19/11/2025: Good value for money/comfort. Free parking in front. Very comfortable room and bedding. The bathroom lacks a space heater and a towel rack. It's above the pub, so there's loud music until midnight/1 a.m. If you're looking for a peaceful night, stay somewhere else or bring earplugs.

18/12/2025: I have visited this hotel several times over the past few years for weddings. The bar staff, wait staff, and reception have always been great. However, on my most recent visit, we asked reception at 6pm if it was possible to pre-book a taxi for later in the night, but they explained that they do not do pre-bookings but if we came to reception half an hour before we plan to leave, they can order a taxi for us. We went to ask reception to order our taxi at 11.30pm, reception was closed and we were directed towards the Night Porter, he explained to us that he would order the taxi from his phone and then he would come and get us when the taxi arrived, he also took a £10 deposit. I thought the process was questionable as we are relying on him to track us down, he also said it would be at least half an hour, so we can go back into the event room. He walked by our table several times in the next 20 minutes, made eye contact with us, but at no point indicated our taxi had arrived. After some time, I asked him if there was any word on the taxi – he responded by saying the taxi has been and gone and our deposit is away with it. He insisted he could not find us and was immediately defensive and shifted the blame onto us. I understand that it can be difficult to find people in large events, but we made every effort to make it simple for him to locate us by not leaving our table for the next 1.5 hours, but he made little effort it would seem to locate us. Essentially, the Night Porter took money from us for a service, then failed to deliver that service, and we are still out of pocket. Initially we planned to be home at midnight, we did not arrive home until 3am, the entirety of that 3-hour period was spent trying to get our own taxi. If visiting this hotel, do not rely on the hotel for transport, and do not pay for anything unless you can guarantee they will deliver it.

10/12/2025: The hotel is set in a stunning landscape and looks beautiful. Everyone wondering where to stay in this part of the islands should definitely choose this place. I’ve seen a lot of hotels, but this one is in a truly unique location, with very friendly staff and a great atmosphere. Highly recommended!

31/10/2025: Stopped in Ballybofey for lunch. Had the special, chicken and ham pie with mash topping. Hearty lunch for a miserable day. Place was full. Service was excellent.

02/12/2025: I had a delicious Irish beef stew. The building is steeped in culture and history. Inside, everything is rustic and authentically decorated. The Rusty Mackerel is definitely worth a visit. Despite the lack of seating, we were greeted warmly and eventually got a table.

05/10/2025: Truly amazing place with gorgeous views and beach right nearby, fabulous breakfast and cappuccinos, super nice staff, comfy beds and very nice and big rooms and bathroom. We ate dinner one night which was fabulous and well worth it. Overall great value and quality

09/08/2025: Beautiful old house and location if slightly out of the way. The bedroom we had was large and the bathroom huge with an old-fashioned bathtub with ‘feet’. The restaurant staff were absolutely delightful and the 2 or three course meals, even if pricey, were top-notch. There was an issue with s night-time fire alarm but the hotel rapidly compensated us for the inconvenience. We probably wont be coming back for a couple of years but we will certainly consider returning at some point.

07/12/2025: Had the most beautiful lunch in Downings Bay twice this week, the food was excellent, it was warm and cosy with lovely friendly staff. I would highly recommend.

03/10/2025: I stayed in the hotel for one night , the rooms are fantastic and the restaurant serves great food , they have free car parking also you can park on street outside front door, the staff are very friendly and helpful, I highly recommend this hotel, 5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

07/09/2025: A nice hotel right in the heart of Letterkenny. Everyone we came across were nice, and the room was nice as well. There was enough parking while we were there, and they have an underground parking area as well.
