07/12/2024: The shredded chicken is very tasty and crispy! The king prawn toast is also super delicious! So yummy and crispy! Definitely will come back!

26/11/2024: Absolutely filthy premises. From entrance door on the ground floor, up the stairs and in the large room where you must stand to wait for your order. A curtain is used to hide the kitchen from the customers. This is filthy and when it was pulled back I could clearly see upright glass door and full door fridges which all had items of clothing or other non food or kitchen related items in top of them. I didn't once see the lady who took my order wash her hands after handling notes and coins. Hand washing should be a priority and it should be visible to Joe and Josephine public to witness, in order to put our minds at rest. In my dish I found the nib of a biro (pen). I telephoned to inform them and was offered another meal. I have never returned and I never will.

18/10/2024: This place is gods gift to Macroom. Pizzas are the best I ever had and I lived in Italy for 3 years.

19/07/2025: The food is nice in here, but there seems to be prices missing from menu boards. This puts me off ordering in places, sovI don't go here as much as I'd like to. If they had menus with prices I would try here again.

08/06/2025: This place has to be one of the best cafés I've ever been in. The food tastes amazing same goes with the drinks. The service is good but sometimes it gets busy but the workers don't give up and try harder. The atmosphere is amazing. Throughout the whole day the staff is being kind and respectful.

24/06/2025: We were absolutely starving , ordered 2 kebabs and chips, Kebab consisted of some sort of reconstituted kebab meat with a chopped up lettuce leaf .Couldnt eat it and went elsewhere to get a real kebab. The place itself is an absolute dive . Avoid .

04/09/2024: From the journey over to Heir on the 2pm ferry - €6 return (no charge for those with a travel pass) to the return journey at 4pm we just had a fab time. The lovely weather was a welcome addition to the experience. There is an inclined 10-15 min walk up from the pier to Island Cottage where we were greeted by Ellmary. The menu is no choice and I mean No choice. There is no wine list, however a very nice French red & white wine are available to diners. We sat at a communal dining table with some lovely people. The food is wonderful: medium-rare steak with a buttery mash on a red pepper jus (I could be wrong on this but it was lovely) followed by the lightest of lemon soufflé, Tea/Coffee with home made biscuits finished up the experience. We never actually caught sight of John the chef, as we left to catch the 4pm ferry - however we could hear the industry & smell the aromas eminating from the kitchen. Well done to you both. I look forward to returning.

28/07/2024: An amazing intimate restaurant experience. No menu choice. It is what it is and that’s that. Starter, mains and desert service with tea or coffee for €25! Wine available by the glass or bottle. We sat at a table of 8 and got to have cross table conversations with two lovely ladies and an actor and his Kazakstan partner. The setting was intimate and we got a sneak peek into the tiny kitchen with the husband cheffing. The steak and mash on a lovely sauce followed by a soufflé that melted in your mouth. The others at the table missed their ferry boat back and so we gave them a jaunt back .. So if you want an experience and to meet some fab people and have some lovely food try and book at table . Booking open 10am Tuesdays !

22/10/2023: Best chipper around! Food cooked to perfection. The staff are always very friendly and polite and very fast service. I would definitely recommend LJ's 100%.

23/07/2023: This shop is DISGRACEFUL!!!! My nan who’s 90 year old with dementia came in here for a lovely battered sausage and coke but she left with her sausage battered. I have informed the guards and this poor family business is going to be a subject of a robbery next Friday night. Be aware then I will be wearing all black.
