13/06/2025: Lovely dinner - especially the green curry, linguine and Tartufo desert

10/06/2025: Went here for lunch Sunday with my two children. Tried the carvery which I have to say was very nice. My children ordered Goujons and Chips from the Kids menu. In fairness their portion size was good but they did not like the Goujons themselves. I tried a piece of one and I found it to be a little tasteless. On a positive note the waitress who served us was lovely and great talking to the kids however the the person serving the carvery was engaging in a very loud conversation with other staff and using colourful language. My children noticed this and were a bit upset talking about it afterwards. While this language is probably acceptable for a bar setting on a Saturday night it was inappropriate in front of children and really unprofessional for someone serving front of house. So a mixed bag really. Good solid Carvery and lovely waitress but disappointing kids food and an unprofessional member of staff.

02/03/2026: Ordered for take out. Food was made quickly despite it being busy. Crispy beef especially good!

30/10/2025: First time trying the golden pheasant after few years of passing and wondering. Sadly was quite underwhelming. Felt as though it had deteriorated from what it once was, food was okay and the fact they had gluten free sandwiches available was great. Personal preference but we found the decor very tacky. Important to mention that the customer Toilets were filthy. We were glad we had eaten before seeing them. Great location, good coffee and pleasant surrounds

20/03/2026: One of the best places in Cobh:) All of the food here is very well made and very healthy. A beautiful Chinese menu and a surprisingly tasty Italian menu. Pizzas here are particularly good and feels different. Light crust, generous toppings and has a more homemade feel compared to others. The sauces are gorgeous, garlic mayo is 😍 Staff and delivery drivers are so friendly and food rarely takes more than 35 mins

14/09/2025: Went recently with my family for breakfast and it was great. the food was superb and affordable, the coffee some of the best ive had in mallow and the staff were all very kind. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a breakfast in mallow.

01/04/2026: Jack’s Bar & Restaurant occupies a prominent spot in Glengarriff, physically connected to the Louch Aouvl Inn next door. While the aesthetic and the menu promise a classic West Cork dining experience, the reality of the visit was overshadowed by a breakdown in hospitality and service flow. The experience begins before you even set foot inside. While browsing the street-side menu—a standard practice for any in a scenic village—the manager essentially accosts potential diners. The pitch is aggressive, promising fresh fish or "anything you want made to order" to lure people in. While proactive marketing is one thing, this felt less like an invitation and more like a high-pressure tactic. This intensity doesn’t let up once you’re seated; the manager remains stationed near the door for the duration of the meal, eyes fixed on the pavement, waiting to pounce on the next passerby who pauses to look at the menu. Unfortunately, this focus on "the next customer" seems to come at the expense of those already seated. Once we were inside, the service was consistently poor. There was a distinct lack of attentiveness and coordination, leading to a frustratingly sluggish experience. It is clear that the staff are more concerned with the intake of new patrons than the satisfaction of the ones currently dining. The greatest tragedy of the visit is that the food itself is actually quite good. The kitchen is clearly capable, delivering dishes that meet the expectations of fresh, local Irish fare. However, even the best meal is difficult to enjoy when the atmosphere feels transactional and the service is neglectful. A restaurant cannot survive on the quality of its kitchen alone if the "front of house" experience leaves guests feeling like a secondary priority. For Jack’s Bar & Restaurant to reach its potential, major customer experience and service improvements are required. The management needs to shift focus from aggressive street-side recruitment to genuine table-side hospitality. Until the service matches the quality of the food, it is difficult to recommend this establishment over the many other welcoming options in Glengarriff. There is a fine line between being a dedicated host and being a sentry, and currently, Jack’s is on the wrong side of it.

12/02/2026: Didn`t partake of the food as I had already eaten, but the fare seemed to be of a high standard. Just dropped in to have a drink before the return to Cork.

24/03/2026: The worst Chinese I’ve ever had in my life. Lack of flavour, chicken was rubbery, sauces tasted burned and almost like plastic, very oily. I felt terrible after, nothing was fresh. My whole family didn’t enjoy it.

02/10/2025: If you see this after googling Pizza in midleton there is definitely takeaways of better quality and value within the area. The pizzas are average at best, comparable to 4 star or dominos. Grand after a few pints kind of pizza

08/12/2025: Horrendous service. My friend payed separately from me as she was there first. She was waiting 20 minutes for her coffee as they said they would drop it down, but never did, she had to go ask for it. I arrived, paid for it, was told they would drop it down, never arrived, I had to ask for it 20 mins later and waitress told me we only had bought one coffee at the table! Upset over the incident and I note the manager never apologies,

06/11/2025: My daughter and I went into this café at 2:55 pm for a coffee and a pastry. I paid €11, and when the coffees arrived, the waiter told us they close at 3:00 pm. I don't think it's right that they don't warn you that they close in 5 minutes.
