The best restaurants in Donegal

17/06/2025: Sorry to harbour inn we were really looking forward to our meal this evening. Our main order either got messed up or not put into the computer right. We waited at least 30 minutes from starter to main. No apology from staff. They came to double check our order after 20 minutes or so from when we got starters. The plates were not hot. The cod was middling temperature and the "roast potatoes" were clearly boiled and sitting around in some heating pot but they were not roasted. It was a pity because it was good quality fish. The salmon dish was fine. Overall disappointed in lack of apology and acknowledgement of the long wait time. Thanks Amy

03/06/2025: Stayed 2 nights here, we were a party of 16 for my mum's 80th birthday, the hotel was superb very clean and comfortable, the staff were amazing, we ate 2 nights in the hotel because the food was excellent, we also had breakfast which again was excellent, I would highly recommend this hotel can't wait to go back 😁😁

25/10/2024: Excellent meal & excellent service. I ordered a rare steak & wow I’m a steak lover but this was exceptional. Salad, baby potatoes, sautéed onions along with a glass of Merlot. I don’t often eat alone but was made to feel very welcome & comfortable. Unable to finish meal but have lunch sorted for tomorrow! Top class, thank you to the chef Gregory and waiting staff. A special thanks to Silvane, she has the X factor!

21/10/2024: This was an unbelievably very good restaurant. Heading into winter on the West Coast of Ireland, the food, the service, and the atmosphere including the playlist was simply sublime. I’m not being paid to write this review, but it was probably one of the best meals I have eaten out in a very long time. Everything tasted fresh and full of flavour; from the steak to the asparagus to the potatoes, bread and peppercorn sauce I don’t think I have tasted better.

22/06/2025: We stopped for a late lunch and enjoyed the delicious onion and sage soup of the day which reminded me of a French onion soup. My husband had the very fresh oysters. Great meal and friendly service.

17/07/2025: Family celebration of 19 from around the world coming back to our roots. Staff handled it superbly, food great and large portions. Very enjoyable afternoon. Well done!

06/07/2025: Had Sunday lunch there today the food and service was excellent.I had the salmon and cod it was so good cooked to perfection and very good portions size .

27/06/2025: I stopped in after seeing all the road signs, and it was one of the few places open that was not fast food. The burger didn’t taste like a burger, nor did it look like a burger. The best thing about the burger were the onion rings that came on it. The fries tasted as if they had come out of the freezer with no flavor and were “hard” on the inside. A fast food burger and fries would have been more tasty and a lot cheaper. The goat cheese tart was average. Overall, a disappointing meal. The restaurant was empty save for a couple of couples getting drinks. Perhaps the atmosphere would be more lively with more people, but it was dead. The server was kind and checked in on me. I would not go back for food; perhaps on a night with music and socializing I would go for entertainment.

20/06/2025: We have been to the Rambling House now several times, always excellent. We also have had a large family gathering just last week and everything was delicious from start to finish with Brilliant service.. So good to have somewhere so good to go on our doorstep. 03/06/2025: I only went to the bar, and it was really okay. Super friendly service and nice conversations with the guests. A meeting place for locals, very pleasant.

22/06/2025: We stayed overnight and enjoyed it. The rooms are extremely modern had everything we needed. It felt very luxurious. The staff is extremely kind and we're very helpful. The food was really good too. Being above the bar I was worried that I wouldn't be able to sleep from all the noise but we honestly didn't hear a thing. And they had live music that night as well! I would 💯 stay again.

18/06/2025: Lovely clean room with beautiful view, the staff were friendly and the cost was very reasonable.

27/06/2025: Bloody brilliant food, had the frittata, but honestly that salad was one of the best I've ever had! Empty plates and full bellies!
