24/08/2025: Lovely Chinese take away - nothing fancy but good food and lovely owners and staff. Chicken and Mushroom and fried rice my favorite. Spice bags not greasy but crispy. New Wrappos are really good.

02/09/2025: Definitely the best supermacs to visit all food is cooked fresh to order.really friendly staff. Definitely worth waiting five or six minutes for perfectly cooked food.

14/09/2025: I had supper twice at Breens in mid-September 2025 and enjoyed both meals thoroughly. Though lord knows I don't need those extra calories, each meal I went with an appetizer, main and desert. The real highlight was the pan seared lemon sole with white wine, lemon and dill sauce I had as a main course. I can't remember ever having a better meal of fish (and I've eaten a LOT of fish!). The desserts and apples were also two thumbs up. The service was also first class - very friedly folks but also quick and helpful without being intrusive and bothersome. While there were a lot of tourists there, there were obviously many locals and regulars there, too, which is a great sign. If you are in Castletownbere and looking for delicious seafood in a friendly atmosphere with fantastic service then give Breens a go - you won't be disappointed!!

28/08/2025: Went in to enquire if they have anything that is gluten and dairy free as my partner has intolerances to both. The server was incredibly rude as she handed me a menu and said “there you go now you can make up your own mind” and then turned to her colleague at the bar and muttered something under her breath. The menu didn’t have allergens listed, except for just saying GF on one or two dishes. Her attitude was so unwelcoming I just walked back out the door. It was disheartening as most other restaurants around were closed and myself, my partner and young baby had been walking around Castletownbere for an hour trying to find somewhere for dinner. The place was half empty so no excuse to not even check with the kitchen re allergens, it also doesn’t take much to be kind, or at least to not be so rude

03/08/2025: Under new ownership and renamed as Beal Blasta. Had a green veg and feta frittata with a mix of salads. Wonderful fresh and tasty food and great coffee.

01/09/2025: Went to see a Saturday evening session. Music was average but the audience of 60 and 70 somethings nursing their Seven Ups all night seem to be hell bent on spoiling the younger peoples' night out with their glaring and hushing. Its an Irish pub for goodness sake. If you want to listen to music in silence spend a few Euro and go to the Opera. House. The manageress who seemed to support this nonsense seemed to be trying to deliver the impossible for zero financial benefit.

10/08/2025: Excellent food and very nice staff. Quick service and good prices.

08/08/2025: We ordered, the duck and salt and chilli chips and chicken and spring rolls. Food was cold and tasteless, the duck was very dry as were the chips. Won't be ordering from there again. I will be speaking to the manager tomorrow. Almost €40 for nothing.

23/08/2025: This is probably the worst Chinese restaurant I've ever been to. Couldn't tell you what was in main dish- meat wise. Covered in barbecue sauce. What province is that? I've never been to Chinese dining where default side isn't always rice. French fries?

16/09/2025: Medium Empire State is top class. They are not shy with toppings. Pricey enough. There's only a small seated area.

14/10/2025: Stopped for lunch on my way to West Cork. Nice food and served quickly. Also very reasonable priced. Worth a visit if you're in Bandon

20/09/2025: Passed through Bandon today and was going to get a takeaway. First I checked this hotel to see if they were serving food. The bar restaurant was serving and the menu had a good selection. I was going to go for the turkey and ham roast. I seen the Irish Guinness cottage stew on the menu and tried that. It was a beautiful meal beef cooked so well it was falling apart great flavours. The portion as you can see from the pics was large and a struggle to finish such a large tasty meal. Staff were great and very accommodating. Actually surprised there isn't an up to date menu on Google maps. Would highly recommend trying the food here as it is affordable and enjoyable. The Irish Beef Guinness stew and a glass of coke for €20 great value, maybe if some bread was offered with this meal as an option even one slice of soda bread or any type it would be great to dip it in to the meal. Great value, great portion, and what a nice hearty Irish meal. There was also a darts event on you can see just how busy this hotel is and caters for loss of different events and occasions. It was busy and still relaxing nice experience. The food should be promoted more, as for a solo meal it was very accommodating.

29/05/2025: Brilliant hotel in middle clonkilty lots to do in surrounding area , a couple miles up the road a must visit to warren beach beautiful beach with very clean bathrooms 🚻
