The Corner Bar

Skibbereen
02/05/2026: Good place and good music on thirsday night
28/04/2026: Always looking for fine trad sessions I came in with a little dog inside my bag asking if they allow dogs in the bar. They looked at me as I was an alien and I felt uncomfortable. You can say no with a smile and that's fine, I respect some places simply don't want dogs in, but really, what's in these places that they can't say "sorry we don't allow dogs" kindly but they make you feel like you're insane to even try? there are plenty of places to go in the area if you want to listen trad music with your dog. Don't miss De Barra in Clonakilty or the pubs in Goleen. Btw, I even wrote an email days prior asking if they would allow me and my dog in for a trad session and never got a response, it would have avoided me the trip.

Berehaven Lodge

05/05/2026: The beds are horrible in this place. Woke up with back pain every morning due to the stiffness of the beds.
17/03/2026: Berehaven Lodge is a lovely and comfortable place to stay with a peaceful atmosphere. The rooms are clean, cozy, and well-kept, making it a relaxing experience. The lodge also offers pods, which are a unique and enjoyable way to stay. The surrounding views are beautiful and add to the charm of the place

13/07/2026: Really delicious food in a great location. Black sole fried in lemon butter was absolutely superb. Best fish I have had in ages. Scampi - perfect.
06/07/2026: Food was top, beef fell apart with knife accompanied by tasty veg, it could have fed two people! The fish of the day Cod had a light and fluffy texture with a tasty batter, no greasy oil to it. We ate with our kids and the staff were very efficient, friendly and helpful. Couldn't fault it.

Antonio's

Ballydehob
12/07/2026: great italian food far away from italy! i felt like i was sitting at my nonna‘s kitchen table. do yourself a favour and enjoy the tartufi - nero and pistacchio are both delicious.
28/06/2026: The food was good overall. We ordered two pizzas and a mixed salad. While the dishes didn't feel truly authentic Italian, they were still tasty and the portion sizes were satisfying. The prices were also fair and reasonable. Unfortunately, the service was a major disappointment. We asked if it would be possible to add ham to the salad, but the request was dismissed immediately without any explanation and in an unfriendly manner. The older waitress, in particular, was very unfriendly throughout our visit. There was no smile, no warm welcome, and at times we felt completely ignored. The younger staff members were polite and friendly, but that unfortunately could not make up for the overall experience. What left a particularly negative impression was that, as tourists, we felt far less welcome than the local customers. Shortly after we arrived, several locals entered the restaurant and were greeted warmly, chatted with, and their requests were accommodated. In contrast, we felt unwelcome from the beginning. While we cannot know the reason, the difference in treatment was noticeable and left us feeling uncomfortable. The atmosphere also lacked the warm, authentic Italian feeling. Having visited Italy several times, I expected a more traditional ambiance. Instead, loud American pop music was playing, which didn't really match the setting. Overall, I give this restaurant 2 out of 5 stars. The food was enjoyable and reasonably priced, but the poor service—especially from the older waitress—and the lack of a welcoming atmosphere significantly affected our experience. Based on our visit, I would not recommend this restaurant to tourists looking for a warm and hospitable dining experience.

old market

Bandon
13/06/2025: Lovely dinner - especially the green curry, linguine and Tartufo desert
10/06/2025: Went here for lunch Sunday with my two children. Tried the carvery which I have to say was very nice. My children ordered Goujons and Chips from the Kids menu. In fairness their portion size was good but they did not like the Goujons themselves. I tried a piece of one and I found it to be a little tasteless. On a positive note the waitress who served us was lovely and great talking to the kids however the the person serving the carvery was engaging in a very loud conversation with other staff and using colourful language. My children noticed this and were a bit upset talking about it afterwards. While this language is probably acceptable for a bar setting on a Saturday night it was inappropriate in front of children and really unprofessional for someone serving front of house. So a mixed bag really. Good solid Carvery and lovely waitress but disappointing kids food and an unprofessional member of staff.
