fillet steak. Husband had spaghetti bolognaise .

13/08/2024: Visiting for our 40th wedding anniversary. Had a lovely meal and a smashing evening all round made all the more special by the welcome and fuss made of us by all the staff including an Italian serenade by " Baritone ".

27/10/2024: We stopped to warm up and get a coffee and a cake. The place was packed, but we managed to get a table. The apple pie, Italian coffee and mocha were lovely and very tasty. Lovely warm welcoming people in the coffee shop. Thank you for having us 😌🙏🏻

08/11/2024: We had a great breakfast this morning after climbing Mount Errigal for sunrise. Great staff and delicious food choices and coffee. Best breakfast we've had in Ireland so far!

18/08/2024: We stayed at the Mill Park Hotel and went for an evening meal at this restaurant. It was just great. The staff were friendly and attentive and food tasted great. We can highly recommend this restaurant.

24/10/2024: Fabulous Service, great atmosphere, a lovely pub with a variety of settings to suit everyone's wants, needs and mood! Quiet little corners, plenty of space, pool table and Garden area as well as a smoking area in the outdoor area. Fabulous place for a quiet drink or a party 🥳

08/11/2024: We had a family dinner on a busy Saturday evening. Fabulous crowd. Fabulous menu. Fabulous food and exceptional friendly efficient service. We will return.

18/10/2024: 2 experience. Full irish breakfast was the best and then evening meal where I went for steak was equally good. Hard to beat for food, service, value, and craic!

04/11/2024: AVOID IF YOU ARE LOOKING TO CELEBRATE WITH CAKE! We booked the Yellow Pepper to celebrate my daughter’s graduation. We are returning customers and have celebrated many family occasions here. When I asked the server for a knife to cut our cake I was told “No, the cake cannot be consumed on the premises.” When I went to pay the bill I asked the owner/manager why this was? She said, “what’s the point in me paying a chef if you’re having cake for dessert”. Some of our party did have dessert. She went on to say that no cake was allowed on the premises since 2018. I knew this to be untrue as we have had cake in recent years. I relayed this back to her which she dismissed immediately as untrue, I found the whole experience very rude and humiliating. I then had the embarrassing task of returning to the table and telling my guests that they couldn’t have any cake. I have no issue with a policy like this, I do however have issue with being treated with such disrespect. I feel the manner and tone in which I was spoken to unacceptable. We will not be returning. Please do yourself a favour and ask before booking if you can bring your cake to save yourself the embarrassment. We have had birthdays, communions, confirmations here but apparently graduation cakes are the exception. Very disappointing!

29/10/2024: Food service and atmosphere were all excellent. Very attentive staff, obviously well trained.

10/11/2024: A fabulous hotel, they could not have been nicer to us, very accomodating to our needs & requests. The place was spotless, food was great and the staff top notch. Highly recommend this gem of a hotel.

30/10/2024: Nice smart hotel. But we hadn’t visited for a few years, so came back for lunch. Not what it was. We were seated in the café, after waiting in reception for 5 minutes. friendly staff. But the food was not to an equal high standard. The fish and chips were fresh and good. The smoked salmon bagel was great. But the vegetarian option of stir fried vegetables was very poor. It had not been stir fried and the noodles were topped with a sickly sauce and a few mange tout. A proper wok was not involved! It was served lukewarm. The chicken curry had a balti style metal dish with an oily catering style sauce and boiled chicken pieces dropped on top. Most disappointing. Sadly we won’t be back, as we like Glenties, and with children we like to go out for a lunch time treat. Not worth €70. :(

18/10/2024: Good produce store clean neat and tidy. But their seems to be an atmosphere in the place. Staff not to friendly. Yet when I go into supervalu carndonagh it's the opposite from buncrana staff wise. Plus the fact finding semi skimmed milk not delivered In when I'm in store. Also when the fella that is off that does the cat food nobody orders cat food in. And one particular brand seems to be less in. As they keep sending wrong the wrong one. Sick and tired of ot all now. Something needs to be done about it quick. Before I keave and shop elsewhere

08/10/2024: Excellent SuperValu. Shop had great availability I could get everything I needed. Staff very friendly and very helpful. This shop is a credit to the manager and staff.

03/11/2024: This place is one of the best street styled food in the donegal town. They have a separate breakfast and lunch menu which is served accordingly. They also have specials for the day which is mentioned on the black board on the wall. I wonder why this place is not in the top list or on the must visit place in town. We went for lunch at this place and the place was almost full. No doubt why this place is always full. The food served here was spectacular and lip smacking as the name suggests "Proper Street Food". We had ordered one from their specials -- Korean fried chicken burger and other from the lunch menu -- Lebanese styled falafels taco which was served with salad and chips on the sides. We were absolutely delighted with the burger and would highly recommend having it if it is on the specials menu the day you visit. The tacos were also excellent which was served with chips and salad on the side. Not to forget the well brewed coffee, who doesn't like a nice coffee. They also serve delicious desserts like cakes and pastry which are a must have after such delightful meal. The service was top notch and the staff were very friendly and polite all the time. The food was served hot and fresh within a reasonable time. There is plenty of space available for parking outside the restaurant. I would recommend this place to all my friends and colleagues and also to people who read my review to please visit this place if you crave some fantastic street food with quality, quantity and most importantly taste.

03/11/2024: I wonder how this place is not in the list of best things to visit in donegal. It is one of the best street styled food in the town, it has a separate breakfast menu and a lunch menu as well. I do recommend to go for the specials as well as they hard to miss. I was absolutely delighted with the burger and would highly recommend to have it if it is on the menu if you are to visit this place. The tacos were also good which were served with chips and salad. They also serve delicious cakes and pastry which are a must have after the lunch or a sides The well brewed coffee cannot be said undone as well. The service was top notch as we had a bit of confusion with the menu and the server were fortunate enough to help us with it. There is ample of parking available as well in the locality.

29/10/2024: A great place to dine in breakfast or lunch or just coffee with small treat. The food was great and very delicious, the chicken is halal which was great! We had the tikka wrap and the lemongrass chicken! Very authentic and delicious. It’s such a nice quiet place for dates too!

05/11/2024: Ate here at this authentic Italian Restaurant on the 5/12/2024. The atmosphere was cozy and warm, the staff delightful, friendly, kind and helpful. The food was delicious and the staff were very helpful in making recommendations. Would highly recommend a visit if you're given the opportunity.

03/10/2024: Bella Vista, Bundoran Ireland. Great pizza, excellent service, wine from Italy and the best tiramisu! Everything tasted fresh and homemade and we were warmly welcomed and looked after. The great view from the restaurant of the sunset over the beach was a bonus. We’ll be back!

27/10/2024: Spectacular pub, interiors that make you feel at home. Family atmosphere and fantastic people. I ate the best salmon ever here.

15/10/2024: Best place for food in Adara Inside is a nice little bar and side room bit like your granny’s parlour and good mix of locals and tourists Nice menu they even serve local oysters Nice place to have a couple of pints after your meal
