Moran's Oyster Cottage
13/06/2025: One of our best meals in Ireland. Do the Oysters - even if you don’t typically like oysters. Daily catch was fantastic as was the fish and chips. Team at Moran’s even had a vegan curry option for a member in our party which was delicious. Honestly though, the best thing on the menu might be the chowder. We visited Moran’s on the way back to Galway from exploring the Burren and Cliffs of Moher. If you’re not there early (17:00) on a weekday, best to book in advance.

20/06/2025: Great stay in a historic location. Our room was comfortable. Staff was friendly and welcoming. The owner has a nightly welcome event in the on-site pub where he details the history of the castle. He is a convivial host and he take pictures of the guests which he presents as keepsakes at dinner. Very enjoyable.
The owner is a friendly guy; however, it felt like his friendliness was more performative with us than others, which took some of the fun out of it for me. I guess we were too old and not pretty enough to be fascinating like the younger group of Canadians he seemed to fixate on.

02/05/2025: 2 salads bought, ingredients fresh and tasty, complimented by some lovely fresh brown bread! Service on point, very busy but all well handled… now understand why there was a queue, will be returning on any future visit and would highly recommend!

15/06/2025: My teenage daughters and I had one of the best meals in a long time for lunch. Their hake mornay was melt in the mouth. Garlic cheese bread according to a fussy teenager was " the best she ever tasted". We were welcomed by a lovely hospitable man who was genuinely interested in welcoming us. Service was excellent and pleasant. I hope to return here sometime soon again.
14/06/2025: Everything was absolutely perfect. The restaurant owner was very friendly and spoke French. You can feel the attention to detail and perfection in every dish. It was one of the best restaurants of our stay. We highly recommend it.

25/05/2025: Really poor food, frozen breaded mushrooms, frozen "spicy" chicken wings. Went on good recommendations. Wouldn't recommend for those foods in particular can't speak about the rest on offer. Waitress was really nice

06/06/2025: This is a great restaurant in the pretty town of Clifden (a word of advice: make a reservation!). The decor is chic and welcoming.
A menu that emphasizes seafood, but we also enjoyed some very good Irish meat, accompanied by a delicious whisky sauce, of course.
Not to mention a great wine list from Europe, South America, New Zealand, and more.

11/06/2025: The tables were a little small and I kept banging my shins on the miniature table we were allocated. Te lasagne was tasty but the chips were from frozen I think, which was disappointing. Friendly staff but the place needs a little updating inside.

Mitchell's Cafe, menu
06/07/2025: Very few rooms to visit in the main residence, so it doesn't offer a generous glimpse into the family's life in this house at the time.
The church is under renovation, but the main open area was magnificent to visit.
The botanical garden is good, but a few more interpretive panels would have been interesting to see life in the past and the use of this garden.
The shop is very good, and there's a small restaurant in the garden and at the entrance as well.
06/07/2025: The gardens are stunning and the Abbey is even more picturesque than the what you see in photos.
