The best restaurants in Donegal

25/10/2024: Excellent meal & excellent service. I ordered a rare steak & wow I’m a steak lover but this was exceptional. Salad, baby potatoes, sautéed onions along with a glass of Merlot. I don’t often eat alone but was made to feel very welcome & comfortable. Unable to finish meal but have lunch sorted for tomorrow! Top class, thank you to the chef Gregory and waiting staff. A special thanks to Silvane, she has the X factor!

21/10/2024: This was an unbelievably very good restaurant. Heading into winter on the West Coast of Ireland, the food, the service, and the atmosphere including the playlist was simply sublime. I’m not being paid to write this review, but it was probably one of the best meals I have eaten out in a very long time. Everything tasted fresh and full of flavour; from the steak to the asparagus to the potatoes, bread and peppercorn sauce I don’t think I have tasted better.

06/05/2025: I had a wonderful lunch today at Chapter Twenty at the Mill Park Hotel. I started with a pint of Guinness, the lunch special was roasted leg of lamb with mashed potatoes and roasted vegetables. Absolutely delicious!! I normally don’t get dessert, but I was tempted by the Baileys cheesecake. It was served with the dip of vanilla ice cream, whipped cream and strawberries. It was wonderful! I ended the meal with a Baileys coffee which was made perfectly. The food was fantastic, the service was impeccable! I definitely recommend this restaurant with five stars!

15/07/2025: Hello. We’d like to share our disappointing experience at your café. We approached a staff member (not sure if they were a cashier or a waiter) to ask about the price of the tiramisu. Unfortunately, they didn’t know and just ran off saying “one moment” — we ended up waiting for about three minutes while they were gone. Eventually, they came back and told us it was €3 for a portion of tiramisu served in a plastic container, around 200 grams. Sadly, the dessert was very disappointing: it was hard in texture, had an overpowering smell of alcohol, and the taste was unpleasant — we couldn’t finish it and had to throw it away. Moreover, no one told us if we were allowed to sit anywhere, so we ended up eating on a worn-out bench in the shopping centre. We also had to ask for spoons separately. Overall, there was no proper service and the quality of the food was extremely poor.

01/08/2025: I was a little early getting to the hotel and I asked the one receptionist about when I could check in. She said 3 o’clock bluntly, offering no more information. At 2:30 I noticed other people were checking in so I went to the other receptionist she started to check me in, when I booked there were no rooms with views available. I asked about a room with a view of course I had to pay more for that which was fine. The receptionist was very impatient. I asked to see the room. She went running down the hallway as if I was to keep up. I said I had a sore leg, but that didn’t slow her down. She still had to wait for me to catch up. She showed me a room at the back with the view of the garden. I asked again about a room with a sea view. She hurriedly showed me a room with the sea view, which I accepted. Back at the reception desk she seemed scattered trying to change my rooms. I said I don’t like a duvet I’d like three sheets as they don’t have blankets. She was confused. She phoned housekeeping and said the gentleman would like another sheet!!! I gave up talking to her and had to find housekeeping and talk to them myself, they helped me immediately with no problem. The hotel is on a hill overlooking a beautiful bay, and I had a nice view of that. for some reason, my hotel room was unbearably warm so I had a terrible sleep. The restaurant was nice and they had a good breakfast included.

23/11/2024: The reason it got 4 stars is the premise was cold on arrival at 6pm ( it doesn’t open at 17:30 as stated on trip adviser ) I had the Chicken supreme and better half had the fish and chips. Have to say very tasty. We were served by Anastasia who was very polite, moving us to a warmer position etc. I recommend Nivana, but leave to a bit later if weather is cold

27/06/2025: I stopped in after seeing all the road signs, and it was one of the few places open that was not fast food. The burger didn’t taste like a burger, nor did it look like a burger. The best thing about the burger were the onion rings that came on it. The fries tasted as if they had come out of the freezer with no flavor and were “hard” on the inside. A fast food burger and fries would have been more tasty and a lot cheaper. The goat cheese tart was average. Overall, a disappointing meal. The restaurant was empty save for a couple of couples getting drinks. Perhaps the atmosphere would be more lively with more people, but it was dead. The server was kind and checked in on me. I would not go back for food; perhaps on a night with music and socializing I would go for entertainment.

17/07/2025: Family celebration of 19 from around the world coming back to our roots. Staff handled it superbly, food great and large portions. Very enjoyable afternoon. Well done!

15/08/2025: Hell of a good place. Reasonable prices, the kindest staff, and great food. You NEED to try their cookie dough croissants: gooey, runny, sweet and crispy. Hands down 5 stars.

21/08/2025: We were here and had the chicken bacon and leek, which tasted okay, with a side of vegetables that were completely unseasoned. The Cajun chicken was also unseasoned, and the garlic potatoes were garlic-free 😢. Coleslaw wasn't good either, and was full of mayo 😢. Either someone is trying to relive the past, or the real chef was on vacation 🤷🏻‍♂️.
