Lignum
10/11/2025: *Wonderful experience from start to finish*.
The beautiful wood fires and the gorgeous setting make this a very unique dining experience. Would highly recommend. We had the lunch tasting menu and for 75 euro, we all thought it was very good value for the high-quality ingredients and craft involved in each dish, as well as the service. I've been lucky enough to dine in quite a few Michelin restaurants but there was something very special about Lignum - perhaps it was all the local elements and unique setting!
Some very small negatives were the lack of any cocktail options on the drink menu and the high price for many of the wines on the menu. Also it would have been very nice to get a menu at the end to recap on the wonderful dishes served and the various elements on each plate. Sometimes it was hard to catch each bit!
02/11/2025: The 16-course tasting menu at Lignum is one of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had. A beautiful stone building with wood-burning stoves, soft lighting, and earthy décor sets the tone. The menu is provided at the end so you can fully immerse yourself in the flavours of each dish. Service was excellent, and the food was exceptional. I’m already looking forward to returning.

Tibhurca, Clonbur
25/10/2025: A traditional pub with live music and excellent food. Great for families with children.
19/10/2025: Really lovely country pub. Visited with the Irish Subaru Drivers Club as a final stop in our Doolough valley run.
The food was immensely tasty, and there's a huge amount of room in the back for dining, as well as a huge terrace overlooking the beautiful scenery as a smoking area.
I got roast lamb and spuds, and it was absolutely beautiful.
Well worth the spin.

Powers Thatch Bar & Restaurant
Oughterard
20/10/2025: We had a truly memorable evening at Powers Bar in Oughterard! The atmosphere was cosy and welcoming, but what really stood out was the delicious dinner and top-notch service.
The menu showcases the best of local produce, and the highlight for us was the fresh local fish, cooked to perfection. You can really taste the quality — it’s clear they take pride in supporting local suppliers. The seafood was beautifully presented, full of flavour, and generously portioned.
The service was friendly, attentive, and genuinely warm — the kind of Irish hospitality that makes you feel right at home. Staff were happy to share recommendations and made sure everything was just right throughout the evening.
If you're in Oughterard and looking for a great meal in a relaxed, traditional pub setting, Powers is an absolute must. We'll definitely be back!
17/10/2025: Great buzz and great place for grub or a pint. 👏 brilliant 👏 👌

Glynn's Bar
Oranmore
01/11/2025: We spent the evening at Glynn’s Bar and it was absolutely amazing! The atmosphere was electric — live music by an intergenerational band playing blues and rock, great vibes all around. A lovely woman introduced us to her husband, one of the musicians, and their son — we ended up chatting about politics and society and discovered the warmth and pride of the Irish people. We even danced! The place itself is full of character, with several rooms and bars connected together. It also links directly to Urban Fire Pizzeria, where we enjoyed a delicious hot veggie pizza with jalapeños. An unforgettable evening with my wife — highly recommended! 🍀🎶🍺🍕
14/10/2025: It's a lot bigger than it looks. Lots of nooks and crannies.

Peggy's Bar & Restaurant
14/10/2025: Went to this restaurant on the recommendation of our B&B hosts and was genuinely very pleased to have eaten there. We had two servers, Eve and one other I didn't get the name of, who were both lovely and very welcoming. The food far exceeded my expectations, I had the lamb shank with a side of garlic bread and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. While it's not inexpensive I think it's well worth the cost. My only regret is that I don't have room for a desert. The atmosphere and physical characteristics of the restraunt were also quite pleasing. A great spot whether your going solo or with friends/family!
14/10/2025: Lovely restaurant and bar in the middle of almost no where. They have daily specials...just don't wait long because they serve dinner only until about half seven. Staff are very friendly and welcoming and the food was great.

Mitchell's Cafe, menu
04/11/2025: One of the most stunning places we visited on our 1000+ mile Irish road trip. The story of this place is part of what makes it special so I'd encourage enought time for that. But the grounds are enormous. They have walking paths, gardens, and so so much to explore. We spent 4 hours here. The gift shop is one of the better ones, it carries hand crafted items from the Nuns. The restaurant is cafeteria style, but honestly, some of the better food we had on our trip. The landscape on your way here is also breathtaking. We saw the Fjords on our way north. One of our must sees for sure.
02/11/2025: A very pretty place to visit with the family. The parking is easily accessible and well-organized. A lovely stop on our Connemara lakes road trip.

Wild Beans
Kinvara
28/09/2025: Stopped here while exploring the area. At this time, we had been in Ireland for 10 days. Sadly, the woman that helped us wad the first and only rude person we encountered while in Ireland. Such a disappointment.
23/09/2025: Beautiful, small Cafe and friendly people. The coffee here tasted great. Triple cheese toasties were already pre-made, but delicious. Free tap water. Nice art gallery.
