The best restaurants in Cork

20/08/2025: I had a coffee, and saw what was called a Portuguese custard tart....pastel de nata.. which I must say was horrible. It was dry, no lemon zest taste and absolutely no cinnamon won't be back

10/08/2025: Overall it's a nice cafe with good potential and very comfortable seating options. The cappuccino was good and the overall atmosphere was nice. My biggest criticism is the place was freezing cold as they leave the door open even on cold mornings which is ridiculous. The place looked good in terms of cleanliness except some of the tables needed a deeper clean. Staff were friendly and professional enough. Would I return?......yes, if they closed the door and turned on the heating.

24/04/2026: Well now, where will I start, maybe the Korean BBQ wings, the only thing Korean about it was the word on the menu that spelled"Korean" the wedges with Swiss cheese were an experience I'm happy to forget, the best thing about it was the exit door, I'll go around the corner to oakfire its mediocre but definitely better, the girls behind the counter look tired and fed up,

28/12/2025: These pizzas are seriously good. It’s real pizza dough, not that cardboard stuff. The flavours are delicious, I can highly recommend them.

24/03/2026: The worst Chinese I’ve ever had in my life. Lack of flavour, chicken was rubbery, sauces tasted burned and almost like plastic, very oily. I felt terrible after, nothing was fresh. My whole family didn’t enjoy it.

14/09/2025: Went recently with my family for breakfast and it was great. the food was superb and affordable, the coffee some of the best ive had in mallow and the staff were all very kind. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a breakfast in mallow.

27/12/2025: Nice, buzzy spot. One of the few, if not the only, places open in town over the Christmas weekend. Service was good and the girls were attentive, but with Soma coffee I had high expectations, the flat white may as well have been a milky americano. Unfortunate for Soma coffee.

22/04/2026: Jack was very accommodating at first however the woman at front of bar was quite rude didn’t let us split the bill and was very rude at the end after service

01/04/2026: Jack’s Bar & Restaurant occupies a prominent spot in Glengarriff, physically connected to the Louch Aouvl Inn next door. While the aesthetic and the menu promise a classic West Cork dining experience, the reality of the visit was overshadowed by a breakdown in hospitality and service flow. The experience begins before you even set foot inside. While browsing the street-side menu—a standard practice for any in a scenic village—the manager essentially accosts potential diners. The pitch is aggressive, promising fresh fish or "anything you want made to order" to lure people in. While proactive marketing is one thing, this felt less like an invitation and more like a high-pressure tactic. This intensity doesn’t let up once you’re seated; the manager remains stationed near the door for the duration of the meal, eyes fixed on the pavement, waiting to pounce on the next passerby who pauses to look at the menu. Unfortunately, this focus on "the next customer" seems to come at the expense of those already seated. Once we were inside, the service was consistently poor. There was a distinct lack of attentiveness and coordination, leading to a frustratingly sluggish experience. It is clear that the staff are more concerned with the intake of new patrons than the satisfaction of the ones currently dining. The greatest tragedy of the visit is that the food itself is actually quite good. The kitchen is clearly capable, delivering dishes that meet the expectations of fresh, local Irish fare. However, even the best meal is difficult to enjoy when the atmosphere feels transactional and the service is neglectful. A restaurant cannot survive on the quality of its kitchen alone if the "front of house" experience leaves guests feeling like a secondary priority. For Jack’s Bar & Restaurant to reach its potential, major customer experience and service improvements are required. The management needs to shift focus from aggressive street-side recruitment to genuine table-side hospitality. Until the service matches the quality of the food, it is difficult to recommend this establishment over the many other welcoming options in Glengarriff. There is a fine line between being a dedicated host and being a sentry, and currently, Jack’s is on the wrong side of it.

24/03/2026: They have an extensive menu, but we ordered pizza. It was wonderful! The crust was very crisp but chewy, and the sauce was very light and flavorful, with not too much acidity. The food came quickly and the service there was very attentive.

14/02/2026: Currently waiting over 2.5 hours for a delivery. Tried ringing many many times and getting no answer. Absolute joke i will not be getting food from here again

16/05/2026: Soo bad, avoid this place. 2 fish fillets glued together with batter, came out all stodgey couldn't eat any of it. 2 fish and chips, chicken strips and 2 dips, €45 shocking.....oh and everyone in the queue was so annoyed things were going so slow

08/12/2025: Horrendous service. My friend payed separately from me as she was there first. She was waiting 20 minutes for her coffee as they said they would drop it down, but never did, she had to go ask for it. I arrived, paid for it, was told they would drop it down, never arrived, I had to ask for it 20 mins later and waitress told me we only had bought one coffee at the table! Upset over the incident and I note the manager never apologies,

06/11/2025: My daughter and I went into this café at 2:55 pm for a coffee and a pastry. I paid €11, and when the coffees arrived, the waiter told us they close at 3:00 pm. I don't think it's right that they don't warn you that they close in 5 minutes.

01/05/2026: First time trying Donatellos and would highly recommend it. The pizzas were cooked perfectly, looked great, tasted fantastic and were reasonably priced. Would certainly have no hesitation from ordering from here again.

Supermac's delivered exactly what we needed to get back on the road. Quick access from the main route, decent food, and fast service. Just what you need when you're heading home.

03/05/2026: Sensational food, brilliant service. A life saver at 1am in the morning. Perfectly cooked rice, succulent chicken balls, 4 in 1s out of this world. I cannot rate this place high enough. Staff brilliant and full of care.

12/04/2026: It has been over a year now since we went here. I've been to most of Asia and the food here isn't very authentic. The quality of the meat wasn't good either in the dishes we both had. I left a lot of my meal. I can't see us going back unless quality of food here improves massively.

15/03/2026: I loved the food, it's very good. I ordered both the Asian food and the pizza menu 🦋. The waitress was super friendly, excellent atmosphere, I highly recommend it.
