Abbey Tavern, Quin, Co Clare
Quin
03/11/2024: The staff were overall pretty good, however, when I returned the steak I was basically told I was a liar.
I eat out a lot and normally I don't have to complain, but that attitude is just rude.
The steak was full of sinue, over fatty. Now I understand sometimes steak can be a little tough, but the steak was rough. I paid the bill and left.
Theres plenty of better pubs to eat in, don't bother with the Cock Tavern Swords.

Trumps Bar
03/11/2024: We visited apparently on the last weekday they would be open for the year, and weekday service will continue in January. We got lucky! As you arrive at the Trump International Golf Resort you are warmly received by a finely dressed gentleman at the gate house. He called ahead and announced our arrival for lunch, gave us directions, instructed us where to park. The staff of the bar and restaurant were waiting for us, menus in hand. They were preparing for Halloween and there were lovely arrangements of pumpkins. We were seated at a corner table that had two windows on each side that allowed for a wonderful view of the ocean, beach and a part of the golf course.
Started the lunch with drinks, the men had Guinness, and I had what I considered the best Bloody Mary made from fresh ingredients and not a mix. I chose the Salt and Chili calamari, which was on a salad/slaw which was tangy delicious. My husband had the shrimp tacos. Being from Texas we are usually very skeptical of any taco in another country, but this did not disappoint. I stole a few bites, as well as a few of the most perfect French fries which were crispy goodness.
The staff were absolutely perfect, the ambiance was elevated Irish pub with a seaside twist. I am very glad we took the chance and drove the hour from the Shannon Airport area.
After lunch we strolled the beautiful beach! We had the beach to ourselves which was extra special. From the beach as you look out at the water you can see the Cliffs of Moher. If you had all day, you could visit the cliffs and the Trump Bar & Restaurant.
Next time we visit, I would like to spend a night or two at the resort. But for a daytime visit you really cannot ask for anything more!
24/08/2024: Popped in for a drink as we were staying nearby. Beautiful setting, nice bar/restaurant area. Lovely staff, friendly & very efficient.

Ennis Gourmet Store
Ennis
26/02/2025: Lovely spot for lunch in Ennis. Lovely French/Irish ambiance & lots of interesting wine & food available to browse and buy. We had divine soup, salad & sandwich - really tasty, generous & fairly priced. Delicious.
12/01/2025: Bit of a gamble here really, we’ve eaten here three times, first two were very good with the female owner and one French waiter in charge.
Third time there was another French waiter and different lady, French onion soup was watered down, two other dishes bore no resemblance to the description on the menu.
It’s a nice spot, a bit different from the usual but I now feel I’ll be chancing it every time we visit as there’s no consistency.

Fanny O'Deas
01/09/2024: Attended as a party of 4, and sat outside.
No cutlery, starters arrived, no cutlery, asked and asked,
One main arrived when we hadn’t finished the starters, starters were at the table circa 7 mins at this time.
One main, with no cutlery again, had to go in to get this myself.
Two more mains arrived 10 minutes later, no cutlery; asked again.
5 minutes later, the last main arrived.
3 mains were cold, especially the one arriving on its own, along with two more. The last main was piping hot.
Ordered dessert, 10 minutes after, were told one of the items was out of stock, cancelled and got the hell out of there.
I have relatives that have visited many a time, but my first experience of here, I’m willing to give it a second go, based on the fact it was a busy weekend.
But just because you are seated outside, doesn’t mean you should be forgotten about, you equally as important to those inside.
11/08/2024: Great atmosphere, good food and very pleasant waiting staff. Take away options available also. Rustic pub feel or bright and airy function room for larger gatherings.

The Dolphin

13/02/2025: Visited this gem of a cafe for the first time today, and we will definitely be back. The staff were lovely, and really accommodating, moving tables so that our family group could sit together and interacting brilliantly with the children. Food was reasonably priced and absolutely delicious, with generous portions. Two people had 'The Whole Hog' breakfast, which was ENORMOUS and cooked to perfection. The rest of us had gorgeous bagels, and a special plate of toast appeared to keep the toddler happy. Locally sourced bacon and puddings were excellent. We left full and happy, and hope to be back soon!

Brendan O'Regan Room
Ennis
01/03/2025: The food was absolutely fantastic. We could not fault the menu. It catered for everyone. The service was unbelievable. The girls were really friendly and helpful. Rachel made sure that we were looked after from the minute that we came in. I would definitely recommend booking in here if you are staying here or even if you are in Ennis for a night.

Seasons Restaurant
Mountshannon
09/08/2024: Not very welcoming once we mentioned we had a dog, not all dog owners are irresponsible. We quickly moved onto Portumna where they are far more accommodating in pubs and restaurants.
