28/09/2025: We were staying at the hotel next door so ate here for a change. It was fabulous! The waiting staff were so friendly and helpful. The food is excellent, well cooked, interesting flavours and good portions. The view over the Lough was stunning. I would highly recommend this lovely bistro for a relaxed meal in a gorgeous setting.

10/09/2025: I stayed at The Downings Bay Hotel 2 weeks ago and really enjoyed every aspect of my stay. The restaurant was delicious. The room was perfect. Joe the night porter was a great person to chat with in the evening at the bar after a long day. I hope I can return in the future and experience this family run hotel again.

08/09/2025: Glorious location with a fabulous hotel. We had scones & coffee on a lovely sunny morning passing through Downings on our 🚲 🚴‍♀️ 🚵‍♂️. Sarah, Joan and all the team looked after our large group wonderfully and we look forward to returning! Great spot.

30/09/2025: We are visiting Letterkenny, from Tipperary. Yes, it's a long way but eating at Luca's is nearly worth walking from Tipperary. We were just going to have pizza, cooked perfectly in a massive wood fired oven but the flavoursome, extensive menu tempted us elsewhere. Pick any item on their menu and you will not be disappointed. Serving staff excellent. Food quality excellent. I also note a spirits and cocktail bar. We booked a table for two and from 1830 the area filled up quickly. Well done to ALL staff, front of house and in the kitchens.

27/06/2025: I stopped in after seeing all the road signs, and it was one of the few places open that was not fast food. The burger didn’t taste like a burger, nor did it look like a burger. The best thing about the burger were the onion rings that came on it. The fries tasted as if they had come out of the freezer with no flavor and were “hard” on the inside. A fast food burger and fries would have been more tasty and a lot cheaper. The goat cheese tart was average. Overall, a disappointing meal. The restaurant was empty save for a couple of couples getting drinks. Perhaps the atmosphere would be more lively with more people, but it was dead. The server was kind and checked in on me. I would not go back for food; perhaps on a night with music and socializing I would go for entertainment.
