20/05/2026: Beautiful hotel heaven on earth

18/05/2026: Stayed in the Rose Hotel on a Saturday night recently and from the moment at checkin we felt so welcome and at ease. I tour Ireland for a living and I thought the staff on reception, in the bar for dinner and at breakfast we so seasoned and professional it was impressive. At reception, from the warm welcome to assisting us with some items we'd forgotten, they were a great help. In the bar for food, they had GF options for our child and when one of us had to leave briefly, our food was kept warm (without asking) and their attention to us, engagement with our kids and prompt service really made it a great experience. At breakfast, we got a warm welcome, prompt service and the seperate GF buffet had our child beaming. Can't compliment the staff enough, a great mix of experience and new staff. Clearly comes from the top down. This level of hospitality is what Kerry is renowned for. Room also very comfortable. Highly recommend.

12/06/2026: We ate Valentia Harbour Chowder (a very delicious fish soup) and Pan Fried Salmon. We were satisfied. The place is small and has an open kitchen, so the inside of the restaurant smells a bit like frying. That's the only disadvantage.

13/06/2026: Walked into this restaurant without a reservation and we were seated promptly! The service was great and our server, Angie, was super sweet. For our meal, we ordered the spring rolls and the Pad Thai. The spring rolls were absolutely delicious! However, the Pad Thai was a bit too sweet for our taste, and we’ve definitely had better elsewhere. That being said, the excellent service made it a wonderful experience overall!

11/06/2026: Very flavorful food! I was in love with the food. The service was amazing, I recommend making reservations in advance as it got very busy as the evening went on. I loved the garlic chicken. The fried garlic on top was such a great touch.

03/06/2026: Very nice, really enjoyed most of the food. One item was not to my linking but tbf had dill in in n I don’t like that. Scallops, fish n chips were to die for.

02/06/2026: Fantastic meal with the family this evening, served by an absolute gent, thanks Rory! Food was excellent, really hard to find fault with anything. Desert was beautiful, great strawberry cheesecake and waffles. Highly recommend.

05/06/2026: Epic pub w cracking pints, proper local spot

10/04/2026: This is by far the best pint of Guinness in Killarney. You could not ask for a better pub than Jack C's. From the multi-generation owner/bartender to the local crowd that frequent it, you're in luck if you can find a spot at the bar to chat with the crowd before a trad session breaks out.

24/05/2026: The atmosphere is very authentic, and the service is lovely. However, I'd only give the food 3 out of 5 stars because I didn't find the portion size justified by the price. Otherwise, it's a highly recommended stop on the way to the Black Valley.

22/05/2026: My husband and I biked through the Gap of Dunloe before stopping here for lunch last week. We happened to arrive right around the same time as many students on an end of school year trip. The staff handled the huge influx of customers efficiently. It was impressive. The soup I had was one of the best soups I've ever eaten. Thanks to everyone at Kate Kearney's Cottage!

29/05/2026: There’s a free art tour given at 5pm which was incredible - Jonathan’s knowledge was very impressive and just an all round great bloke. Would’ve given a hefty tip if we had any cash! Followed by a few of the best cocktails I’ve ever had in my life - the 1958. Tastes like a spicy marg, looks like a martini. Stunning hotel and the staff were all class, we’d definitely come to stay next time.

21/05/2026: The hotel is a wonderful place, historic. The food they offer is really good. So far the good things. I asked for a room with sea view and got the information that it will have view. Well. See a picture from my window. I didn't mean that! The rooms are expectable old. Nothing to complain here. But there is no sound isolation. We were able to here everything from the next room. TV, water tap, shower, toilet. Regarding the service. There were three women in service two younger ones, who walk through the restaurant looking to the ground, barely seeing guests contact wishes for drinks or coffee in the morning. The 3rd women, a stronger one, was amazing. She definitely loves her job. It was fun talking with her and getting her recommendations for the order was Gold. Sorry for this review.

14/05/2026: We stayed two nights as a family. The hotel is superb, retaining its original charm, with very large, comfortable, and clean rooms. The restaurant is the only one open and offers good quality food. The staff is friendly. We highly recommend it.

30/12/2025: Was ignored by staff when we went into their restaurant. Seated ourselves after being ignored after waiting for a few minutes for a table. Think everyone was local and got the impression we weren’t welcome by staff. Took a few minutes for someone to acknowledge us and bring a menu despite 3 staff members being there with a half empty restaurant. Once we finished food (19 euro for a burger with a soggy bun that was straight out of the packet and cold lettuce, raw onion and slice of tomato) we went to the bar to pay the bill. There was a bartender (dark curly hair with facial hair- he was the primary staff member that seemed to completely ignore us when we were just trying to give you some business) who was folding cutlery into napkins who we waited for him to acknowledge us but he didn’t so after an awkward minute of standing there we asked him could we pay the bill he said “I’ll be with you in a second”. He went to give the cutlery to a table and then walked off- his colleague came through by chance and took payment. Very strange atmosphere due to staff. Ate and left promptly.

24/05/2026: A must while in Tralee. A great bar steeped in sporting history (from the ceiling to the floor). Great staff especially Pat the barman. Great craic, great food and a great pint of Guinness. Five stars all round🍻
