01/05/2026: My toddler is very fussy but adores the spaghetti bolognese here. And the vegetable pasta bake is to die for! Affordable, no-fuss homemade food (unlike so many where the food is brought in half prepared already). There are very few family run hotels with old-style bars left but this fits the bill. It’s a heritage experience even being in here having a drink.

09/02/2026: Had the fish and chips. COD was old haddock ( not especially fresh).. & chips but no veg or salad. Very cheap at 19 euro but I’d have preferred to pay more to be able to eat it….

19/03/2026: FISH n CHIPS × 2 with Salt n Vinegar = €24.00 - the fish was so small, slightly bigger than a Birdseye Fish Finger - half the chips were only half cooked - no Salt n Vinegar Overall a horrible meal, nothing like it was in the good days. Has the place changed ownership or something?

28/03/2026: I’m absolutely shocked and disgusted by some of the negative comments around this restaurant and the quality of food. The moment you call in your order your greeted so gently and promptly by staff,When your food is ready your greeted by friendly staff not to forget the female owner who’s an absolute sweetheart and an incredibly kind and generous person . When I spoke to her about the comments her response was very positive but I could see it hurt her because like she said you can’t please everyone and that she always ensures the best experience and food for everyone regardless of comments. The food is always top quality,the taste of the house special curry is the best I’ve ever had and the chilli prawn for starter are mouth watering. The portions are more than enough for two and even when reheated it’s even better. Everyone is has different tastes but in future remember that negative feedback can affect people’s livelihood’s especially in this climate. There’s not many Chinese restaurants around where you get your bang for your money,great customer service and absolutely amazing food

19/05/2026: I had a wonderful experience at this restaurant. The food was absolutely delicious, and every dish was prepared with great care and flavor. The staff was incredibly friendly, attentive, and made me feel very welcome throughout the evening. I also really liked the interior design and overall atmosphere — the restaurant is beautifully decorated and creates a very pleasant dining experience. I would definitely come back again and recommend it.

24/04/2026: This was our first visit to the Moghul. Having lived in the UK for thirty years I am aware that Indian restaurants in Ireland have their own iteration of the cuisine. By way of a preamble I make curries from many of the Indian regions at least once a fortnight. They are made from scratch with due care and attention. Many of the YouTube videos done by Indian-based cooks/chefs are an excellent source. The Moghul experience was a mixture of highs and lows. We ordered takeaway - a chicken tandoori starter two different chicken curries, pilau rice, and naan. The service was friendly which is always a good start. The free popadoms were inedible, without a hint of crispness. The word 'floppy' springs to mind. Thrown in the trash. The tandoori chicken starter was very pleasant, the flavourings were subtle and the meat was tender. A decent sized portion too. Each gravy in the curries had its own distinct flavour. Once again the spices were subtle, but they were presented as integrated layers which suggested thoughtful preparation. I had requested an added level or spiciness for my curry which was delivered perfectly. The naan, whilst small, did the job. The pilau rice was 10 out of 10. The colour in particular was perfect. In terms of lows the biggest was the meat in the curries - it was a car crash! We had both ordered tikka meat, and when I ordered over the phone I specifically asked whether the tikka was cooked in a tandoor oven (I own a small one myself) or under a grill. The answer was tandoor. Whilst the pieces of meat had skewer holes in them the flesh was as white as milk, with almost none of the colouring/flavour one would expect from a tikka marinade. If this meat spent more than 30 seconds in a tandoor oven I will eat my hat! There was zero evidence (taste and colouring) to suggest otherwise. The 'tikka chicken' in both curries was tasteless and bland. How was this possible? In truth it ruined what could have been two excellent curries Although a moot point, it was breast meat and not thigh which tends to have more flavour. Believe me when I say I wanted this curry house to work, because it is my local. I called them within minutes of eating to ask what was going on. The staff member who answered the phone responded that I was the first person EVER to make such a comment and could not adequately explain how 'tikka' meat can have zero tikka. I will give the restaurant the benefit of the doubt but the next time the tikka police will be in town! PS the online booking system would not let me order until the restaurant opened at 17:00 which was very strange. I mentioned this to the staff member at the reception/till. Apparently this too was the first time this issue had EVER been mentioned. It was an experience filled with Firsts... UPDATE I returned to the Moghul this evening for a takeaway. After previously being assured by the manager I'd be 'looked after' (because of issues with the previous order) this promise was a totally meaningless gesture. I was told that the chef's disputed my 'tikka free' feedback. Not sure why the management did not use the Google review response option to respond with this opinion. During this wonderful verbal bunfight as I asked repeatedly to pay for my takeaway the 'bloke' said he had read all my Google reviews and in a threatening manner said if I had written similar things about the Moghul 'things would be very different'. Oh dear. The manager then kicked off saying that she was very upset about my initial review, and 'I should think about people's jobs'. All very defensive. The angsty vibe certainly helped build up my appetite. After all that friendly interaction I see no pont in reviewing the second takeaway, other than to say the tikka meat was the same colour as porridge - see photo. The tandoor chicken tasted deep fried. PS as previously mentioned don't even think of online pre-ordering. The mixed messages from the 'management' on this topic are more all over the place than their customer service. The Tikka Police have left town and they will not be back.

02/05/2026: I am genuinely shocked and horrified. That was the worst meal I have ever eaten in my life. Every single component of the breakfast was terrible - it was comically poor. The beans were fizzing with vinegar - either that or they were out of date. The egg was powdered, microwaved and black. The potatoes were uncooked as was the ‘roasted’ tomato. Please, please avoid. The waitresses were lovely and the saving grace, but the chefs need a stern talking to

02/05/2026: The shop itself is a nice place to be. But for turning up at opening time the food was shocking. I got the omelette and my fiancé got the scrambled eggs and both were microwaved (with stale potatoes to go with it). The services were understanding but I really would seriously advise not eating here.

23/02/2026: Jimmys has always been good quality , Chicken Tikka mesala is my favourite dish here.

26/01/2026: Got a Doner kebab, curry chips and onion bhajis. Unfortunately this was a poor experience. First off the curry chips. The chips were nice. Curry watered down and tasteless. Also the portion was pathetic. Half filled the box. Bit of a joke really, I don’t know how they could honestly hand it out with a straight face. I could see the bottom on one side of the container when I opened it. The onion bhajis did not taste good and didn’t have enough onion. The kebab was the worst of all. The meat was disgusting, mushy, gelatinous and tasted bland. They also added spiced onion to the kebab which made it taste very weird. I asked for spicy but honestly there was just no flavour off it. One of the worst I’ve had around. I won’t be coming back.

10/04/2026: Excellent takeout with generous portions. The gyoza is especially good.

01/03/2026: Ordered takeaway from soba Midleton. Teriyaki steak ramen. Never again. The only edible part of this meal was the noodles. The steak was to tough and I'd still be chewing till next week. Very disappointed

20/03/2026: Genuinely decent food from this chain! Can be a little pricey but they are very nice here and always adding new stuff to the menu. Will often get something free thrown in. Ordered two pizzas (one had chips in the offer) and they gave us both a decent scoop of chips each. Milkshakes are savage too Delivery isn't long, foods always piping. Very little complaints :)

20/05/2026: Fish and chips are very good here. They have great, fair prices (id recommended calling by phone 👀) and the quality of the food is really nice. Definitely recommend over any other chipper 🙏

01/04/2026: I honestly wasn’t expecting this, but this place completely blew me away. The food alone was incredible, everything was fresh, loaded with flavour, and easily some of the best takeaway I’ve had in a long time. The pizza was spot on, and the loaded fries were next level. What really stood out though was the generosity and service. They went above and beyond, gave me a huge discount and even threw in extra food, which was completely unexpected. You don’t see that kind of customer care often anymore. Genuinely one of the best takeaway experiences I’ve had. If you’re thinking about trying this place, just do it. You won’t regret it.

07/02/2026: Probably one of the worst experiences in a Chinese restaurant and any restaurant for that matter. Food was edible but that is about as good as it gets. Our experience consisted of unhygienic ethic and unmannerly service. Firstly one waitress was mopping and drying the floor with a towel as we arrived, then then served us our food without cleaning their hands and left the dirty towel that was dragged along the floor on another chair in the restaurant as we were eating. Then after that, as we were eating, we were sat next to a plug in Bluetooth speaker that was apparently setting the atmosphere but the only atmosphere it set was the smell of a cheap, broke owners who can't afford Spotify or YouTube premium because it kept playing adverts the whole time we were there. And they didn't even let a song finish, kept skipping songs halfway through. And to top it all off, 2 waitresses were having a conversation as we were eating that the whole street could hear, and swearing with foul language during the conversation, no manners, ethetic or awareness of what service should be at all. Most definitely will not be returning to this place.
