03/04/2025: Dined here on "Mothers Day" which is usually a challenging day for restaurants but you couldn't say it had any impact on the service we received. The staff could not have been friendlier or more helpful. we were promptly seated on arrival, there was no delay in getting menus, ordering etc. we had some kids and adults in our party and Lauren and the rest of the staff were so patient and attentive they made us feel as though we were the only table in the restaurant (we absolutely were not the only table, it was really really busy). Main courses were fantastic, kids food (with individually spec'd bugers!!) was spot on, the beef main course was incredible (and the kids half roast was monstrous and every bit as good as the adults!!). We were dining late in the day and while they were trying to wind down the day (I think they had closed the doors by the time we ordered dessert) they remained as attentive and helpful as ever. at no stage did we feel like we had overstayed and we left very much in our own time. a beautiful setting to boot but the champions here were the food and the service. couldn't recommend this highly enough, will certainly be back!!

17/03/2025: A luxury authentic old world hotel with superb personalised service! Reminds me of the Ritz's, I visited 20 years ago which had a similar feel with the quality of service. Rooms, views, gardens, food, classical piano at dinner and further musical entertainment in bar after dinner. In a world where hotels are more efficient than personal, this hotel stands alone. From the lovely lady in reception to service staff, the experience is warm, inviting and genuine. The rooms are not your typical instead lots of character and spotlessly clean. One feels really taken care of and this is due to the attentive owners who are present everywhere. This is so rare and it ripples throughout to the happy staff. Thank you Brian and Abbeyglen staff for a beautiful fun experience. We will be back soon!

02/03/2025: Very deceiving from the outside, a really huge and most interesting pub (even found a wise man and a shepherd from a large crib of some Christmas past. Friendly and efficient service, and a sandwich that combines onion and banana (yes I did). Great spot.

26/03/2025: I had dinner at O'Grady's on the Pier, and it was absolutely fantastic. Three courses – all truly delicious and freshly prepared. The service was incredibly friendly, attentive, and authentic. Plus, the amazing view of the sea was simply breathtaking. It was the perfect place to end the day in a relaxed manner. I'll definitely be back!

13/04/2025: Excellent welcome, a waitress spoke French and all the staff were very helpful. Top food we tried the soup, the beef burger, the fish and chips and the apple pie, very fresh.

13/04/2025: Small chowder portions - not enough especially after a hike but tasty nonetheless. The atmosphere and the whole look of the restaurant is however nice and warm.

05/04/2025: Very beautiful building, impeccably preserved with beautiful gardens and a magnificent view of the lake. It inspires tranquility and relaxation.

04/04/2025: The staff were very friendly and helpful. It is beautiful from the walk up. The gardens are neat to visit, and you can choose to walk there and enjoy a waterfall en route or take a shuttle. The gardens were the highlight as you can visit the houses and experience how it would have been used in times past to grow food for the estate and entertain guests. The abbey itself was fine. It is new construction (fire) and you are limited to the first floor. They did an okay job with the restoration but it was obviously not a match for the photos they had listed in the spaces. Not getting the chance to go upstairs was a disappointment, so it felt like too far of a drive from Galway to make it worth the time. The short version is, it was a great drive with beautiful views, the photo of the abbey across the lake is neat, the gardens are neat, but absent those things we agreed it was not worth the hours of our vacation to visit.
